Somehow I liked this liveshow even more than the last one, and I also must agree with saffarinda in that Phil's recent liveshows have been more enjoyable than Dan's ones. Phil has been exceptionally cheerful in them and the anecdotes have been pretty funny.
I really liked the tiger paintings. They were weird but pretty.

that was a very good liveshow! I've been watching some of Phil's old deleted videos today and I got a somewhat similar vibe from this ls, don't know why, especially when he was doing "beauty tips" (can this be his new thing? also, more AoT talk, I know there are people who don't care, but these characters are my whole life that isn't work right now). Pretty funny, too. As I usually watch in on youtube, I never know what the younow chat is about, I wonder if he's been ignoring some topics. I noticed Phil didn't mention tinder or spon at all while talking about his last video. also, interesting how he didn't refer to the bed he was sitting on while talking about the centipede crawling under his bed (sorry)
another thing that's been hovering at the back of my mind: didn't Phil say he got Dan a fidget spinner and a couple of other things, but we've only seen one?

Dan wants to be understood. Phil just wants to make the viewer smile and sell some backpacks (c) fancybum

Dan showed us another gift from Phil in his ls. It was some kind of glass bottle(?) filled with cristals or something that change colour depending on the weather.coffeepenguin wrote:another thing that's been hovering at the back of my mind: didn't Phil say he got Dan a fidget spinner and a couple of other things, but we've only seen one?
If we are being all , I just want to say that I found it a bit suspicious that Dan apparently came into Phil's room after hearing Phil freak out about the centipede in the middle of the night even though his room is upstairs and Phil's is downstairs. Of course it's possible that he was not in his room at that moment or that his room is withing hearing distance, but still...coffeepenguin wrote:also, interesting how he didn't refer to the bed he was sitting on while talking about the centipede crawling under his bed (sorry)

No, I mean other than that, but it's my bad, I just checked his previous ls, he said "I got him a couple of trinkets" and then told one of the things was something he wanted for himself (the fidget spinner), I don't know why I took it as meaning that Phil got Dan more than two presentssomethingsketchy wrote:Dan showed us another gift from Phil in his ls. I think it's safe to assume that Phil did get Dan more presents than the two he showed us, but I also think we won't see those presents.coffeepenguin wrote:No, I mean other than that, but it's my bad, I just checked his previous ls, he said "I got him a couple of trinkets" and then told one of the things was something he wanted for himself (the fidget spinner), I don't know why I took it as meaning that Phil got Dan more than two presentssomethingsketchy wrote:Dan showed us another gift from Phil in his ls. The liveshow was good, again he surprised me by leaving at 40 minutes instead of 45, I don't mind the shorter time (actually I do a little, Phil you were my first phan-love, stop skimping out on us), but I keep expecting that last five minutes and instead he's suddenly off. Loved him in his Steven Universe tshirt. If I hadn't already drawn Steven Universe, I might draw him in it. Might do it anyway, I'm both itching to do more digital painting and daunted by how shaky I am drawing with the tablet.
He made me laugh a few times and now I've forgotten what he said. Bit surprised he keeps giving in to peer pressure with things like the beauty tips, but those were hilarious. Yoga poses was one that made me laugh. I'd totally have believed there's a pose called Total Eclipse but Bat was just hilarious. He is the cheekiest cute munchkin
It's cute how he talks about his name. One of my grandfathers was a Phil, but I've never loved the name. There were a ton of Daniels at school so I got really put off that name, but Dan (and Mr Layton too) has made me love it. It's still too popular a name to use, though I like the sound of Danny. I was touched when he sang happy birthday to the person called rayray too (I had a close Ray).
Interesting note about his bed frame being metal and reflecting the colour of his bedspread. I was surprised he'd seen comments about that. I know it was mentioned here. I asked if the bed was more comfortable, but he didn't see it. I forget now which question he did answer, but I watched his collab with Hazel, the tipsy talk one, and he was effusive in loving his comfortable bed in that video. He did specifically mention the foam mattress, though. Slats falling off underneath it don't help. It was just such a difference to "I hate it, it's awful" in the leaving-apartment video.
There were some way cuter names for the dog in the chat. Cookie, Bubbles, I forget the rest, though I think I spotted "Phan". Yikes.
His Chris Pine radiating beauty comment I'd turn back to him, he does that so much himself.
Don't worry, coffeepenguin, I thought that meant he bought Dan a few things too.
Love the muffin in the eye comment, Stakhanov, though I loved that anecdote.

