@fancybum I believe Zoe and Alfie have essentially a cottage at the end of their garden - Like a 3-5 minute walk away from their “real” house - which they work out of. It has a proper bathroom and kitchen, and could easily house a small family.
I know Shane Dawson has also rented a residential flat which he uses as an office with his friend Garret. So it’s not an unusual thing. It’s natural to want some separation between work and home life when you work from home. Especially once you get a bit older and want to develop good work habits and a routine.
Having an office space definitely isn't unusual, it was more the 'entire house' aspect I was wondering about lol. But a guest cottage thing they already have on site is slightly less extravagant than just a whole other house somewhere. I guess. Sigh, rich people.
About the radio talk: I don't think they would consider it a step back or down if they were being paid well enough and had most of the creative control. YouTube income is getting dicier in terms of stability and unless they want to tour every year (that sounds both tiring
and annoying), other creative outlets that
pay are always a good idea. I think they took a lot of pride in having their own radio show and would be open to going back (or going elsewhere..?) if the option was available to them. Dan's comment in a liveshow, in response to somebody telling them to do a podcast, of 'why would I do a podcast when I have a radio show?' (something like that) is pretty telling that he held the position in high regard, which is kind of funny- holding a relic of traditional media in higher esteem than its burgeoning new media counterpart based on..? What? Old people's opinions? But whatever, it'll come down to where the money (and most control) is.
Opinion Time: I really don't care for the gaming livestreams and they're not remotely a replacement for the kind of fun candid moments the radio shows gave us. The gaming streams are basically the worst parts of gaming videos (tech issues/sucking and having to keep trying without the grace of editing) and liveshows ('say hi'/inane audience commentary that does nothing for anybody) combined. I don't think anything worthwhile enough is gained (on the audience side, I hope all those inane superchat$$ are worth it to D&P) to make the gaming streams a better substitute for anything we weren't already getting. Like if they were using the streams to play a long narrative game (Life is Strange? literally any game that isn't that watergirl thing or overcooked over and over again??), as in do something
different that they didn't want to do in edited videos, that could have been interesting. But as it is: meh.
