That was hilarious, I hadn't laughed so hard in ages. Dan did look cute in those too-tight clothes and with his hair pushed back, also "I did an exercise" was adorable. Pretty extreme all the way through, but they did it well.
In a twist of events cherrybomb3 is actually Anthony.Whommel wrote:bluebox-away wrote:

Yes, but the editing decision to actually use it in the video was made after ...
Anthony reads IDB confirmed.
I loved that video so much. The height difference at the beginning set the tone so well. Dan just immediately towered over Anthony while Anthony kind of looked affronted and in awe at the same time. I especially loved the exercise part and Dan's mystified tone over discovering what a muscle is. (Because honestly that's how I feel when working out, just, "what is happening, what is this, where is the muscle, why am I doing an exercise??")
They get on so well and the small remarks throughout, with Dan pointing out Anthony's "nasally" voice and Anthony practically swimming in Dan's shirt were just some of the many details I enjoyed about this. Really looking forward to the video with Phil now.
I really enjoyed the Danthony collab, I genuinely laughed out loud a few times. It's been a while since we've seen Dan in a funny and well thought out video like this, it showed of Dan's comedic talents better than most of the stuff he has uploaded in the last year and it looked like he enjoyed doing it. The video dragged on a bit and got repetitive at some points though, but videos shorter than 10 minutes ain't gonna make dough in this economy so quantity over quality it is. All in all, a very succesful collab and one of my faves that Dan has ever done.
I'm still really upset that we didn't get a hug in the TATINOF documentary. In a triumphant and happy 'holy shit we did this' scene kinda way. I was robbed.Artdefines06 wrote: WHY CAN HE HUG ANTHONY BUT NOT PHIL!!!! IT'S BEEN 20 BILLION YEARS AND HUNDREDS OF VIDEOS AND NO HUG AND IT MAKES ME SO SAD...
Phil favorite game: Tweeting a pic from a dish, drink or a tiny part of the decor and watching us all fall over ourselves in order to find the place they're at. I'm genuinely convinced he does it on purpose just or his own amusement. I would.moaninglisa wrote:

Okay I third the disappointment at lack of a hug in the TATINOF documentary. Though they were awfully sweaty. I'm going to assume/pretend they hugged after their first U.K. performance. Like they must have been so proud. We got "Hey Phil, let's go home" instead, which is lovely but... Also no BONCAS hug
Hmm toasted marshmallow cocktail. I guess Dan found someone who appreciates both sweets and fruit. Sophisticated guy. Now can we all pretend to jump ship to Danthony to see what kind of phan content they give us in response?

The lack of hug is odd. Like, I have some friends who I'm super huggy with, and some who I maintain a respectful distance to at all times. But it is a bit odd to NOT show physical affection after something so big? It's celebratory, and it's a little sad they didnt do something because it's a time when (for lack of a better phrase) its a social norm to do so? Even a stupid handshake like Josh and Tyler do in the Stressed Out video? Its triumphant, it's a time when its more normalised to touch because its a celebration.
I wonder if that had happened now, after everything thats happened in the last few months, what would we have seen? Would we have seen a hug?
Also, it would have been a great time to out Phan if its real, just saying.
(i've convinced myself so much at this point its a matter of time before I try and write a fanfic I swear to god...)
edit: I'm now a living flop, how appropriate.

I haven't seen the document, so I don't know how that moment looked like, but I can understand Dan and Phil not hugging. The audience was consisted of their fans, of which a good amount ships them. The audience would have screamed their lungs out making the platonic "yay we finished the show" -hug into a phan proof thing and probably awkward on stage. We would see this hug in every phan shipping fan video as proof, when the hug would have been celebratory. Or this is just my interpretation of why they possibly didn't hug.sparkle wrote:The lack of hug is odd. this is obviously just speculation, but i could understand very well if hugging in public is the line they draw -- either they're not really huggers in private and it'd be weird to do start doing it for the sake of a camera alone, or they are and don't want to share a private ritual it with us. if they hugged again, it'd be a very giffable moment, maybe sparkled with a dose of "is this fanservice?" discussion. i think it's beautiful to see them being so much more relaxed with physical contact on screen, but maybe they want to keep the hugs to themselves

The moment people are referring to actually took place backstage after the show, not on the actual stage. It's totally understandable that they didn't hug, but it would have been fitting.ananas wrote:I haven't seen the document, so I don't know how that moment looked like, but I can understand Dan and Phil not hugging. For me the end of the documentary was like the end of an era almost? I don't think a hug at every show is appropriate or necessary. But it did feel like it would've made more sense? It would have felt like closure? For me it would have been more fitting.ananas wrote:I haven't seen the document, so I don't know how that moment looked like, but I can understand Dan and Phil not hugging. But I agree it would have been in every Phan proof video. And half of the stuff in those is out of context/edited/blurry.
I don't think they were concerned with the audience screaming (fan fiction segment) but I do think they are extremely careful about what they do and don't show on camera. I have a feeling they are as careful within the community itself too.

