I woke up with anitipcation to see how Dan's birthday would unfold...and I was busy all day and forgot now until 14 hours later when I incidentally checked IDB oops

Still, Dan I hope Phil got himself you a dog.

It was wonderful seeing the artwork and posts people have made. It reminds me of what I love about the phandom, how people come to celebrate things together.
Now, kinda off topic:

Not to be a downer/negative or anything, but seeing as he's getting older, I wonder at what age will Dan stop being a teenage heart throb? He's still a handsome man, granted, but I wonder when he'll lose the boyish charm that attracts quite young fans? There's a certain line between good looking that attracts certain age group, and he seems to be in the middle of that. Arguably, Phil still has this and he's 30, so maybe we'll just have to wait and see how this develops. I have a lot of time, I'll do a timer and wait ten years and post back here with my thoughts.

He's so damn attractive. He looks so happy - I'm genuinely glad he's having a good birthday. He deserves it, he seems to be very content currently and it's nice on him.

Side note - they have seriously good taste in locations for drinks, I'd absolutely LOVE to go somewhere like that, especially on a summery day.

[offtopic]It's been a few pages ago, but I just wanted to say that, even if I kinda brought up the topic, it was never my intention to claim that Dan threats Phil bad, that they have an unhealthy relationship or that Phil can't stand up for himself! I'm pretty sure that if they're friends (or whatever they are, let's just say, close to each other) for such a long time and still giving away that vibe of happiness and comfort, everything is pretty much fine and they've found their more or less perfect way of interaction.
It was just me who was annoyed by Dan in the bread-video, and it was, tbh, ONLY this video of all the recent ones. I didn't mean to speak about the videos before, but it got interpreted that way somehow. I usually enjoy the gaming channel videos a lot, especially in the last months!

I find that this discussion is presented and dismissed fairly frequently as just their dynamic as a duo and not to be taken seriously. That's true, but it's missing the point. The point is, a dominant person in a conversation (that at times is too loud or annoying) may become increasingly harder to watch. I find Dan to be this sometimes due to his nature and persona. I am perfectly aware that this is just their behaviour in front of the camera, but that doesn't mean it's easy to watch. I'd like to personally see some more even behaviour and them being less reliant on the kind of butt-monkey way of treating Phil. Sometimes its just nice to see a more even dynamic, from an entertainment perspective.

I'm quite late, but I hope Dan had a beautiful birthday and I wish him a great year as a 26-year-old! He might sometimes annoy the fck out of me, but on the other hand there are so many times that I felt sad and watching his videos made me smile again. I completey agree with rizzo's statement, "he is a good soul". I love that he actually cares for his audience and that he always tries to get us onto the right track in his own lovely sarcastic way.

She used to be paperlilies and was a very well known YouTuber about 10 years ago. She got sick of YouTube and went to work for the BBC. Idk if she still does? She's been friends with Phil forever and with Dan since shortly after he and Phil met. She and her BF Wirrow hang out with Deppy all the time. She is NOT a big fan of the Phandom.

Dan can't quite grow facial hair yet, so it's a valid complaint considering how he has to see phil in a constant state of adorable stubble. but dan, your face is perfect just the way it is, puberty is a jerk anyway who needs them?

Well, for once the phandom can be quite annoying tbh, you know, the usual thing, spamming comments, doesn't know boundaries etc. And from what I've read over the years, she doesn't like real life shipping.

I must admit I love seeing him and Phil embrace the beauty of cherry blossom blooms, in tattoo meanings cherry blossoms symbolise the beauty and fragility of life because they are strong yet fragile and they bloom for such a short period of time. I think it sums up his perspective on life whether he knows it or not. A very appropriate (and lovely) shirt to wear on his birthday.

I love it when Dan calls Phil a cunt. I know people got in a tizzy the first time it happened, I cackled. Because it felt so real, like something that happens irl all the time, that's a little more risqué than they usually leave in videos, that slipped and they decided to leave it in. I think the idea that Phil needs to be ~protected from Dan, his best friend of nearly a decade is infantilizing Phil and his ability to set boundaries and unnecessarily harsh on Dan.
Especially when we've seen him tell Dan to shut up, and occasionally physically make him stop talking.

Also what is that video where he calls him a cunt for the first time :') I need to see this.

In "some bloopers from phil is not on fire 4" on danisnotinteresting, Sep 13, 2012, Dan doesn't call Phil a cunt, but he says it several times (bleeped) until Phil claps a hand over his mouth.

I love this video, despite a few jarring 2012 notes. No doubt in large part because of young Dan in a Kristen Stewart wig.

I'm really late but happy birthday Dan Howell if you are reading this. Little shitty personal rant under the spoiler.

Dan and Phil have really helped me this past year. It's really weird how much can change in a year. This past year has been the worst year of my life. I started to get sick and whenever I would have one illness under control another would pop up. It was like a fucked up game of medical wac a mole. But D and P videos really helped me. Sometimes my phone would buzz during a doctors appointment and I would have a new video to watch on my way home. During gamingmas there would be a new video waiting for me when I got home. Those videos helped me forget about my problems. My health is still a roller coaster, but I seem to be doing a bit better. It's up and down. but my walking has been getting better (I still need a cane but at least I'm not falling forty times a day).

I just want to say thank you to Dan and Phil for making videos that help me forget about my problems. I also would like to thank the phandom for being nice people, especially here on idb. Actually because of the great people I can forgive all the protip and don't cry craft spammers.
