I'm putting my on now. I bet Dan and Phil's place is bigger than Martyn's, but the Lester parents are still going to stay at Martyn's place when they come to London. Maybe they can't stay with D&P because the boys are in the middle of moving house like we have been predicting.
there was a complaint.alittledizzy wrote:#danandphilLIEShello9217 wrote:Ok but why did Dan say that the neighbor DID complain and Phil say that they were soundproofing just in case someone complained?

Oh maaaaaan, sounds like I missed a good liveshow. Waiting patiently for those awesome people to post some time stampsflarequake wrote:Love the black tshirt with silver Pikachu, very snazzy, and wearing all black plus glasses.

Oh that is interesting especially as Dans Grandparents stayed over in the flat! Maybe the Lesters are visiting to help with the move....somethingsketchy wrote:I'm putting my on now. Phil having his jacket right beside him makes me wonder if he'd just gotten in and took it off just before the liveshow started.

Moving again: Dan said himself 'this isn't a forever home' and comments on 'when a house is bought and there aint no landlord' So we know they're planning on moving again.onetruetrash wrote:That's weird. I wonder why he can't release it.malday wrote:

Their old apartment had loads of problems, if your lease was ending and you were living somewhere where people had stalked you and you'd had a gas leak and had all the noise, it makes sense to move from there into somewhere temporary.
Because they've asserted this place as temporary and they're gradually showing us more and more of it (moon room) I'm lead into thinking that they're testing it out and seeing what we will work out and how much they need to leave out for us to be stumped. I can tell you so many things about this apartment but I can't tell you where it is or what the floor plan is like.
This theory genuinely started as a bit of a shitpost because of the boxes in the background of Crash but the more I think about it, the more it makes sense that theres somewhere they know they're going to soon? That they own and can keep YouTube in a part of it and be free to have the rest of the house for themselves?
I'm not saying a move next week or even next month. I'm just saying, within the next 3-9 months I'm fully expecting a second move. Moving somewhere for a few months kinda makes sense to me as a way to test before they commit to somewhere they can't easily leave. They get to test out their security, they get to enjoy more privacy too. You can get short leases, and if all they needed was a short lease and didnt want to live in their old place for another year because they were moving to a forever home, this is a solution that makes sense.
Plus they get to experiment more with entire design, Dan's moon mirror is gorgeous. He has excellent taste.
Please feel free to tear this apart, I need to deconvince myself

meh. that liveshow was quite disappointing to me, i was bored which i don't think i've ever been in a phil liveshow before. definitely felt like he just didn't really want to do one or had anything to talk about.
he looked very pretty though. oh, and they optician talk WAS very interesting to me, as a person with very bad eyesight. (3.5? my one eye got 6.5 philly, you gotta catch up)
i love you all!!! all! for the apartment talk. your drawings and floor plans and whatever have been so interesting.
phil was DEFINITELY deliberately showing off reflection, i don't believe for a second that he didn't consider that we'd get a view of the apartment, especially since he even checked the reflection of his laptop. they are fucking with us and testing how far they can go and apparently are pretty pleased with seeing that they CAN go quite far while still being safe and keep privacy. (i am pleased as well.)
i really hope tom's collab hasn't been totally scrapped, just delayed. it seemed like a very fun sketch.
[offtopic]i wrote an exam today (last exam of the semester, wooh ) and was finished really quickly and then had to wait over an hour until i could go. which meant i was daydreaming about meeting deppy and having casual conversations. please tell me i am not the only one who does that? I really wonder very often how people who aren't fans even live their lives.
like, all the others around me were so bored and annoyed and i was just sitting there chilling in my own world. or what are you up to on your phones? what do you do in the evening? what even are your LIVES? i don't understand non-fan people, and i don't understand what my life was like before.[/offtopic]

I was laughing at that too. All the tests and things are like second nature to me. I'm at -5.5 in one eye and am literally fully blind in the other. And I do think that, while they have said that this place is temporary, they're not moving any time soon. I think they have plans for the future, but that's really all they are, plans.
And if they wanted out of there, they surely could've waited a few extra months, right? They lived there for nearly 5 years, I don't think staying a few extra months would be significantly harder than moving, spending money on a new place, etc.
True, all of this is true. The biggest thing I am convinced of though is that they wanted to leave the old place, have plans for the future, but need an interlude. Does that make any sense? Regardless of wether or not they're moving soon, I definitely think an advantage to this move is they get to test our their security for their next place.onetruetrash wrote: Well, they can't hide forever, so that's probably why we're seeing more and more of it.

