I don't like the thread title either
Guess I'll be a bit uncomfortable for the next 40 pages.

tbh I wouldn't have expected anything less from them, and I'm glad that recent events inspired them to make such a timeless and iconic video

+1 for uncomfortable with the thread title
I think it’s absolutely fine to make the joke buried in a thread (I lol’d) but different matter to have it as a thread title hanging around at the top of the main forum for a few weeks
Especially as there is no way this forum is not monitored, even if only by some intern at their management company. That’s just business.
On more positive note.... Yay for another beautiful Phil pic! I do love seeing a little peek of roots under the quiff but I’m not sure I would want him to abandon the jet-black just yet. (Although it must be an utter pain in the arse to respray as often as he has to)
He’s such a striking looking guy I’m sure he’d look great either way tho

I'm the last one to the party, as always, but after the emotional rollercoaster that was the end of the last thread, I really need to say that I loved Dan's liveshow, very chill
Didn't love the fandom drama afterwards, but what can you do. I'm very happy with Dan (and Phil), otherwise I wouldn't be here. And rape jokes need to die and never come back, like, five years ago, ty.
Not bothered at all by the thread name, I could've sworn there has already been one like that when they went to Japan but actually, there isn't? Maybe, on that other forum... I mean, come on, there's no OMG in the beginning, it doesn't even have to be a reference to the video, look at their own April calendar
As for the poor intern that supposedly monitors everything, I think you give them (and their management) too much credit

Dan wants to be understood. Phil just wants to make the viewer smile and sell some backpacks (c) fancybum

I don't really care much about the thread title tbh and it's what apparently got the most votes but I can see why it may make people uncomfortable.
Also, I've often seen comments here saying that D&P might lurk here and I honestly don't get where people get that idea from? I know of Youtubers who've visited their GG threads and whatnot but when it comes to D&P, I think they just check what they say they check occassionally, which are their Twitter mentions, Youtube comments and art on Tumblr from time to time. Same thing with the "Dan has a secret stan account" I so often see on Twitter, I think it's just not realistic. If they did, I really think they would know better when it comes to handling certain situations and what people's opinion on things are. If someone has any examples that could suggest they lurk here, I'd love to know though.

I agree, I appreciate the apology a lot but I hope that he will more carefully consider what he says in the future.LtrllySusan wrote: Fri Apr 06, 2018 4:20 am Re: Apology; good that he wrote it (but how about dropping the "no punctuation" branding?) but I moreso hope that he will also change his behaviour. I think the Dan & Phil lurking mostly became an in joke last year after they mentioned a few things we’d been discussing on the forum in the liveshows.dancy wrote: Fri Apr 06, 2018 7:27 am I don't really care much about the thread title tbh and it's what apparently got the most votes but I can see why it may make people uncomfortable.

It was probably just a coincidence they were referencing the same subjects as us.
Also there is/was a member of the forum who reminded everyone a lot of Dan. So much so that there was speculation (though it was mostly us joking).
Plus a few troll accounts over time pretending.
So the joke stuck
I said something about Dan lurking recently and it was absolutely a joke. When I’ve seen people mention him having a secret account it’s been because he liked something he wasn’t tagged in. Since there must be 100 other explanations for that though I suspect those people might have been joking as well.

