Okay so the sticking point in the two flat theory is how much we've seen. If they had one for filming and one for living, why would we see as much of both as we have?

Ever since phils Ribena “we have a problem” video on Twitter, I thought they may have a little kitchenette by the actual lounge? Because that seemed like a mini fridge in the video? I honestly can’t see much in the pic except counters and paper towels, so if there was a little area with a smaller fridge, sink and microwave, that might be what’s in the picture?captainspacecoat wrote: Tue Oct 31, 2017 12:14 amThis is the kitchen seen in the background of one of Dan's live shows (can't remember which), and it's definitely different to the one in this video. I'm not sure I'm on board with them having two completely separate flats as I can't see the point of that given that they've filmed in both, I feel like it's more likely their flat is just weird and has two kitchens? Although that also seems kind of strange and unlikely, whom knows tbhLoafer wrote: Mon Oct 30, 2017 11:48 pm
Ps: who has pics of their kitchen/reason for thinking there’s two? I see that the Russian picture from the depression video doesn’t seem to be there but idk, maybe it was on a different wall or something? Or just didn’t fit the spooky vibe? I just want pics to compare pls thanks
I loved the video, don't have much else other to say other than that 'the literal other half' end screen ended my life.
Yeah it seems unlikely that there are two totally separate flats, given we’ve seen so much of their stuff together (books, films, games, filming equipment, phils mirror in dans bedroom, etc). I don’t think they would put in that amount of effort AND manage to remember to say “our” for everything involving the flat for the rest of the year..
I’ve been thinking this. But see, they said the gaming room was a bedroom and then there’s Phil’s, ahem, bedroom. So that’s two bedrooms in the work flat already.ArtyJim wrote: Tue Oct 31, 2017 1:34 am the thing I keep wondering about the 2 apartment theory is - if there were two separate apartments wouldn't there be 2 master bedrooms? one for each apartment? i love a good theory and i think separating work and home is really healthy but I keep getting hung up on this lol.
Is there a guest room there also? I thought Dan’s grandparents came to visit but he didn’t say if they stayed but that would be in the love nest I’m guessing. So that’s already two 2 bedroom apartments.
I remember seeing a bigger and better picture of that other (non-baking) kitchen with some laundry drying up, but I can't find it. Anyone?
Also Phil's hair straightener in the moon room doesn't support the two apartments theory.
Can Dan please explain all the kitchens in the liveshow.... I mean there was a wooden spatula when Phil opened a drawer, so it seems like there're some utensils in both ready to be used.

A few quick points since I don't have time to make a proper post:
a) obscureDnPreference, you are my hero with those timestamps at the top of the last page.
b) IDB detective squad never fails to make me smile, even on days when I'm too busy to properly get involved. My vote goes for Janice and Phil divorced when Dan and Phil finally gave in to their years of sexual tension, got a flat in the same building as Dan and Phil so that Phil can have partial custody of the baby, and they filmed from her flat sometimes when Phil has custody since Dan refuses to sacrifice his aesthetic to babyproofing in their own flat.
c) It fills me with absolute delight that we're at a point in the progression of Dan and Phil's relationship where 'Phil wouldn't pick Dan's wedgie out, see?? no homo!' is length people have to go to for finding a phan-denial viewpoint on a video. Lemme just be the one to break it to anyone seriously counting on Phil's expression at that as proof they're not together: it doesn't matter how many years you've been with someone or how comfortable you are with their body, you may still not want to pick something out of their ass in the middle of the day with no sexual context around it.
d) Man, I just loved this video. I don't really know that I have a fourth point besides that. This absolutely doesn't erase any of the things I've found disappointing about their behavior in the past weeks, nothing actually will besides them addressing it and expressing regret, but I'm glad my discomfort with watching them eased enough for this video to really be enjoyable.

I was out at a family birthday dinner when the baking video posted and when I got home there was drama with my son's homework so I didn't get to watch until late last night. I think everything has already been said but I'll give my thoughts anyway. I thought for sure they would be wearing tee shirts under the jumper. That had to be a conscious choice. I'm guessing just humor? Like it wouldn't be because it's too hot (naked bodies under a duvet heat up faster than ones with pajamas on). I got both platonic and old married couple vibes. Nothing really romantic or flirty, except that end screen bubble. I was also disappointed in the lack of feeding each other. I know it's fan service, but it would have made more sense here with the arms... I dunno, I guess they thought it was too much, or maybe didn't think of it at all. Still no issue with shared germs though. Dan taking a bit of chocolate then dropping the bitten piece into the pan. Putting Phil's phone in his mouth... (I wouldn't put my own phone in my mouth. I don't think the being weirded out by a wedgie is evidence of anything, nobody likes wedgies. But the slapping skin comment... I dunno.
Since you all are talking about the apartment layout...
Thanks for the link to my post malday, boy I was extra... Going to try not to go too creepy here.
On kitchens, I do think that they are both full sized kitchens. I know a lot of people thought the downstairs one might be a kitchenette or wet bar, but we now know it has a stove top on an island and a huge fridge (bigger than upstairs, yet the upstairs one is the one we've seen stocked). Now people are trying to say the one upstairs is the kitchenette, but you can see in the pic above that it has a hood over a stove top. Plus both have kitchen tables. I think they probably use the one upstairs more, but might keep some snacks and drinks handy for filming gaming videos. The utensils in the drawer during baking... they could have just put them there. Dunno. But since they do have such a nice kitchen that they don't seem to be utilizing much, I think they should totally make more baking and cooking videos. Get your money's worth.
Yes the other pic. I went digging and viofish posted this a ways back:

Love the laundry drying rack. It does appear to be a smaller kitchen, but it is more elegant. And for two guys that seem to get take-away a lot, I can see why they choose to use that space more.
There are some things that still confuse me, like the location of the moon room and what room had the Daniel's Room door plaque on it, but I don't care as much anymore and that's probably healthy. Though I wouldn't be opposed to a separate thread...

This is basically my theory. The two levels were once separate units, they were renovated at different times, possibly by previous landlords, thus the different flooring and doors. The staircase was added in at some point, but they could serve as separate living spaces if one desired. I think this would definitely appeal to D&P and I think they did have plans to separate work and life a bit more (showing the upstairs only in Instagram pics), but the internet connection was not ideal and they decided to move their liveshows upstairs. And yeah the gaming room definitely has it's own bathroom inside, not as big or as elegant a master as the moon room, but it was probably good enough for a two bedroom apartment.dansnose wrote: Tue Oct 31, 2017 5:35 am also, they live in a duplex and my theory is that the duplex was originally two apartments that the landlord bought and added a staircase to create the duplex. it explains the double kitchens/ intercomes and how when they did the joint liveshow after only moving in they referred to the lounge with the sofa crease as “downstairs lounge” meaning we know for a fact that the two floors of their apartment are not two separate apartments haha

i just don’t see how having two apartments is even possible bc they film in both anyways and traveling between apartments seems like too much of a hassle for two lazy guys who have been always working in the convenience of their living area.
so i firmly believe the two floors are connected and it’s all in the same apartment (or at least same building?)
but i still stand by my theory that the landlord bought two apartments and added an internal staircase bc people do weird stuff and it just makes more sense that it’s all under the same roof.
under the spoiler is a dream i had last night about the baking vid btw haha

The mini-fridge actually makes 3 fridges: the one in Dan’s Tinder vid is full size (he sits underneath it) and different from the one in the baking vid which had like double doors kind of. So maybe the bigger flat does also have a kitchenette.
As for 2 apartments being knocked into one duplex, I still don’t think that would be allowed in an apartment building which usually you would own leasehold, meaning you only own the properly and not the land it sits on (and there’s usually clauses saying you can’t make major alterations to the building in those situations) and if it was, and they were renovated at different times and then just stuck together, I still don’t see why anyone would ever keep both kitchens, that’s the thing that confirms it’s two flats for me. And I don’t even think they’re in the same apartment block because of the different door and windows frames as those are always uniform throughout a whole apartment building and pretty difficult to replace I would imagine.
I’m not trying to suggest they “live separately” or Phil is shacked up with Janice or whatever because as others have said, both their stuff is all other both apartments, there were straighteners (probably Phil’s) in the moon room, etc etc etc but I really just think it was meant to be one for home and one for filming and they got lazy really quickly and they’re contracted into both for a year. Or maybe it’s not as clearly defined as that and they just wanted more rooms than one flat would allow: bedroom, gaming room, phil’s filming space, dan’s filming space, lounge, etc. and because they’re stupidly rich decided to just split it across 2 nearby flats.

kitchens and apartments:
I am having a hard time believing that someone would convert two apartments into one and keep the two kitchens. An additional converted bedroom (or lounge even) would add far more value to the apartment. And that kitchen looked void of life, there was nothing except decorations. Not to mention the weird echo, which would mean that room atleast was mostly empty. It could be the kitchen in the IRL office, or maybe deppy are starting their real estate empire and have bought and are selling/renting an apartment themselves. (good investment for them)
Baking vid:
It isn't an immediate favorite. It's at times funny, cute, sweet, relatable, eye roll worthy, and I enjoyed it, but the "challenge" aspect did make it a bit predictable.

Concering the wedgie, I don't think anyone thinks "Phil wouldn't pick Dan's wedgie out, see?? no homo! " is a grounds of a phan-denial viewpoint, or that a facial expression someone makes here or elsewhere is ever proof of them not being together, or together. It's not necessarily a sign of them pretending to be "bro's" that behave a certain way to be "no homo" either, as i've seen pass on my twitter feed. There's many other grounds you can think they are(n't) in a relationship for. To me personally it just gave me a very platonic vibe. Like others may see in "the literal other half" a confirmation or fact about how open they are about their relationship, while i think it's just a joke and there's no extra meaning behind it
(but I will accept your as a furry anyway Dan
Just rewatched the video and I just love how they manage to make something I find so boring like baking so funny. Messing around in a conjoined sweater should be like the concept of a brand new tv-show. Move along, bake-off shows
Speaking about... I don't know if the Great British bake-off is still running but for once I feel like it may inspire Dan to do a liveshow tonight rather than posphone one. Fingers crossed, i'm expecting some fun little behind the scenes anecdotes of how the sweater nearly killed him and how he narrowly escaped oblivion by trusting Phil with a knife and hanging around ordinary kitchen appliances. Sure thing Daniel, don't you just live life right on the edge  ?

