Now, the photo that was both the start and downfall of our theory of Dan possibly actually attempting to be vegan again was the under-the-fridge photo in Dan's Tinder video (the top right in the photo set under the spoiler tag down below). For some reason, I decided to zoom into the fridge and actually got lucky! The cartons on the lowest shelf seem to be dairy-free milk alternatives. The left one clearly sports the Alpro logo and red stripes that indicate an unsweetened variant. The right one could be anything, but the colour is suspiciously similar to an Oatly oat milk carton.
However, after a few hours of scouring D&P's social media accounts, videos and liveshows for food references and spending an obscene amount of time playing Phandom Pizza FBI with sparkle, I came back to the fridge photo to check what kind of rice cakes Dan is eating in it. They turned out to be Tesco's sour-cream and onion rice cakes, which aren't vegan, so the vegan!Dan theory was dead! There is nothing to suggest that he couldn't be a vegetarian, though.
(If anyone wants to know what else we found, hmu.)
but vegan food's been so accessible in the uk for the last couple of years that even a lot of people who arent strictly vegan choose vegan safe options when they're easily available, and doing a little bit here and there for the enviro rather than going all the way. being so worried about being 100% perfect is why dan cancelled the vegan plans in the first place, when really anyone should be praised for making any small contribution, whether its cutting out beef, recycling a little more, using aerosols less or just being more conscious of waste
dairy gives me crazy migraines so i avoid that but i'll die for eggs
