As people are saying, this person is on anon. People can lie on anon to start drama. Take everything you read online with a grain of salt until the actual o.p of said comment comes forward. The person responding to the anon is just assuming that happened. They aren't saying that they know for a fact anon is telling the truth, just giving a broad perspective on what might have happened. Also why assume the op wouldn't have deleted it themself? Sometimes people can get anxious over seeing a lot of interaction with something or realize what they wrote wasn't ok to write so the just delete it.

I'm just gonna come out right and say this, what the hell is everyone talking about with "too many lines broken lately"? I'm not sure how long a lot of you have been in the phandom, but this speculation/theorizing shit has been going on for years now. Literally all of last year was bus gate, this whole sharing a fucking room theory isn't a new thing! Of course it doesn't make it right or ok but a lot of you are acting like this is a new thing when it hasn't been at all. Sadly in the case of YouTube/twitter comments, You can't really stop naive and ignorant people from tagging them in shit, or talking theories in their comments, it's the unfortunate ugly side that every fandom has. Again it's not alright or ok, but it's also not something new.
Also this isn't the first time phil shut down rumors when people tweeted/posted about sharing a room/bed at them. When day in the life Japan came out, someone tweeted phil about sharing a bed. And he said haha no they were two beds and I wanted to pack it with me because it was so comfy or something like that. I don't feel bad for them having to shut down rumors due to privacy, what feel more bad about is the both of them having to deal with ignorant people who think it's ok to comment or tweet they're impulsive, unfiltered thoughts at them. There's many times and places for that talk, but it's most certainly not at dan or Phil or in they're work spaces when they try to interact with fans who actual don't care about their relationship status but want to know more about the content itself.
(This isn't what anyone is really saying but this is also worth pointing out) However, if people are talking about these theories and speculation is being discussed in places where d&p are not tagged or whatever, it is not fair to say we just shouldn't. As long as it's not being taken as the 100% truth or being in general angry that the speculation or theory isn't real, then it should be fine. Without it, places like here on IDB, would die without it when there's no content being made. It's conversations that keep it going, Positive and/or controversial. Wether you agree or disagree.

Idk, I may be reading too much into things, but I'm noticing that Phil acting a bit off or disingenuous recently has been a common thing people are saying. People have said that he was acting a bit off in his most recent liveshow, also the fact that his liveshow was so short. And now his sleepless night vid seemed insincere and he's (allegedly) deleting comment threads? (if that is true, I understand why. I wouldn't want people to be speculating about my personal life right in the middle of my youtube comments either.) I dunno. I guess I'm just a bit paranoid of a 2012-esque repeat but the fact that so many people (honestly, me included) think Phil's behavior online has been a tad off lately has been a worry that's been simmering in the back of my mind the past week.

I don't really wanna touch the bedroom issue, but I actually liked the video. Not my favourite, but it made me smile and I wasn't expecting a video today. I don't remember if I say before but I am so so so not a fan of those cat paintings of his lol. I'm glad he likes them and they're very...colourful?...but I don't think I could sleep in a room with those acid-trip kitties silently screaming at me all night.

I also nearly choked when I saw him drinking out of a flower vase but my "water glass" used to be a jam jar so who am I to judge honestly.

Ablissa tbh I wouldn't be surprised if it were true, since a few days ago I was going through Dan's comment section of the "stop emo-shaming" vid, and saw that he was "loving"/"hearting" some of the replies under some comments. I can't find it currently, but I saw a comment about the video "contradicting itself because it's called 'stop emo-shaming' and then Dan goes and shames his best friend for being emo", and Dan "loved" the reply where someone said that "that's the joke". they read the comments, so it's possible that Phil could delete that thread. maybe that anon lied, but for some reason I don't see the point in it. who knows.

Also, it makes me sad that most of the suggested improvements to the video even here are "add Dan", because that's "what the people want". Phil's last two videos have had Dan, half of his last 10 videos have had Dan, and his top 22 most viewed videos all have Dan. I hope that Phil doesn't feel like he's being relegated even on his solo channel into "Dan's sidekick". These videos being popular before is a good enough reason for him to make another one, because it's starting to worry me that he's struggling to stay relevant as a solo act.

and yes, onetruetrash, you're right, the comment chain just randomly stops loading and you can't post a reply if the original comment was deleted. but like malday said, if the thread even existed in the thirst place, it could be deleted by the original poster.

I go away two days and I come back to..I don't even know how to describe it.

I was extremely happy to see another sleepless night with Phil and of course I joked about him convincing us he uses the shoebox as his actual bedroom. I wasn't expecting anything else honestly, their bedroom is obviously something private that they don't want to share, and I don't see it really that different than other normal couples do.

The whole timestamp thing was funny to me when I first saw it, but the more posts I read the more...sad I get. It saddens me whether he just wanted to film something light and easy and just..shifted the truth a little bit and he's now being called out for it cause I think Phil tries hard and has been doing it for 10 years, and he's allowed a slip up.

But the idea he might have done it because the theories were bothering him makes me even sadder because.. well I'm sad he's upset obviously, but also it makes me sad that after all this time they don't feel comfortable/safe enough to just ignore it and live on. I'm not saying that they have to make a phan is real video or anything like that, but like I was wondering a few days ago, I wonder when things will change? If there ever is a wedding, or a dog or even just a forever home..would those steps be treated as such, or would they still cover them up with some explanation that no one even believes anyway?

I'm not sure I'm making sense since its 4am, but like it saddens me that they have to care about hiding it SO much. It kinda bitterly does seem a bit of a step back from all the amazing changes and openness we've seen since gamingmas, which is why I think it was more noticeable today that the video was staged and some things were being said/showed because he had to prove something.

I also like that somehow it's totally fine for Phil to be walking around the entire house and talking out loud in the middle of the night, but he only has to be quiet on that one tiny staircase? • He's rich.
• He gets more views per solo video than some youtubers will only dream of.
• Dat money tho.
• He's easily one of the most respected youtubers in the game (give or take a Green bro), by viewers and peers alike.
• $$$
• IRL Store is booming.

As a former Jonas Brothers stan, I've seen my fair share of The Kevin Condition™. It's probably not the greatest feeling for Phil, but if there's a single person on God's green earth that doesn't need to worry about competing with Dan, it's Phil. Because they're partners, in life and in business. And while, yes, it may seem that "AmazingPhil might just be Dan's third channel", I actually think the way they see it is that AmazingPhil, danisnotonfire, DanandPhilGAMES, and DanandPhilCRAFTS are all their channels. So, when Dan succeeds, so does Phil. And vice versa.

I don't think it's worth worrying too much for Phil.

In all, it felt like a long commercial for the gaming channel, complete with a clip of the Crash Ban. vid and time hyping upcoming DAPG videos (and yes he succeeded, I'm now excited for dream daddy I want to see them customize their avatar fuk it I'm trash). I loved the tour of the gaming room, but he definitely gave the mini-bts tour simply to spon the channel.

Forget his other degrees, did he secretly major in marketing?

It was some feel-good spon though, so yolo I guess. It felt like a liveshow, and there were some cute bits. seeing him in emoji PJs always makes me smile (also his legs are so long, I always forget that!).