I'm sorry I don't have anything deep or insightful to say about Dan's video (though I do agree with what's been said here already) but was anyone else dying of laughter when Phil was dancing/swaying to the beauty guru music Maybe I'm just overtired, but actual tears were leaking out as I was watching that bit lol Also when Phil said that his face "currently smells of tree sap" I love Phil
As a few others have said before, recently I've been enjoying Phil's ls more than Dan's. In general, this seems to be the case for me as I think in terms of personality/outlook I'm much more similar to Dan, but I always seem to attract and befriend people a lot like Phil. So maybe there's something to that idk if anyone else feels the same way

I haven't had a chance to properly watch the livestream, but sign me the fuck up for Phil talking about how attractive Chris Pine is with the same level of intensity that Dan did.
i missed the ls but from what everyone has been saying i really look forward to listening to it. coffeepenguin, i thought there were more than two presents too. for some reason it pleases me to think that we won't get to see them. go get that selective privacy, lads. is that weird? cringemonkey, i feel somewhat similar to you about ls. i watch dan's more regularly because i tend to find them more interesting and i like hearing his thoughts, but from time, a ls will feel tense to me for no particular reason, dan just stresses me out sometimes similar to how i stress myself out. phil's in contrast are always relaxing to me and therefore, on average more enjoyable i guess.
i'm 100% here for them waxing poetic like this too although i don't understand it at all and i've never before heard anyone swoon over him before but you do you guysalittledizzy wrote:I haven't had a chance to properly watch the livestream, but sign me the fuck up for Phil talking about how attractive Chris Pine is with the same level of intensity that Dan did.

I'm the same! Well, not with attracting people like Phil (I wish lmao) but I'm more similar to Dan, which may be what makes me love Phil. I adore his perspective of the world, and find his personality so intriguing. Also love the fact that he's somewhat humble about his own knowledge regarding the world - I'm similar to Dan in the sense that I hate admiting that I'm wrong when it's something I'm passionate about. Quite similar with regards to the philosophy and procrastination (I revised for all of my exams the night before, and for Chemistry I revised for an hour and a half on the morning of my 9am exam... yep).cringemonkey wrote:I'm sorry I don't have anything deep or insightful to say about Dan's video (though I do agree with what's been said here already) but was anyone else dying of laughter when Phil was dancing/swaying to the beauty guru music Maybe I'm just overtired, but actual tears were leaking out as I was watching that bit lol Also when Phil said that his face "currently smells of tree sap" I love Phil

I think there's a lot more to Phil than we think, he's not the most perfect creature on the planet, he has negative personality traits, and he's done/said things that could be considered wrong in the past - but some features just shine out and make him seem like such a lovely person, I really appreciate him.
Plus the way he expresses thoughts in comparison to Dan, like a topic on gender inequality will often be a beautiful discussion with Dan talking about how it's wrong and needs to be changed, or expressing joy when something is changed.I feel like Phil is more subtle or reacts with incredulity at any odd gender inequalities or roles, like how he mentioned before that he doesn't understand why womens deodorant is more expensive than mens because it smells slightly better (and said he was comfortable enough with himself that he would sometimes use the womens), the gendered moisturiser, today in the liveshow just casually expressing love for female main characters. It's just the little comments that mean a lot to me. Also "Phil's beauty tips" is a great way of encouraging the fact that grooming isn't feminine (moisturising and facial wash mentions) as a good portion of our society likes to believe.
(I adore Dan too but Dan gets a lot of appreciation, so I'm gonna let my Phil stan come out )

Also, did anyone else notice he said he was getting a glass from the kitchen and then said 'when I came back down'.. So the kitchen is upstairs? Or have I remembered something wrong..

Good point on Phil being more subtle, straightforward and comfortable about saying things like that. I'm also someone who's similar to Dan in a few ways and I've often thought we might annoy each other while I'd get on with Phil. Meeting them at Playlist, Phil seemed way easier to talk to, he's just more relaxed and open like that. I can be, or I can be quiet and awkward, and it depends what the other person is like.
I loved Phil's dancing too, he is great for being a (possibly the only) guy I know of who will say he can't dance, but still dance anyway. I love his hands too, he's always doing that diving motion and they're quite delicate and pretty.
It would always be great to hear more of what he has to say.

I completely forgot that there was a Phil ls today! Good surprise since it was a pleasant lil' chat and I enjoyed it a lot. Things that stood out to me, in vaguely timed order:
1) Discussion about the painting in his bedroom, both about how he wants to rearrange them and how he and Dan are the only people to like the cat paintings. They're really creepy-looking to me, but I'm a sucker for either of them mentioning how they're in-sync about quirky stuff.
1b) That corner of the room is rounded??? It blew my mind for some reason 'cause it's. It's a corner, ya know? I don't know why I'm so fixated on it.
1c) The dresser/bedside table came with the apartment. No wonder it didn't match his bed.
1d) He wants to make the dresser even more bare 'cause he thinks it's cluttered. What a change in aesthetics, Philly.
2) The centipede story is great, really reminds me of the praying mantis vid with Dan just off to the side and being the biggest wuss but still making fun of Phil.
3) The strong insistence of Phil being a good name. I agree!
4) The one-sentence mention of Dan's video. It made you chuckle, huh?
5) How he stole the fidget spinner. It worked out well for him indeed.
6) I'm very happy he likes WW! "More movies should be made with a woman as a main character like that." His love for Chris Pine's face is so great aaaah
7) Phil the beauty guru is a thing now apparently? I'm into it.
Overall cheeful and enjoyable, I quite love it.

I agree with you that Phil is just so interesting and intriguing to me as well and it's important to remember that he has his flaws too. While ofc I love Dan too, sometimes I feel like I understand or "get" him more I guess? Whereas Phil's outlook and personality is so different from mine that I'm always super curious about how he feels about a certain issue or just in general what he has to say. I too am now unabashedly letting my Phil stan come outsaffarinda wrote:I'm the same! This too ! I usually find it pretty easy to be annoyed with someone too similar to me I guess and I feel like that would happen between me and Dan but I could totally get on with Phil.flarequake wrote:I'm also someone who's similar to Dan in a few ways and I've often thought we might annoy each other while I'd get on with Phil. About meeting them: Never personally met them, but Phil can relax much more infront of fans (or at least appear more relaxed) whilst Dan remains tense, as he often does when he knows he's being watched or judged. I think I may have noticed that Phil is better at interacting with fans in comparsion to Dan, but Dan is better at interacting with strangers - I don't mean the typical taxi driver or something. Just that Phil's expressed awkwardness regarding neighboughs, going to the doctors over "silly" problems, any situation that's going wrong he seems to automatically feel in control of, and therefore feels uncomfortable when anything's going wrong for other people, perhaps over empathising with others?
I think Phil conceals a lot of the more neutral or negative aspects of his personality for the camera (stuff such as angry Phil, for example) whilst Dan's an oversharer with regards to personality (same oops). Phil's v good at creating the perfect balance that isn't in-genuine, but also keeps his private personality, life, and thoughts well concealed - at least, the most important parts.

Good liveshow. In the bedroom. Because it's the coolest room in the apartment. That's fine. I'm fine. Tiny not quite room tour. Yes, please get a different dresser/set of drawers! White or grey or maybe a color! Also part of what is not working for that surface is the scale of the plant. It's too big. Move it to another room! (Dan, if you're lurking please tell him).
Lots of good stories. Centipede under the bed. Fidget spinner on face. Family tree on hands. More beauty tips with Phil. (People do actually put tea bags over their eyes, but usually green or white tea. Be careful with herbal. Make sure it's not spiced. Pro-tip.) I'm tired.
I'm also more of a Dan personality that loves Phil's personality.

- Phil's liveshows? More like reason-I-live-shows.

- I am a Phil-type personality who enjoys Phil's style more. I gravitated more towards his individual content ever since I first started watching them (even though I think I saw a dinof video first?) for a number of reasons, but of course I adore them both and still thoroughly enjoy Dan's content as well, since it's not like I have to choose.
