Truly we are blessed. But, personally, I really hope it doesn't start an issue with the whole "why was it filmed in Phil's tiny room?!/lol they're lying"... that's a discourse I'm not looking forward too if I'm being honest. I can't be assed to really care about that, that's their business. it's so obvious he'd film in the room where he does his videos anyways.
But aside from that, the timing of this is quite... suspicious? We had dan showing off what his room looks like on Tuesday and saying to give up trying to work out the layout. Then we had phil basically showing off the living room upstairs with a glass... the moving 2.0 theories are becoming more interesting by the day.

I am ALL FOR another sleepless night with Phil. I love those vids a lot, and I am a sucker for tradition and familiar things so it's always nice to go back to a series, even with all the changes of moving. I also don't really want it to bring up a huge conversation of "Look at the bedroom! They're lying!" and it's true that if Phil spends a lot of time in his room it is probably destined to. I at first had a thought that it could be like Japan DITL where he just skips the being in bed part...but then I realized that would make little sense in a sleepless night with Phil.

Also...I'm on board with maybe the timing of this being suspicious? Maybe? With Dan showing us the moon room and all that. But also I don't know what to think. Either way I'm excited.

I'm both excited and rolling my eyes at another sleepless night with Phil. I LOVE those videos don't get me wrong but I agree that it seems quite suspicious after all the bedroom talk that has been going on this week. Good luck to Phil trying to convince he gets a use of his shoebox of a room

I kinda have to agree with what jaej said a couple posts back. Why does it always have to be about deppy lying to us? Why do some people wanna prove they’re not telling the truth so bad? When they hide stuff they’re not doing it to deceive their fans, they’re doing it to protect the little privacy they have left. Dan might have shown us a bit of the moon room and speculating is fun of course but I think we need to be very careful not to overstep the boundaries that are still in place. Dan and Phil just deserve that imo. They put so much of their lives out there for our entertainment, the least we can do is not calling them liars for protecting what’s left of their privacy and prying into parts of their lives they clearly don’t want to be public at the moment.

I don’t know, calling them liars for keeping some stuff private and trying to find out stuff they obviously don’t want us to know is pretty much creepy behaviour to me. When Phil says he sleeps in that room then as far as I’m concerned he officially does. I mean, of course it’s fun to assume and speculate that it’s a set and there’s nothing wrong with doing that at all but once it goes from “I think the room might be a set, because of these reasons but I’m just speculating” to “Oh my god, Phil is lying and he will try to make us think he really sleeps in there next video but we know THE TRUTH, YOU CAN’T FOOL US, PHIL!” I’m out. We really know nothing, we just go by the scraps they give us and I think we need to remind ourselves of that now and then.

And I really can’t with the “But they’re giving us hints, they want us to find out!” We don’t even know if they’re really dropping these hints on purpose and even if they were, I doubt they want us to take it as far as calling them liars and getting angry they’re trying to protect some privacy from a truly invasive fandom. If they really wanted us to know, they’d just tell us, let’s be real. They might want us to speculate (which is a speculation in itself tho) but I doubt they want us to pry into private stuff and accuse them of betraying their fans for not sharing every detail. Speculating is fun and a normal part of fandom interaction but once speculation turns into accusations, prying and aggressive fixation on something someone doesn’t want you to know, I don’t think that’s okay anymore.

I mean, tl;dr: There's a reason Phil wants us to believe he sleeps in that room and whatever that reason really is (be it that he actually sleeps somewhere else or be it that that's actually his bedroom after all or something else altogether), I wish the phandom would respect him enough to accept it. Speculation is fun but imo there's a big difference between harmless speculation and accusing Phil of lying about the room or even getting angry that he's "still trying to make us believe" he sleeps in that room.

Concept: a sleepless night with Phil video wherein Phil actually does what he would on a normal sleepless night, which is bicker with Dan, eat too many snacks, watch animal videos on youtube, and play videos for six hours.

(also, I do agree with Katka. As much as the speculation is fun and I'm definitely guilty of getting wrapped up in it, the part that's fun is trying to guess the constant question marks of their life - there is no charge out of trying to prove a lie if the point is just to call them out for something. Especially not if you obviously think the reason they might withhold some information is just because they want their privacy.)

katka agreed!!! I personally don't believe Phil sleeps in that room, but I don't hold it against him for making out as though he does. I think it's really important that compassion and understanding are extended toward dnp in these discussions - at the end of the day Dan and Phil are not obligated to share with us a single detail about their lives if they don't want to. They're entitled to privacy, and if they feel the need to bend the truth somewhat in order to protect that privacy then fair enough. If, as a viewer of dnp, you [the general 'you'] feel hurt or betrayed that dnp have lied to you that's your problem, not theirs. Having said that, I don't think there's anything wrong with speculation based on things that they've shared with us so long as it is done respectfully, and for the most part I feel like discussion here over the last few days has been fine.