Just a thought, does anyone who has a steam account know if it's true that when you quene a lot of games to download/update, it shows the starting quene time and not the actual time of the download ? Because in that case, then he didn't lie about the time at all, if he or dan set up a quene at 8 pm after they started updating and downloading games. I'm not sure if any of you remember being casual viewers of dan and phil, but this video was a definitely for sure way to "debunk" the sharing a room theories. With the "theories" not only popping up on my Instagram feed, but my other countless social media's, "casual fans" have come across these posts most definitely. But the thing is, as a casual fan, you don't really look too deep into the speculations regarding them, hence the word, casual.Of course the theory can hang in the back of your mind when you revisit their channel's, but most casual viewers don't tend to discuss them. however, if one does choose to pursue this act of finding clarity through the speculation, it might happen like this:

I can back this up with my own experience. In 2014, I stumbled across dan and phil for the first time, I watched the Photo Booth challenge as my first video, and from then on I sporadically went onto their channels. And I can't remember what it was that gave me the thought "is dan gay tho???"why was 2014 me like this but it provoked me to type that into the google search bar and go on looking for proof. Of course I wasn't even shipping them at all, I just wanted to know his "preferences"... after clicking on youtube and getting this video



this was more than enough to convince me that he was not infact, gay (or at least had no attraction to males)!!!.... *sigh*I still can't believe I was like this. While I can't speak for everyone, I am confident in that we sometimes, forget that the video's he puts out might not convince our hardcore corner of the phandom, but work for the meh shippers, casual viewers, or people who just like phils channel.

One thing confused me is that if they really don't want people to speculate about their private life or whether they sleep in the same bedroom then why did dan do the liveshow in the moon room and showed us each side of the room? He can do this liveshow in so many other places or he can put the camera extremely close to his face like phil did in his liveshow which makes me wonder if he did this on purpose. If so then he intended to start this discussion in the phandom of sharing a bedroom but then why phil made a video to clarify he sleep in that shoe box? Maybe they started the discussion on purpose but also don't want it to go too far?? Maybe showing the room is just dan's idea but not phils?

As for the whole "crossing the line" comments, it doesn't matter if you are new (which I'm not) to the Phandom, have only been here for 1 day or if you have been sucked in since it's inception, speculation/theorizing has always been a thing (for every fandom) and I get that and I don't have a problem with it most of the time but what I do have a problem with is the things that touch on very personal topics that may affect the person that we have an affinity for, why don't people understand that what they may see as joking may bother Dan and/or Phil and they shouldn't tag them in any of these speculations/theories. That's the crossing the line part that I meant in my other posts (not that you were specifically talking about me but since I'm the one that has said that phrase on more than one occasion recently). I just wish that these people that think it's funny to tag the guys, @ them or spam comments would grow the fuck up. We don't know Dan and Phil on a personal level, we don't know the things that bother them, we can't assume that these things are ok with them and taken with a grain of salt but what we do know about them is that they are sweet, kind guys that deserve to be treated better than to have this dialog (for years) on THEIR social media about them being together, not together, sleeping in the same bed, sharing a room, or whatever, it's none of the fans business and if people feel like it is their "right" to know, that's crossing the line.

My post was in no way calling out you or anyone here, but a general personal opinion to what some have been saying all over the phandom as of recently, not just here. I may disagree with a few things, which is fine as we're all entitled to our own opinions and can agree to disagree, but for the most part, we're on the same page. I'm not sure I'm making sense since its 4am, but like it saddens me that they have to care about hiding it SO much. It kinda bitterly does seem a bit of a step back from all the amazing changes and openness we've seen since gamingmas, which is why I think it was more noticeable today that the video was staged and some things were being said/showed because he had to prove something.

i don't like complaining about their glass closet bc they are allowed to do what they want, but this is just sad. it's 2017, they don't need companies to employ them anymore, nobody would be sh00k on the internet nowadays, not even a tiny bit, if they were publicly a couple. i'm just wondering how much keeping the secret has affected their mental wellbeing, especially when dan seems to be so much happier nowadays when he's been more open. as a queer person like probs many of you on this forum, i personally know how being in the closet (categorizing saying but its still the world we live in) really drains you mentally, and even tho deppy are "out" as individuals, can a person who has to completely hide one aspect of their life at least in their work x social media presence (as combining those two can alone be mentally tiring as there is no right answer to how you should do it) be ever actually happy? (plus the casual challenges which still affect same sex couples daily)

i really appreciate privacy and understand them, but tbh at the moment i think that the benefits of having a private relationship are smaller than the harm that comes from constantly keeping the guards up. maybe they are following that 2 year plan that ends on the forever home or something, but come on guys is it all really that necessary?