A great time for who? Using the end of their filmed stage show to confirm their relationship would have been a lucrative time to do it, because it would have encouraged people to sell their soul to YTRed to view it in all its HD glory, but would have amounted to them literally exploiting their private relationship for short-term financial gain. Not really their style. And I think for as much as people would be happy to know, I don't think going that method would have been very well-received what with the whole angle of 'taking selling out to a whole new level'. People were annoyed enough with it being on YTRed to begin with.sparkle wrote:The lack of hug is odd. Opinion changed, bad time for it. Good time in the sense that they were riding such a high. Bad time because fuck putting something like that behind a paywall.

Did anyone else notice Anthony rubbing Dan's back while they were hugging? Meanwhile Dan's hands were completely still the whole time. I don't know if Phil was present for the filming. I'm pretty sure Anthony has a camera man who did the actual filming.
On the subject of Dan and Phil hugging, the fact that they've only done it once on camera makes me believe more in Phan bc I feel like it would be very Dan to want to keep that part of their relationship just for them. But the fact that the one time they did it it was initiated by Dan confuses me. And why then? Plus, since they did already do it once, why not do it more in appropriate contexts like the BONCAS? I wonder if they hugged as soon as they got offfstage. But I will defo take some acting where Dan hugs Anthony bc we get to see closer to what he actually hugs like instead of when it's an underage girl he's never met before.
So, to sum up, the whole Anthony video had me overcome with surprise at getting such fan service from Dan. Although I shouldn't be surprised with everything he's been doing lately.

Wow! I really enjoyed the Anthony video! I don't want to rehash what everyone's already said, but yes to all of it.
I think the only original thought I have to contribute is that, honestly, before Anthony mentioned them, I'd never really paid attention to Dan's lips before. But now that I've taken a second to really look at them...Anthony is not wrong! His lips are gorgeous!
Phil is one lucky man

Ok I don't really understand why the hugging convo is going so hard right now, but I feel the need to butt in with my interpretation of that stage hug because I just can't shut up today. Phil put out his arms in that shrugging (or some other word that's not coming to me) motion and Dan perceived it as an invitation to hug and (in his high-energy 'yes, and' stage mode) went for it because denying it in front of a crowd like that would have been more awkward than the hug they ended up following through on. But it only happened because of a physical misunderstanding imo, so I don't even count it. Go rewatch it for me and see if that checks out (edit: this sounds weirdly demanding: I mean I can't go on YT rn to see for myself but it's how I remember it, BUT I haven't watched in a long time bc I find it too awkward so don't take my word for it..is what I meant..). But as to why don't they hug: because they don't feel like it, the end.Susanisnotafish wrote:On the subject of Dan and Phil hugging, the fact that they've only done it once on camera makes me believe more in Phan bc I feel like it would be very Dan to want to keep that part of their relationship just for them. Being aware of all the intentions and meanings outside viewers would put on something that should be a pretty casual/simple (and undoubtedly is in private) physical show of affection kind of makes it not worth it. The loosening up they've been doing is basically the same thing, so whatever. The fact that we're all wishing for one so it 'wouldn't be such a big deal' is what makes it a big deal and, I mean, it's possible they'll do it eventually and it won't be a huge thing (eventually) but knowing people are watching and wanting it probably weighs on any desire to do it. Navigating the line between not caring/doing what you want and doing what you want while being overly aware people want you to do it regardless of your feelings on it is an ongoing fiddly business. It's a struggle between deciding what feels natural and mostly ok (wanting to do something, decide what other people want doesn't matter because it's worth it to you) vs what feels like a self-conscious performance to sell part of yourself you're not (yet?) fully ok with (wanting to do something, resent that doing it will be giving in in some way to forces outside yourself, even if you want to do it. Not doing it feels better). IMO.
Overall though they're still feeling it all out and I feel happy about it, not sad.
Thanks and have a great day! Oil me
Holy shitballs that took me a while of searching (flashbacks to my duck and waffle adventure smh i only show up to detective out things i stg) but I found the drink and the bar! And my dudes it's a cool one, It's such a Phil bar oh my god. Without further ado, here from the same maker of the table/wall/butterdish comparison post last time, I bring you Phil Drink Locator part 2.
It's a bar in Singapore called the Tippling Club, and what they do is play with smell. Like their menu is strips of paper with the drink names on them, spritzed with different scents meant to signify the drinks. I can't even fully explain it. But it's cool.
This is their menu.
First here's Phil's drink again for comparison: Now here's another image of the same drink, it's called the Campfire.

And here's the icon of the bar which matches Phil's coaster.

Another puzzle solved. Cocktail menu analyst team over and out.

(haven't had a chance to watch the Danthony vid yet but from what I've seen it looks hilarious, and with regards to hugging fancybum summed up my opinions)
Good find! I stalked their Tripadvisor and it's the same decor and everything, so Phil is really out there trying to fool us tweeting out old holiday pics smh.
