Dan & Phil Part 70: giving the people what they want

Uhf, echoing everyone else, and Louise, they are so cute and such good boys. Also Phil in that red shirt with the quiff reminds me of a country and western singer going bowling. Their reaction to her birth pains, Dan saying perineal massage, approaching the baby, seeing the baby, holding the baby... endless love for two men, will it ever end. I love Louise in the next shot too dancing to that awful hot-girlfriend song in her dressing gown.

I cannot express how good and healthy they both look these days. When they appear from debenhams they both look amazing. I really cannot get over Phil in all black with the quiff and glasses. 2018 you really are too good to us.

When Dan passes Pearl to Phil is probably the highlight, it’s so funny and Phil looks so awkward but it’s probably the most soft bit of all. Awww just what I needed on this Sunday morning

I have no original thoughts to offer right now but that video was so, so, so adorable. Dan's smiles with baby Pearl were just ... a lot. So happy and glowy and I love seeing how much he adores babies. Phil's little snuggle. Pearl holding Dan's finger. The whole bit of them interacting with the baby together I'm just very (And not to put too much weight on glances but they seemed to love seeing each other with the baby and that was just adorable.)

Also the fanfic comment was a little jarring to me, too, but I think it was probably because (correct me if I'm wrong) we haven't really seen them together with a baby besides that one liveshow from forever ago. I imagined Dan might be acutely aware that it's going online, and turned to humour as a way to, idk, lighten the situation? Idk if that makes sense. As though drawing attention to what the situation could look like would diminish the influx of that very response.

About the fanfic comment, I think it was a way of addressing the obvious that this is what a lot of people want to see. To me it didn't feel like he put any value into it? Just a statement, "this will be inspiration for fanfic", which is 100% true (and I will love it). I didn't hear anything in his wording or tone that made me think that that would be a bad thing, it's just a fact. But that might just be my interpretation.

Honestly didn't mind the fanfic comment. I was taken aback by it because he even acknowledged it at all, but not in a negative way.
They were both super cute with the baby and Dan looks so enamoured with her, it's very sweet. Like I said a few pages back, I'm not a baby person, but their reactions to Pearl were really heartwarming. Thanks Louise

I have nothing unique to add to the feedback, just dying over how sweet, soft and pure meeting Pearl was. I loved the vlog a lot. I also really liked Louise complimenting them by saying fame hasn't changed them, I really like that they have kept a friendship when Louise couldn't even keep her friendship going with her "chummy".

I enjoyed the silent communication between Deppy in the video, btw. I mean, they seem to do it a lot, but just before Dan passed Pearl I could see Phil's eyes saying "no no don't you know I'll drop her" and Dan's eyes sort of saying "you know you have to for the vlog, you're going to take this baby whether you like it or not" hahaha.

i didn't know how much i would love them interacting with a baby up until now...
my face hurts from smiling and dan looks so happy while phil is a little nervous aww. when they were passing the baby to each other was the moment i died 4 times in a row. i just love seeing them interact unscripted WITH A BABY.

I wonder if this has anything to do with being the oldest/youngest child in their respective families. Dan grew up with a much younger brother, so being around a baby/small child must be natural to him. I don't know how much Phil's been around babies though.
It would be the same as for me and my (older) sister; she's more of a natural while I don't really know what to think of/do with babies.

However Louise’s millions of jealous girls remark—I get the impression with her that she works overtime in trying to choose the appropriate words when publicly speaking about them, knowing that the phandom is going to analyze every little thing, so I think she tends to overcompensate sometimes to play along into the 2 straight bros narrative. (Catrific tends to do this too sometimes) You could tell she’s not 100% natural when it comes to secret keeping.

• 12:04 Dan acknowledging that them deciding based on height is "the only way to do it". I appreciate 2018 giving us D&P height difference acceptance~
• After Louise talks about her tearing at 12:40, does Dan say to Phil, "well you should be confronted with reality"? Why, Dan? Why should he be? I need answers.
• Anyone else mildly amused that Dip and Pop would meet her near Topman?
• Phil going straight for the baby and ... oh, oh shit. My ovaries have already begun to melt. (you're welx for that mental image)
• Everything from 16:00 on involving Dan's face has just... fucked me up. He's heart-eyes-Howelling all over the place and I am living for it.
• I'm always massively fascinated at moments like 16:40 where Dan just pointedly stares at Phil when there's more than one person in the conversation. Lemme rock the goggles for one sec when I say that I think Phil is Dan's visual comfort zone. He knows he's being filmed and the situation is all very unusual, but if he just looks at Phil while he's talking, everything's fine.
• 16:55 Dan looks so healthy. The baby looks so healthy. Dan and the baby look so healthy and good. IDK how Phil didn't just keel over from his heart swelling 5 sizes too big.
• "Millions of girls are jealous of Pearl right now" at 17:08 goes unacknowledged. Nice.

i'm only putting the majority of these under spoiler out of politeness, but just know it physically pains me to do so. every frame is gold.

favourite moment: what @human mentioned, the look between them before dan hands pearl over. it almost felt like dan was trying to catch his eye contact for a second to reassure phil. i thought it was interesting louise said she would be more comfortable letting phil babysit initially before changing her mind, while previously she had said she thought dan may be better if she went into labour. dan was quite a bit more facially engaging with pearl; and more confident cradling her and knowing what needed to be done to adjust her against phil by untrapping her arm and giving instructions ("one hand under the butt, and flip"). maybe a case of phil giving off more of a sense of confidence than he really has when in a situation for the first time (only initially, i don't think he's incapable at all past initial nerves, he was clearly besotted with her too); versus dan giving off a sense of incapability when he's actually much more capable than he portrays?

@liola i was also about to apologise pre-emptively for commenting on the prolonged hand contact but you know what, i'm not sorry. it's nothing to do with shipping them, nor is it sexual; its just a really sweet moment seeing them work together to hold her protectively. plus they both have nice hands and i like hands.

silently nodded at dan ignoring louise's comment (would she have said the same thing to phil?). he's always been good at subtly letting those moments go with her, though.

Re: Louise's secret keeping, I don't have a formed opinion on her being in the know or not, but I was amused by the first reaction you see on her face when her friend asks which one of them would be Dan and which one Phil. Of course, that might just be the fear of a possible backlash from the phandom if they don't like what she says

Continuing on the topic of my completely pointless observations, I watched Marzia's engagement video that someone posted earlier and I must say that watching Dan in a shirt that says "equality" in Russian is so much nicer than watching Felix in one that says an equivalent of "bitch fuck" (especially while recalling his supposedly happiest moment with his fiancee)

I can say this as I knew exactly where they were eating when I saw Louise's meal lol. Mexican is usually my breakfast of choice also, including in IHOP lol. They went to Giraffe and Dan had the shakshouka:
