Chiming in re: meet and greet drama, I totally agree with dizzy
Maybe it is vidcon mistake to believe that nobody will cheat their way into m&g hence not checking sooner if they have legit stikers/wristbands and only panics once they see they're hitting overtime/ the number of people left doesn't add up with the time passed, especially when deps probably only agree for 250 people or about 3 hours
but I totally agree that you don't get to complain and blame vidcon is unfair etc when you get caught for breaking the rules
I also agree that this is the fairest way to get m&g because it gives everyone equal chance

Thank you autumnhearth for the transcript.
All the M&G pics are nice.
I really like their pic with Tyler. They all look good, but Phil looks extra good in that one.
I’m curious about this mega colab with Markiplier, hope it’s good/funny. Also hope that Deppy will do quite a few collabs while at Vidcon.

me too! i mean they must have discussed it beforehand to some extent, but i'd be really curious to know how much preparation they need to tell a story like this so fluently. it also makes me happy to imagine them spending the time at the airport or on the flight talking about changing their performance to this. like if that had happened to me i'd have probably cried so it amazes me that something creative came out of itArtyJim wrote:im always so curious about their creative process. that on stage storytime was so entertaining my cheeks hurt from smiling for 15 mins straight. but i also wonder how scripted it is, which is not a bad thing at all, they just seem so practiced? i dont know exactly what im even trying to say i just got back from a rpdr party. but i do wonder if they took time on the plane maybe to work out the structure of the story and who was going to talk about which part? they're so good on stage together. they have such good back and forth and it's all very natural imo. and it helps that they seem to enjoy what they do.
i noticed that too and i was thinking that this particular "rhythm" of interaction seems to be what they're most comfortable in in unscripted interactions. they seem to be constantly double-checking with each other to see if they're good with what's happening and??? idk i'm a bit emotional today this isn't really a valuable addition to what you said sorrysaffarinda wrote:Dan and Phil in Markipliers video... it's so interesting to see how they automatically dive right into their dynamic and just create a steady rhythm. yes me too i crave that content. phil, give me the jenna marbles collab i've been craving, and dan, collab with nathan zed or never speak of it again. >:(SquishPhan wrote:I’m curious about this mega colab with Markiplier, hope it’s good/funny. Oh yes, collabs with Jenna Marbles and Nathan Zed would be amazing. I'm trying to think who else, but my brain's too frazzled from unearthing everything my dad ever put away in our garage (everything, seems he didn't throw things away, I have half an oven in there).
I'm also curious for this. I'm assuming they didn't sit together on the plane (because how likely is it that the last two seats are next to each other?) but they obviously had a lot of time to plan telling it because they were stuck at the airport. I'm also curious to know what the original plan was. They are very good performers and have good comedic timing (I definitely think TATINOF helped with this) so I wouldn't be surprised if they had put across a loose plan and used their natural chemistry rather than scripting the whole thing.lurker wrote:me too! i mean they must have discussed it beforehand to some extent, but i'd be really curious to know how much preparation they need to tell a story like this so fluently. it also makes me happy to imagine them spending the time at the airport or on the flight talking about changing their performance to this. like if that had happened to me i'd have probably cried so it amazes me that something creative came out of itArtyJim wrote:im always so curious about their creative process. that on stage storytime was so entertaining my cheeks hurt from smiling for 15 mins straight. but i also wonder how scripted it is, which is not a bad thing at all, they just seem so practiced? i dont know exactly what im even trying to say i just got back from a rpdr party. but i do wonder if they took time on the plane maybe to work out the structure of the story and who was going to talk about which part? they're so good on stage together. they have such good back and forth and it's all very natural imo. and it helps that they seem to enjoy what they do.
Honestly, this makes me desperate for an adult aimed D&P podcast. I think it would be funny as fuck and I love me a good podcast. Even if they read out and commented on the phone book I'd be into it

As I was literally listening to My Dad Wrote a Porno while I read this - thanks for the great suggestion, Phil - my first interpretation of "adult aimed podcast" was D&P reading bad phanfic and lol'ing about it I'd listen to it!sparkle wrote:Honestly, this makes me desperate for an adult aimed D&P podcast. aaah omg i need this in my life. too sad that dan (and phil perhaps) probably aren't lurking right now to see this.sparkle wrote: Honestly, this makes me desperate for an adult aimed D&P podcast. what do you think they could talk about on a podcast? i am struggling a bit to imagine what they'd do, as they obviously wouldn't want to share too personal things, so they'd maybe want a specific theme that makes it easy to stick to. i just can't really think of what that could be.

If they ever do a podcast, I think it'll be the likes of their radio show + ISG but without the music and Dan's alcohol. Since they wouldn't want to get personal, they'd find a way to make the topic not be about them, and they can do that through audience participation. So I'm guessing they'd let audience call in, or tweet or email them, and give them advice, or have their guests give them advice. And the topic would mostly be safe for work, like education, relationships, dealing with bullies, dealing with anxiety, etc. . Sorry I'm not the most articulate person, I hope somebody gets what I'm trying to say.fondsmiles wrote: what do you think they could talk about on a podcast? i am struggling a bit to imagine what they'd do, as they obviously wouldn't want to share too personal things, so they'd maybe want a specific theme that makes it easy to stick to. i just can't really think of what that could be.

P: What are you doing?
D: I'm feeding it to you.
P: Why is it so slow?
I've just downloaded the first episode to listen to. Theres loads they could do, they could take fan suggestions? I'd be interested to hear them talk about media news, like books they like or games they like, any interests they have? My favourite podcast is Whats Say You? by Sal and Q from Impractical Jokers, I'd like them to do something like that. Maybe something like an adult Super Amazing Project? Dedicated sections that differ every week??

I'd imagine a podcast with would be something like "Going Deep with Dan and Phil" where they pick some topic that nerds are into and just go to town. It would be fun because it wouldn't have to go too deep or too personal, they wouldn't have to be experts on the subject (since they're just having fun talking about aliens or the apocalypse or whatever), but it would provide fresh content for each episode and they'd be free to stray from the topic a bit if they wanted to.fondsmiles wrote:aaah omg i need this in my life. too sad that dan (and phil perhaps) probably aren't lurking right now to see this.sparkle wrote: Honestly, this makes me desperate for an adult aimed D&P podcast. I also like the ideas of making it ISG-esque, or them talking about their personal interests. They already do that in liveshows so I don't think things like books and TV shows they like are too personal of topics, and it'd be cool to hear them discuss them more in-depth.

Also, I can't imbed on mobile (or maybe I can and I just don't know how to) so I thought I'd say that floraljoon on twitter said that Dan and Phil got to the creator party, went and got food, then went to sit by themselves - that is the shit I crave tyvm (superwomans vlog with them sitting, talking in the back still has me living). They also played DDR together, honestly it's so sweet.
edit: about podcast - all i can think of is the ribena liveshow where someone in the chat goes "get a podcast" and dan says "We have a fucking radio show!" honestly

I just watched Jenna and Julien's Q&A on the VidCon live stream, and they said some sweet things about . I am too ill and tired to do a transcript, but you can go watch the segment yourselves. It's the first streamed event after the live stream hosts' introduction.

Just caught up with the vidcon stuff. Their story about the flight, I can't tell how much they've over exaggerated or if they're just two incredibly unorganised people. Either way, how can they always end up having to run for a flight/train. Anyone remember the #whywasphilrunning when he was spotted in Euston station as he was late for the train! Or the time he was going on the family holiday and also had to run through the airport!
I'd be interested to know what they had planned to do if they hadn't had this story to tell. I did enjoy listening to their rendition of it, made me laugh a few times especially when Phil outrightly blamed Dan even though he booked the car an hour too late. Not sure their flight was "in the middle of the night" as Dan said seeing as the creep shot of them was taken around 7:30am, although to these two that probably is the earliest they've been awake all year.

I attempted to timecode, only found one mention tho:somethingsketchy wrote:I just watched Jenna and Julien's Q&A on the VidCon live stream, and they said some sweet things about . -2:41:00 - Someone in the audience shouts out "Dan Howell!" when Jenna says she wants a giraffe and she coos over him a bit, then says Julien loves them both and Julien says how he sat on a couch with them and it was amazing.

So I was on a car journey home after visiting people, and in the odd moment between waking up in the car and being fully awake, I was gazing at the lush pastures that surrounded me, also known as British countryside, and had the thought that if Dan and Phil were ever found kissing in a picture or vlog at one of those youtube parties, what is the likelihood that they would treat it as the cake scene or .
But, seriously, they could literally just ignore it. People could ask all they want on twitter or liveshows, even interviewers attempting to grab views/purchases could ask, and they could just go "What picture? Idk what you're talking about... I've never heard of any picture" and it would simultaneously be the most hilarious and frustrating inside joke ever.
this was such a pointless, off-topic post but i'm still slightly tired so i'm gonna post it anyway

Interesting. The biggest Phan proof we have (the V-day video) is copyrighted to Phil so he has copyright and can nuke it every time it gets uploaded. They denied the shit out of it. If they were kissing though in the back of something and nobody caught it in editing (say Louise had it on film, I can see that being cut) they'd have no power over it.saffarinda wrote:So I was on a car journey home after visiting people, and in the odd moment between waking up in the car and being fully awake, I was gazing at the lush pastures that surrounded me, also known as British countryside, and had the thought that if Dan and Phil were ever found kissing in a picture or vlog at one of those youtube parties, what is the likelihood that they would treat it as the cake scene or .

If it happened I'm 50/50. Dan likes control, Phil likes privacy - so I think they'd deny it. However, with how they've acted recently, would they maybe just be like 'fuck it'? And come clean? I don't know which is more like them, they have a history of denying and lying. (I realised the extent of which when I rewatched their Draw My Life videos the other day) Would they really do anything else but deny?
just had a thought, can you imagine if a video came out from backstage at VidCon and they were undeniably, obviously, kissing, and they let it be uploaded because they're trying to tell us without telling us that Phan is real

For all the speculation over how/if DnP would ever come out, I think this is the most likely scenario. Or maybe I just need to believe that because I want it to happen so badly. I am forever torn between respecting their choice to keep their relationship private and dying to know the truth. I blame all those x-files episodes I watched as a kid. They left me with an unquenchable desire to know things especially things that are undeniably none of my business. The truth is out there!sparkle wrote:

i think this is such an interesting thought experiment. i definitely can't see them just letting something stay in someone elses video. i don't think they'll ever tell us but i do think on the off-chance that they do, it'll be them telling us, i think dan's too much of a control freak and phil's too private to just let it happen.sparkle wrote:

But! So many of the variables that probably played into the V-Day relationship(like just coming into fame, financial instability, privacy stuff) seem to be either gone or not as big of a concern as they were a few years ago that I honestly don't know how I feel they'd respond. Especially with this hypothetical second video being the second one, there's no real denying it, but then do they have a Big Serious Talk with us or just play it off as lol you all knew anyway.

I thought about the v-day vid, but then I was thinking with their recent jokes of just pretending it didn't occur... it seems like something they could do (if they were comfortable with it being out on the internet).sparkle wrote:Interesting. They do love their privacy though, but I think they've learnt that responding to stuff like exclamations that they were kissing or anything doesn't work, Dans response to the vday vid is a literal "The lady doth protest too much, methinks" imo; combined with the already long running joke... they could make it work.
What lies were you talking about regarding the Draw My Life vids?
Honestly though, I can't see them being the sort of people to post a coming out video, or a "We're together!" video. They both hint towards being not straight in liveshows, and feel no need to do any coming out videos - just allow attraction to be made known. Which is smart, because skeptical people can interpret it as them making jokes or just commenting on aesthetics rather than physical attraction.
If they ever wanted to tell people phan was real, they'd just let it slip into the background of a picture or vlog or video, let people find it, then let the shitstorm occur and just continue. They're not the type to tell their life stories for twenty minutes whilst crying (not shading youtubers that do, but dnp are some of the least likely people to do that).
You're right about Dan being a control freak though, queerofcups so maybe just a mention in a liveshow? I just can't see them making a big thing out of it tbh.

I completely agree! I’m so torn - I want to know the definitive truth, no bullshit. But I also respect their privacy. Damn my love of thrillers - I want to get to the bottom of everything. I am an adept digger (stalker) but there is no definitive proof with these two and it bugs me!sapienveneficus wrote: For all the speculation over how/if DnP would ever come out, I think this is the most likely scenario. I think there are things that everyone of YT keeps private and their peers respect. Look at Emma and Luke, I genuinely did NOT expect them to be together and then boom, they had been dating for years?! And there were photos of them kissing. YouTube has its secrets, and everyone is a secret keeper.queerofcups wrote: i think this is such an interesting thought experiment. i definitely can't see them just letting something stay in someone elses video. i don't think they'll ever tell us but i do think on the off-chance that they do, it'll be them telling us, i think dan's too much of a control freak and phil's too private to just let it happen.

What is this hypothetical second video? I’ve seen it mentioned a few times but I can’t find any info because EVERYTHING is so focused on the v-day video.
The lies I were referring to are about their relationship. If you re-watch you’ll assume that Dan and Phil met when Dan was at UoM, became acquaintances and then moved in when Dan moved out of halls because it was more convenient. When in reality, they met months before Dan started uni, and Dan spent a LOT of time at Phil's during his year at UoM. I know what halls Dan was in, he was within reasonable walking distance of where Phil lived, and Oxford Road is the busiest bus route in Europe. You can’t write off the amount of time Dan spent with Phil during that year because it was always practical for Dan to go back to his halls. It makes me sad to see that they did that.saffarinda wrote: I thought about the v-day vid, but then I was thinking with their recent jokes of just pretending it didn't occur... it seems like something they could do (if they were comfortable with it being out on the internet).

I do think Dan and Phil would come out non-dramatically, relying heavily on innuendo. I can’t see either of them making a video dedicated to it; they’re more subtle than that. However, I can’t see them not wanting complete control over it.

I can't see them being the sort of people to kiss in public.saffarinda wrote: Honestly though, I can't see them being the sort of people to post a coming out video, or a "We're together!" video.
"If you're left-handed, ask a friend."
"Why am I left-handed?"
"Everybody makes mistakes."

Yep, also this. Especially not at a Youtube event where everyone and their mother is vlogging.LeftHandedism wrote:

You can read about it here: http://indepthbants.com/topic575.htmlsparkle wrote:I think there are things that everyone of YT keeps private and their peers respect. Look at Emma and Luke, I genuinely did NOT expect them to be together and then boom, they had been dating for years?! And there were photos of them kissing. YouTube has its secrets, and everyone is a secret keeper.queerofcups wrote:i think this is such an interesting thought experiment. i definitely can't see them just letting something stay in someone elses video. i don't think they'll ever tell us but i do think on the off-chance that they do, it'll be them telling us, i think dan's too much of a control freak and phil's too private to just let it happen.
What is this hypothetical second video? I’ve seen it mentioned a few times but I can’t find any info because EVERYTHING is so focused on the v-day video.