The thumbnail is frightening, so was the thumbnail on YouNow. Cripes, Phil, don't worry about writing a horror movie screenplay, just whack out the dilated pupils up close and a bit of Photoshop.
Didn't occur to me at all that he was holding up his prism-glass to show us a reflection of his windows. This stuff just doesn't enter my head very easily, but that's funny.
Ages ago when he talked about bad eyesight I mentioned my dad in the chat, which soon whizzed past. His glasses were -8 for years, only a uni friend ever had a higher prescription, but then when he got older he got cataracts and once those were sorted he had a huge improvement and could see white properly again. So there's my contribution to that
I'm with you there, fondsmiles. Every day for the last two years if I'm honest, not something I thought I'd admit either, but I used to have imaginary conversations with my English teacher when I was mostly stressed about school rather than having a pointless crush, your brain and heart just latch onto someone sometimes, I think. Before Deps I hadn't been a fan of anyone so deeply for a very long time. I thought I liked a few actors, but even Chris Evans doesn't hold a candle to how my heart feels for these two.

Took some screenshots of the chat for us to analyze.

In this one I see a large window to the right and a door open to a hallway in the middle. It looks like he is sitting at a white table with blackish chairs.

But in this one it looks like there are two sets of windows and his glasses indicate that as well.

moving: my take on this is that they were planning on moving to their 'forever home' when the lease in their old apartment was over in may, but they found out in March that they couldn't by then and the landlord had already signed a lease with someone else? Or maybe it was a one-year-lease-or-nothing situation.
Liveshows: Dan's ls definitely seemed off to me on Tuesday. I can't pinpoint what it was exactly, but the vibe was different. Even when I rewatched. And all the emphasis on not wanting to show us his room and then showing us about half of it? I remember one bit where he turned the camera to show his mirror but he turned it the wrong way. That seemed kinda planned to me idk maybe I'm speculating too much. Phil's ls was strange as well. I definitely believe those reflections were done on purpose. It's like they're trying to distract us tbh. But something is definitely up.
Also, anyone wanna share any theories about Phil's mum staying with Martyn and not dnp? I feel like there's more to that.

My thought about them staying with Martyn was that Phil needs his room for filming and I don't think they have another bedroom. Also, deppy need to film and stay up really late, which might not be hospitable for guests. I didn't think Dan's grandparents stayed overnight, thought it was just a day trip.leaveimreading wrote:moving: my take on this is that they were planning on moving to their 'forever home' when the lease in their old apartment was over in may, but they found out in March that they couldn't by then and the landlord had already signed a lease with someone else? Add me to the list of those fed up with Phil shortening his live shows. Although I'd rather he do a short one than cancel, which seems to be Dan's go to.

I agree with this. I agree this is pretty likely. Certainly something went down in March that involved the move. I think they had to find somewhere to stay and fast. It's not to hard to find short term leases on apartments in London if you've got the cash to burn. There have been so many hints at a 'forever home', 'getting a dog', 'this year being about life things' & general nesting behaviour that has me thinking that you all might be onto something.leaveimreading wrote:moving: my take on this is that they were planning on moving to their 'forever home' when the lease in their old apartment was over in may, but they found out in March that they couldn't by then and the landlord had already signed a lease with someone else? Also, I don't know if this is my hatred of minimalism in a living environment shining through, but does anyone else think this place is a bit empty?
I know we haven't seen much of it and they've not been living their long but it seems like so much of their stuff is just missing when the whole point of moving was more space for the stuff.
I keep thinking of things like Dan's guild wars memorabilia and Phil's background toys. The amount of DVDs and books on those shelves in Dan's LS is laughable compared to the amount we know they actually own.
Most of what we're shown has been in front of blank walls or stood next to a plant.
I get being hesitant due to privacy, (which they are definitely entitled to), But then why not just film in the slounge or Dan's office rather than a room they don't want us seeing?
Basically the moon room is the only room that I think looks lived in so far. And it makes me wonder if the reason so much of their stuff isn't there is because they weren't planning on staying long to begin with.