Also, HOW has it been a year since the cereal exposure tweets?? Time isn't real.

Katka, thank you so much for saying that! I couldn't agree more and I wish more people would share this view. yeah, the room is very small and it does look like a set, but there's indeed a reason why he says it's his actual bedroom. nobody should accuse him or Dan of being liars when it comes to where they sleep or whatever, because a) we don't actually know anything, b) let's be real, speculating and jokingly making up conspiracy theories can be fun and all, but it's still none of anyone's business, and c) it's their private life, I don't see a ton of blogs and accounts made to "prove" any other youtubers are lying about the beds they sleep in. overall, everything still comes down to a) nobody in the phandom knows anything. so it'll be sad to see everyone possibly making accusations and turning the theories (that were initially made for fun) into facts in the comment section of Phil's possible new sleepless night video. trust the phandom to make everything about phan proof and forget that DnP are real people who read their comments and tweets.

I don't see it as lying, I see it as overacting so as to not reveal the truth. #bedgate during TATINOF was so over the top it was comical. It makes me laugh more than anything else. I am a trashcan so I already think they are together, so the over-reaching efforts they go to to prove otherwise is silly.

in addition: sure, the timing of the video seems to fit in suspiciously well with all the apartment speculation, and yes, dip and dot do things for reasons, but it's so harsh to jump to lying and deceiving immediately. it could also be that phil had already filmed the sleepless night and dan decided to tease us with some apartment views in order to stir curiosity to see more of it and, hence, for phil's video. that doesn't take away the original point that even if its purpose was solely to show phil sleeping in his bedroom, that would also be understandable and okay in any case.

i also don't understand why so much of the sleeping discussion seems to be tied to the new apartment -- if they slept at least partially in different rooms in the old one, they probably didn't change their habits completely and still do. plus, as cute as a sleepless night with phil with the sound of dan's snoring in the background would be, seeing how loud phil was in the last one, i would hope he moves his filming to parts of the apartment where dan isn't sleeping.

I'm on vacation and super behind on everything (but always keep checking IDB, because y'all are awesome and give me life ), but I wanted to give a quick shout out to people who provided context for the Markiplier video before it becomes completely irrelevant, I've just watched it and found it enjoyable enough (except for Phil, but more on that later). So, thank you guys who explained the "Anti" thing!

Re: Phil acting, I think he can do it well enough, compared to Dan, for example, who's always OTT for me and, excuse me for saying it but I can't find a better term, quite campy (see Tomska's video for the most recent example). But to do it, Phil needs to ditch his persona, when he's doing sketches and impressions on his channel (gas leak, that swearing man - who was it, a taxi driver? Sorry, I can't check, I'm on my phone, but you know the one, science!Phil, etc.), he's really good imo. But that thing in Mark's video? Awful, Phil can't stay in his persona character and try to be threatening, he doesn't have the space even to subvert it. That said, I'm not saying Phil needs to ditch his persona full stop, he's obviously very comfortable with it, I'm all for people doing what they're comfortable with (there was a discussion on how deppy are different in their ls and that Phil doesn't really engage with his audience, but after the voldy leak, I mean... that must make you reevaluate the way you engage with your audience)

As much as I love the A Sleepless Night With Phil series the timing of this one is making me particularly anxious.

I agree with Katka that speculation on sleeping arrangements is all fun and games and fascinating, but fans shouldn't be bothering about it. They should be entitled to privacy.

I don't look forward to finding out what the reactions on the video comments section or Tumblr/Twitter/etc. will be.

But who knows Phil may surprise us all and change it up a bit or not show bedrooms at all.

If he ends up winning an award for best series for A Sleepless Night with Phil... :wtf: it's funny cos he mentioned having a sleepless night in his liveshow, but he didn't vlog that. It'd be funny if he starts it off by his blank liveshow wall and then just shows a sliver of the kitchen as he makes tea with whatever biscuit or crumpet he can find.

I can just see Phil making a "Sleepless Night" video where he makes cocoa in the kitchen, but he shows so little of it (as in not the refrigerator) so we don't notice that it's not in the kitchen of the new apartment, but rather the kitchen in a new house.