i think what i'm trying to say is would it be so bad to be "the gay couple" when everyone is fetishing the shit out of that already? it's being normalized, if you look at for example comments on news or facebook posts about gays, it's becoming harder and harder to find negativity. and phandom is already screaming about them 24/7, so what would it change? they don't need to post pictures kissing or start ditl's lying in the same bed, but not having to monitore your words so much in live shows, videos or social media wouldn't do harm for anyone's mental state or attitude to their job.

The response to this video is kind of funny. And a lot of other things. But I'm going to focus on the funny part. I love him, this is not to drag him, but Phil is 80% robot.

The funny part being: he's always been a robot. The degree varies ever so slightly over the years, but he is nothing if not confuckingsistent in how he presents himself to, and engages with, the audience. AmazingPhil, the man who is always on his 'best behaviour' even on the gaming channel he's the most casual on, the most unscripted, the channel with the most potential for unfiltered Phil Lester, is consciously filtered (overall family friendly) on every possible medium. No part of this is new information. And anyway, his robo-ness is a big part of what draws me to him (careful, we're entering Projection City): hardcore repression? Sign me up! It's #relatable. And fascinating: he's got the poker-iest poker face that has ever poker faced. But that same thing I'm drawn to can also, sometimes, become repellant. For the exact same reason. And it's frustrating, clearly, when sometimes it looks like two steps forward, one step back in terms of opening up a little more, sharing. Or even one step forward, two steps back. Change can be scary. Vulnerability is terrifying. 'They've been so open, it's a whole new world, blah blah blah'. No, it's the same world, just a new flat. Ever more generally relaxed? Sure. But: they've always had two flipping bedrooms and they've always portrayed themselves as sleeping in them. Separately. So guess what. They've still got two bedrooms and they're still portraying themselves as sleeping in them separately. You can believe them or not, but the message there has never wavered. So anybody disappointed or what.ev.er. about anything in this realm, the hellish realm of goddamn bedroom arrangements that will never ever mean what anybody wants them to mean, has only themselves to blame. Speculate away. Phil's old mirror in Dan's room? Sherlock it up. But if Dan is staring in your face in the moon room calling it his room and Phil's across the flat (or upstairs or wherever) in another room that he calls his, who is anybody to argue with that on any meaningful level, really. Based on what. It accomplishes exactly nothing.

Anyway, I love the Sleepless Nights. I didn't even hate this one; even if it was a bit underwhelming, it was enjoyable, it made me laugh. But they've become more 'fake' (structured?planned?) each time. You can't easily make a formulaic idea seem new/interesting/spontaneous each time the longer it goes on (coughISGcoughwhichIalsoquitelikebutcoughanyway). I think the main thing lacking for me in this one was: he's in a new flat! There was room to be different or spontaneous with a whole new setting to fuck around in. Or even just reflect for a tiny second about this series travelling with him to a new flat and if it feels different/better/etc? I mean, okay that sounds boring, but I just feel like there was potential for something more beyond just a little peek in the gaming room, even if they're not into the house tour thing and still want to be limited with what they show. Like even a plant tour, I don't know. He was just so on script, tight shots, needed to get it done and over with.. August Is Coming...