I was thinking about the guys today & trying to imagine them on "cleaning day". (I hope this doesn't sound creepy). Their place is very large & knowing that they like to listen to music while cleaning...them dancing around with a broom/vacuum, dusting, sweeping & swaying hips.
Sorry about this....I just had to get my mind off trying to figure out the layout of their flat & think of something less confusing & more cutesy & domestic.

I agree that the place looks a little sterile, but I am sold on the moving theory so....but seriously, it just doesn't have the same vibe as the last place and like if they were planning on staying I'd say it would start getting some homey characteristics bc even if there is stuff they want private there's no point in making what they do film in kind of lifeless. I mean they know that their fans connect with them personally so to permanently erase any of that authenticity they had before just doesn't seem like the smartest plan. I'm not saying they can't or shouldn't have private spaces but their public spaces should also feel inviting and cozy, imo. I just think all their stuff isn't at this place or it's still in boxes so it can be easily moved to the new house whenever they start heading that way (soon is my guess. I'm sticking with 6 month lease idea until it passes 6 months)
I wonder if Dan and Phil might maintain their privacy better in the future just because (I might be naive) people aren't interested in finding their address and sharing it. I don't see that as behavior that's going to get you anything but attacked (for good reason). Wishful thinking probably.

Re: Phil's liveshow - Pleasant, but nothing special. He seemed kind of distracted/not fully into it, but I think that's probably because of the pupil dilation. I've had that done before and it's really unpleasant, it's difficult to concentrate on anything as your eyes feel so sensitive to light. I'd bet that's why he didn't seem as present as he usually does, when I had it done I went straight home and lay down in a dark room for hours so kudos to him for getting on with his liveshow.
His presents for his mum were really sweet, and I hope they go see Wicked as it's one of my favourite musicals that I've seen. I agree with others who've said his parents probably aren't staying with dnp due to the logistics of filming late at night/dnp's general nocturnal tendencies.
Re: Confusing apartment - Judging by the reflections in the glass, it looked to me like Phil was sat at a table in the upstairs lounge. I wonder if the kitchen and/or dining area is up there, kind of to the left of the tv? There was that snapchat Bryony posted a while ago of their dining table with the grey table runner on it, so maybe it was that? Is that the same table Dan was sat at in the meme video, or another one?
Agree with others that much of what we've seen of this apartment does seem kind of empty/minimalistic/impersonal. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of it is in storage in preparation for a future move. I don't feel like they're moving in the next month or so (although, willing to be proven wrong! something's definitely gonna go down in August, so why shouldn't it be moving), but I wouldn't be surprised if they're out of this apartment by the end of the year. It doesn't scream 'long-term' (as in, upwards of a year) to me at all.
Also, I was thinking just now that it's weird we haven't seen more of the slounge. Like I thought the whole point of that room was that it was less personal than the others, decorated in much the same way that their old lounge-room was and therefore practical to film in. Yet, we've seen barely anything of it. Phil seems to have stopped doing live shows in there altogether, so like.. what is the point of that room? Will we ever see it again? I never would have thought we'd see more of the upstairs lounge than we would the slounge, but there we go

[offtopic]I love how I know i'm in the older part of the phandom when this is a discussion I can have I just like them so I'm gonna try and find them - hopefully they are pretty easy to find/not expensive[/offtopic]mesmericphilip wrote:[offtopic]i subconsciously bought glasses that are really similar to phil's when i got home, sparkle wrote:[offtopic]Can anyone find me those glasses? i was like "oh. phil has these." but theyre tortoise shell glasses, pretty common at most glasses stores. (idk if this helped or anything but i thought it was a funny coincidence so)[/offtopic]