soo I haven't posted on here in ages, been lurking from time to time, and it's not like my opinion matters at all lol but I still have to say that this thread title also makes me very uncomfortable, on Dan and Phil's behalf, especially. I don't like how a lot of people (not necessarily here) hold Dan (and Phil) to pretty high standards when it comes to them being "problematic" or offensive, people always expect them to be sensible, mature, to speak, act and react to things the way the phandom wants them to speak, act and react (otherwise some people tend to gang up on them or start drama), but when it comes to Dan and Phil's feelings, seems like only a few bother to consider them :/ sorry, but if the majority of people who post on this forum believe that dnp are a closeted couple, or are closeted in terms of their own sexualities, how come is making such crass, invasive puns about something dnp themselves never bring up okay? not only do they never bring that up, but it also was a massive breach of their privacy, regardless of anything, and it caused them both a lot of stress in the past, who knows how affected they are currently. I don't see how we, as their audience, have the right to joke about something like that so blatantly (in forms of thread titles, memes, whatever). especially considering the fact that even after all those years (8? 7?) Phil still continues manually searching for and taking down the reuploads of that thing. clearly, it's still a sore subject for him, if he has to do that in 2018.
I'm not posting this to argue with anybody or anything, and I realize not everyone is here to treat Dan and Phil with respect and consideration, but, despite the fact that, yes, they're grown adults and despite the fact that it's been years, I still feel like such *jokes* aren't good, like, from the moral standpoint. y'all can do whatever, sure, it's not like people don't invade the guys' privacy daily anyway, but yeah, more people should consider treating others the way they want to be treated, despite how ~famous those other people might be, I think

The "problem" with the forum is the crazy high amount of lurkers - this thread is on page two but almost has more clicks already than the forums has members (1300 views vs 1800 members).
So the people voting on the thread name poll are largely people that aren't even posting, but in the end, their majority is what counts and is what we as members choose to represent with the thread title.
I like it here, but I don't wanna represent v-day references in 2018, especially just a few days after Dan is very strongly trying to distance himself from the past. This is not about Phan, it's about my respect towards the boys and the influence this forum has on the phandom as a whole.

Even when I'm reading sneakaly at work I can barely keep up with all the posts here!
Liveshow:
I liked it, he was in a good mood, it put me in a good mood. As always people have reactions, and rightfully so, but it didn't bother me at all (except maybe reading out the letter like he did, but he apologized for that).
Dan's problem seems to be the balance in being open with his thoughts and opinions and wording them correctly to make sure that each and every person listening understand exactly what he's trying to say. Phil's solution to this is to basically not express them at all, which to me makes him slightly less relatable and human. I totally understand him though, considering the aftermath of Dan's liveshows. Idk, I don't know which way is better
Phil's selfie:

Thread name:
I haven't seen the video in question so I didn't even know it was a reference to that. I just thought it was a reference to all the other cherry and cherry blossom references out there.

I don't want anybody to take this as me not at all respecting DnP, cause that isn't the case whatsoever. i do respect them, this isn't meant to be an attack on their sexualities. I don't want anyone to feel upset or uncomfortable and i don't want to defend myself because everyone is entitled to their opinion. it's understandable why some of you are upset about it.
can i ask if it's possible for a thread name to be changed?

Love the danisnotonfirevyou1 vid. My son has the llama hat and it amuses me that Dan is currently trying to distance himself from it when llamas are more popular now than ever. I got an email from Etsy posing the question if llamas were the new unicorns. No llamacorns are the new unicorns geeze Etsy. Any chance of llama or dinosaur emojis? Now feels like the perfect time.
@kavat He did say he ordered their merch in the ls. I like the black Brockhampton shirt with the rainbow on it. I can’t imagine Dan wearing the yellow Gay shirt out, though some people were speculating it’s what he had the allergic reaction to.
@ratlad Maybe we could have a vote to see if enough people want to change the thread title. Mods is that even possible? Members is that desired?

Hey All! This sets a bit of a new precedent, but given some of the feedback we've gotten to the thread name, we're going to run another poll for a rename.
Added to the poll are "our cherry blossom" - Phil's lovely caption, if you still want to reference the cherry blossom in our title and also "Nice." because it's thread 69 and I'm extremely immature.
Please vote here! We'll leave it up for a couple of hours and then switch out the name.