Back to RepressionBot: again, I say all of this with love and acceptance. Usually. I can't speak for actual Phil Lester because that man is mostly a stranger to me, but I believe it's fair to say that AmazingPhil is pretty repressed- otherwise he's quite emotionally shallow if this is all there is. But that's by design, that's how he wants it. People like to think of Phil as the sunshine (gag. just for the record.) and Dan as the dark whatever, but for the purposes of this upcoming pretentious metaphor, when it comes to being personal or vulnerable, Dan's the one who is sometimes too bright to look at and it's Phil who we squint at in the darkness, looking for a glow or glimmer of something. But he won't be any more forthcoming or emotional with us as he would be with a cashier or a waiter. It's all breezy and friendly, some jokes, some puns, until the transaction is over and he can go home and swear at Mario Kart and get his fuck on and sleep god knows where- all things that the cashier or cab driver or dentist or you or me have no need to be privy to, as far as Phil is concerned. Because he's in grandma-mode, best behaviour mode, when dealing with strangers. There is an intentional, and consistent, divide between us because that's how he's most comfortable. He doesn't seem to need or want more than that. So people expecting much more will always be disappointed (but hey it's totally understandable to want more; I'm in that boat. it's got a hole in it).

As far as any ~intention re: the timing of this vid: I think he just needed to get a video out and went with a reliable idea that didn't require much thought or prep (or even staying up all night cough cough some more). As people have already said upthread in better words: speculation isn't new. Frenzied speculation isn't even new. When it's getting annoying, they give a brief response ('two beds in Japan' 'fuck you onion') and move on. Maybe it was partially intended to be a subtle response, or maybe it's literally the status quo of anything they've ever done and it's just coincidentally serving as a banal reminder of how things are just like the sun rising everyday reminds us that the sun exists. Metaphors have gone off the rails, so I'm going to stop.

tl;dr: vid was okay, 6/10. The entire universe needs to relax and drink some water. Phil's okay. You're okay. Let's all watch Bubble Bobble and eat some Junior Mints.

I was a bit cranky and sleepy last night, rewatched today and had to smile; I do love and enjoy how Phil finds ways to amuse himself. It's one of the things I really connected with him about when I started watching and then I feel like I lost my ability to make anything fun because of life stresses and responsibilities and depression etc. When I see him making games out of eating candy in the middle of the night and just amusing himself in such cute ways, it makes me wish I still had that ability. I probably do somewhere deep down under all of my baggage, but I always feel a little bit closer to my old happy normal self when I watch him.

Ok guys, help me out here - am I just seeing the same wall differently (like the black/blue white/gold dress ) is it just shadowed because it was "the middle of the night"?

The Kool Aid picture shows the curved wall and it seems to be darker than the one from the dialated pupils video but the plant in the background seems to be the same plant. The contrast in color from the ceiling and wall in the Kool Aid picture is quite noticable but the picture with Phil standing next to the bamboo plant which is the same wall from his LS is very much white. If you look at the bamboo picture, you notice the dark wall that butts up to the curved wall and they are obviously different colors and you can tell by the baseboards - the dark wall has a darker baseboard but the white curved wall has a white baseboard, so what the hell is the set up of this flat? I was almost positive that based on what we've seen so far, kinda figured out that the white curved wall was by the kitchen which shares the same space as the wall of windows lounge and Dan's LS space. Also, at first I thought the room to the right in the dialated pupils video was the kitchen but now I think it's probably a pantry or maybe it's a bathroom cuz that place has to have a bathroom in the main living space (or one would think) but Phil had that door closed in the Kool Aid video so who knows. I'm just so confused and the more we see, the more confused I get.

Also, I saw this picture on pinterest - I wonder if their curved walls are just built in storage but then again, the seem to have baseboards in the flat but not in the pinterest picture. hmm.



I'm not trying to figure out where they live, just so curious about the blueprint of this flat.

Also, if they are so worried about noise in the gaming room, why not put the computers/desk on the wall that has the pullout on it - since one of those walls shares a wall with the slounge space they wouldn't have to worry about being right against the neighbors wall, they could keep the sound proofing tiles up to buffer the noise even more than just being on the opposite side of the room.

(I don't post very often and I never really express my feelings on issues in fandoms, so please forgive me if this makes no sense, or doesn't sound right.)