#flatgate is thriving I see. I wouldn't be opposed to a different thread tbh I love interior design. I still fully believe they live together, and I don't find weird that two kitchens were left in the building - duplex that big are not usually bought by couples, but by families that want separate spaces because there's a necessity.
I wonder if we ask Dan tonight if he'll explain more lmao

If they lived in two separate flats, wouldn't they also have different washing machines? But Dan complained about how his clothes were covered in glitter after he washed them when Phil did his slime video
Re: flatgate
Hi! I’m back from lurking just to mention that I live in a duplex with two kitchens (full kitchens) one on each floor so for me it doesn’t look that weird. The one in the first floor is bigger and the main one and the one on the second floor is smaller but it serves a different purpose, we have a terrace, full bathroom and an additional room/guest bedroom/office on that floor so you can either use it as a separate living space or an office with its own kitchen. Maybe just maybe that would be the case with D&Ps apartment

The baking had me
it was so sweet and them being shirtless underneath the sweater was unnecessary, haha. I just really liked how it was so silly and nice and also sooo domestic. I actually missed the literal other half, but goddammit, asfgh, why.
I have nothing to say for the flatgate, but i know many houses with two kitchens and they are actual houses too. Also if they really need space, then why not have a two kitchens too.
I still haven't watch the last spooky week video, since i just came back from a hike, but I'll watch it now and probably rewatch the baking and idk what is my life, i love 2k17 deppy.

Just a reminder for Dan's LS that time already changed in the UK, but doesn't change in the US until this weekend, so if he stays with it starting at 9:30 his time, it will be an hour later than usual in the US (ie 5:30 eastern)!
"You loved it, you want to do it more."

Hi, I'm new to the forum(only been lurking here a few weeks), but figured I'd offer my thoughts on the apartment situation.
I'm leaning towards two flats that were combined into one unit by a previous owner. In the US we occasionally have things called "mother-in-law suites", although I'm not sure if the UK has anything similar. These suites are usually a semi-self-contained apartment that is either added onto or is carved out of a house for an in-law to move into so they can live semi-independently, but might still need some assistance due to age or health (or even just to help out with grandkids or something). So, they're usually connected to the main house, but will contain a bedroom, living room, kitchen, etc.
In a city situation it could make sense to do something similar with two apartments using a staircase and a door (or just a connecting door for two flats side-by-side). So you'd have one unit but two living spaces. I could see D&P renting a place like this, since one of their bigger complaints about their previous flat was a lack space and storage.
I mean, I might be completely off base, but it could explain two kitchens and such.

Phil saying Dan likes Riverdale and Dan getting embarrassed about it was p cute, with him excusing it with "it's mostly Jughead". I still hate Riverdale (but still binge-watch it, that feel when you're there for the amazing side characters not for the over dramatic, over sexual mains) but I mean, everyone has a problematic interest.
Already accepted Dan's a furry anyway so, natural progression.

All I have to say is to the people saying Phil not picking Dan’s wedgie is antiphan proof...,,,,,, y’all are nasty and I hope to god you’re not picking your significant other’s wedgie. I love my girlfriend but there’s no way in hell im picking underwear out of her asscrack lol. There’s just something unpleasant about wedgies so I don’t blame Phil for being grossed out lol. It’s funny because I’ve never been more convinced that they’re in a romantic relationship. I am SO excited for Dan’s liveshow
(Also Dan saying he’s 26 depressed and uses edgy jokes to cope with anxiety is peak relatable. Like that is actually my life minus 6 years)

OMG - Same. I would never ask my husband of *cough* many years to pick my wedgie. I would do it in front of him, but I wouldn't have him do it. But I also wouldn't pick eye boogs from his eye either.secretagentphan wrote: Tue Oct 31, 2017 7:34 pm All I have to say is to the people saying Phil not picking Dan’s wedgie is antiphan proof...,,,,,, y’all are nasty and I hope to god you’re not picking your significant other’s wedgie.
Like that is actually my life minus 6 years)
maybe I am nasty because I really didn't find it all that gross?secretagentphan wrote: Tue Oct 31, 2017 7:34 pm All I have to say is to the people saying Phil not picking Dan’s wedgie is antiphan proof...,,,,,, y’all are nasty and I hope to god you’re not picking your significant other’s wedgie. excited for the livestream tonight! but also a bit worried the entire chat will be spammed with "literal other half?!?!!" spamming their live shows never seems productive to me, but I guess we'll see if he says anything about it