Count me in with being uncomfortable with the title. Can't we just let that video rest, it's pretty clear they don't want it floating around. It was never made public on purpose either so it's safe to say it wasn't something we were ever supposed to see. Also it's so damn old now, how is it even still relevant to anything... Let it die.
EDIT: Thanks for the revote!
I wrote this response right when you posted the revote, so consider it mute, but I'm gonna leave it here.
This. Even though the video was public once, it was never meant to be and Phil taking it down every single time someone re-uploads it makes it pretty clear he doesn't want it around and I think we need to respect that maybe. He's set a clear boundary concerning this video and the phandom should have learned to respect that boundary back in 2012.LttrlySusan wrote:I like it here, but I don't wanna represent v-day references in 2018, especially just a few days after Dan is very strongly trying to distance himself from the past. This is going to be an unpopular opinion, but people's reaction to the thread title is an example of one of the reasons why I don't really post here any more. This forum should be for the fans, not for Dan and Phil. My full support to the poster who came up with the original title and who'll probably be feeling like shite right now.
I didn't even vote for this title in the first round. I was going to vote for it now and I see it's not even there any more. I don't really understand your reasoning when it comes to thinks like this. This reference makes people uncomfortable, but how come you're mainly fine saying things like 'Dan should wear these edgy trousers', 'I'd like Dan to wear these boots', 'They'd look much better with their teeth fixed'. This weird treating-them-like-a-doll ongoing thing rubs me the wrong way (I found the teeth discussion some months ago borderline creepy), but it's fine, we're different people with different backgrounds and values. I shouldn't expect that people don't talk about certain topics because they make me uncomfortable, and viceversa.
I just find the self-imposed censoring on IDB too exhausting and suffocating to actually enjoy the forum.

Behind every great person, there is a great cat
I'm not saying you're wrong but even the poster themselves who came up with it ended their post with "i apologize for that......" and honestly, I didn't intend to make anyone feel shitty with my post, but still, I strongly believe that this has nothing to do with self-censorship and everything to do with showing simple respect towards dnp. they asked for people to leave it alone, it was never meant to be public, like others have already mentioned, and I'm not a fan of joking about other people's traumatic experiences and at the expense of other people in general when said people made it precisely clear that they don't appreciate such 'jokes' one bit. turning such things into titles, on a public forum, just makes me feel uneasy because those references have never belonged to the fandom and people 'claimed' them anyway. plus, it's a way of 'promoting' one thing Dan and Phil absolutely don't want people to see. some things should be left alone. after all, this is a forum/fanbase dedicated to two real people with feelings, emotions and their rights for privacy and autonomy. it's not the same as discussing fictional characters and Dan and Phil are very self-aware and probably even more 'fandom-aware', which makes their situation even more unique and complicated, imo. I think certain topics just simply go over the line, that's all. people often try to 'control' the way Dan and/or Phil act and ask many things from them, but at the same time are unable to treat them with basic human decency and show them respect for their wishes/privacy. once again, I didn't mean to make anyone feel horrible, I just wanted to express that I thought the pun was in poor taste.

1) Saying you think Dan or Phil would look good in a certain piece of clothing is nowhere near the same as disrespecting the boundaries they themselves clearly set years ago and still keep enforcing. Literally every post that talks about the styles we'd personally like D&P to wear starts of with "They should wear whatever they like of course" these days because everyone here is aware that they're not dolls... So if that's an issue, why is respecting that they don't want that video around not one? (Also we had a very long discussion about why the teeth comment is not the same as that and not okay either, if you'd like to remember. It's not like we all were totes fine with that...annetamiau wrote: Fri Apr 06, 2018 2:19 pm I didn't even vote for this title in the first round. 2) Can we not throw around the word censorship like this... Yes, this forum is for the fans, not for D&P, but we're still a fandom of two very real people. This wouldn't be an issue if we were stanning a TV show but we're not. And I think respecting boundaries the people we're fans of have set is important. Like @LtrllySusan (whose name I spelled wrong earlier, sorry!) said, this forum represents the phandom in a way. It comes up when you google Dan and Phil and there are hundreds of lurkers. And I think discussing things that make users uncomfortable or that go a bit too far is super important. Because we're not alone here, loads of people read this forum, and we're talking about real people, whether they'll ever read what we write here or not.

Just to throw my two cents behind the soon to be old title. It quickly looks like everyone is against it because those are the ones who speak up. I personally liked it, it made me smile and I also voted for it. I find it very difficult to find the offense, I thinks it’s very innocent even knowing the backstory.