Reading through all the reactions on here and on other websites makes me get this deja vu sort of feeling. I just feel like I've read through this kind of response in the phandom constantly for the past 3ish years I've been around. We spend so much time talking and theorizing about things, and then when we get some sort of feeling that deppy have seen what we've been talking about we start talking about how bad things have gotten, when really it's always kinda been this way.

We beat ourselves up so much for being a horrid and invasive community. Which from some stand points I think that is true, i.e in cases there have been people who have gone to places where deppy are, and done or said things that were really rude or invasive. But on the other hand the majority of us aren't really that bad or that different from other fandoms I've been in, and in some cases way better and more self aware(I've never been in a fandom that has as much self policing as this one).

I don't feel like we should feel guilty about theorizing in places like this or in the depths of other social media, as we aren't forcing it in their faces. (that's the whole reason I'm on this forum in the first place as it finally makes me comfortable about talking about deppy).

Maybe this is just my problems with anxiety showing, but there was a point when I first joined this fandom that I felt so guilty from all the posts I would see around tumblr talking about how we are such an appalling group of people, and that we should be ashamed for talking about deppy's lives outside of their content that I just forced myself out of the phandom for months. Even though I hadn't ever posted or reblogged/retweeted a single thing about them (and completely missed the hype for the announcement of tatinof and quite a lot of other things lmao ).

Point is: I don't think we are all as bad as we make ourselves out to be, it's okay and normal for us to theorize and discuss things to the point of exhaustion as long as it isn't right in their faces, or is hurting them in some form.

I hope that was okay, I'm really nervous to post my opinions, and I'm really bad with grammar, but I'm gonna move to another topic so I can get some other things out with this little courage I've obtained.

I actually kinda enjoyed the video, but I'm a sucker for that sweet authenticity, so when I found out about the whole downloading time thing I first had a little giggle, but then when I thought about it a bit more the video kinda dropped in quality for me.

Their computer is so F-ING cool like,,, that's the gaming computer of my dreams, and even though I'm more of a console gamer I would kill for a computer that amazing. The whole time when he was in his room I was holding my breath for when he would turn the camera around so I could see the whole thing finally, but he never did . Also, I swear that was not a cup of sugar he put into the koolaid, as an American I'm offended that he would not put the full *ridiculous* amount of sugar in the drink smh.

I don't want to think he did the video in a response to theories and whatnot, I have a feeling it was more just on schedule, and was easier just to do it all in one go ( who knows maybe he was busy with a certain March related project that he needed a video that was faster to make. but what do I know ).

I was really happy to see this video after a long day of travel. I took a peak at it to see where it started off (before watching it with the hubs). Honestly, it's an AmazingPhil video, of course it's going to start off in the AmazingPhil room. That's his video background with his bedding. *But* he didn't even pretend he was trying to sleep at the beginning, he already knew he had had too much caffeine and he wasn't in his pjs yet. He just wanted to show off his snazzy dimmer switch (there's probably one in the moon room too) and how his decorating is coming along (very slowly).

He could have been more careful with his camera work or editing to not show the flooring of the room, but he did show it, more than once, and showed the gaming flooring too. (Where have we seen the wood flooring? Mostly on Twitter, Instagram, Dan's ls and a bit in Dan's emo video, but not in an AP video or Phil ls.) So if anything I think the message (if any) that he is trying to put out is "yes, we are keeping up the pretense of being platonic friends for the brand". I don't think he is panicking about their privacy. They must have heard about the flooring debate by now. I don't think this video actually convinced anyone who thinks they are sharing a room that they aren't and I doubt it was really an attempt to do so.

Is it still disappointing for those of us hoping they were moving towards something with being more open and transparent? Yeah, definitely, but We were listening to the TABINOF audiobook on the dive home today and it was just another reminder that they've always exaggerated things for entertainment value. They don't owe us total honesty, but they do deserve privacy.

Nah SinisterShipper the wall from this video appears to be dark grey, mostly flat, with a curve at the end. At least that's what I see. Those storage walls are amazing, but I haven't seen any seams on theirs.
