Save me Daddy! timestamps

:18 - No weird kink roleplaying... yet. (This is the kind of comment that I think would have felt much, more more jarring in... well, to use their favorite phrase, the pre-baking-video universe.)
:55 - "This is gonna teach us how to be real parents."
1:26 - "Your ass is where you feel all of the most important emotions."
1:32 - Philly
2:52 - P: "Did you mate with a female kangaroo?"
4:22 - "This is the biggest garden ever. How much did they pay for this house?" Phil sees a feature of a house he likes and his mind immediately goes to pricing it. Hm, been house hunting lately?
7:00 - "A strange rubber object." Both of them react with humor and basically nothing else to seeing a dildo in the dad's nightstand drawer.
8:20 - "I'm a rich baby. You adopted me from a millionaire oil barron." Skewing the line away from heteronormativity again. Zero mention of where the baby's mother might be (aside from the female kangaroo reference) and backstory of adoption.
9:04 - "Cancel fighting for a second, I want to solve the mystery." I feel like this is how they play most competitive games, calling truces frequently for the sake of figuring things out.
10:20 - Emotionally manipulative Mrs. Lester. :( :( (kidding. KIDDING.)
11:23 - The rubber object is healthy and nutricious.
12:00 - Phil wants to watch Dan play with a pool noodle.
13:35 - "Lets never be parents."
13:52 - "In hindsight, are we good parents?" "I think no. Definitely not. I think we're both terrible." "Could you trust either of us around an unattended baby? Noooo." "I'm surprised that Dil or Dab have surprised our parenting."
14:30 - "Let us know in the comments if you want to see more father-son simulators, if that's the weird kind of phan roleplay you're into."

This was very funny especially thanks to their aggression in trying to win no matter who they were playing, and they both look great. Good video :thumb:

I loved this video and laughed aloud almost throughout the whole thing. It was hilarious hearing them repeatedly call each other 'baby/child' or 'dad/daddy' to stay in character (especially Phil, Dan has never really held himself back :D)

Kudos to your prompt timestamps yet again
It warms my heart to see them make no attempts in justifying what 'we' or 'us' means anymore. I agree with the liking babies =/= wanting babies convo, I certainly feel the same way. But dogs, babies and moving being even a part of the discussion they share with us is a huge step away from a no-homo direction so
1:26 - "Your ass is where you feel all of the most important emotions."
This followed by Philly's straight faced 'Yesss' made me

Dan's tweet about the upcoming dinof also makes me excited, so glad for all the consistent and happy content so far this year

Edit: I wanted to add one of my bigger concerns I have when watching them, I think Phil is going to go deaf at a very early age as a result of the screaming mess he is perpetually in close quarters to.

I'm sick and procrastinating doing actual work so here's timestamps and actual notes
Notes:
-Dan’s Northern inflections in his accent at points.
-The fact he seems to have abandoned his straighteners, we don’t talk about his wavy hair anymore, it's just looking kind of wavy.
-I said it once, and I said it again, the statements of "let's not have kids" kind of contrasted with their doe-eyed, fluffy behavior with each other.
Time Stamps:
:33 Dan: "The object of the baby is to die. Um, Same, Right?"
Phil: I know
Curious that Phil is now hopping on the “I hate life” train, at least he isn’t going in the opposite direction of forcing positivity, just rolling with it.
:40 Dan: “They stick forks in stuff, they eat batteries, they fall into swimming pools…”
While I did not doubt that they watched someone else play the game to get the idea of what it is like, it feels weird knowing that a lot of their “surprised” reactions to certain situations are not genuine.
:46 "you’ve got to keep your eyes on them"
Dan is sounding increasingly Northern, particularly in DAPG
1:26 Dan: “Your ass is where you feel all the most important emotions”
1:48 Is this a mistake with the screens? Mistake in editing? While it does sort of driving the point home, it feels weird and out of place.
3:15 SKEE SKEE SKEE SKEE SKEE
3:35 “the diversity piano” that wouldn’t gotten a bigger reaction a year ago
4:30 I love evil Phil, the evil look on his face while Dan is distracted by the interior design, “What is this beautiful blue liquid?”
*Dan screaming*

5:42 Dan: “Drink Window Cleaner….YASSSSSSS”
7:10 A strange rubber object. Dan: “Can we put that on YouTube?”
8:41 "SIMBAAAAAAAA!"
11.29 Dan killing himself with a rubber dildo, fantastic.
12:56 Phil: "I’m eating the poop."
Dan: *SCREAMS* Oh my God, you ate the shit?
Phil, making a little "Yep."

I really am not trying to stir the pot, but how are you not able to reconcile the fact that two people who act doe eyed and fluffy towards one another may also not want children? Is it because of their past statements? Because certainly the idea of children may sound like some romantic future goal, but age and wisdom (with a healthy dose of logic and rationality, lbr) may understandably guide you in a different direction. Perhaps they have been discussing the idea a lot lately, and have both come to a similar conclusion. Or not. Really, who knows with them. It's all speciation. I guess I'm just trying to figure out your reasoning. Also, your ts were ace

phil has never been outright about it (that i know of) but I sort of made an assumption in the case of "phan iz reel" dont kill me that they might have similar interests, and as everybody sort of has the idea that, while having children is not a necessary part of life, it may be in their future interests together (disclaimer, disclaimer, etc, etc)

I feel like they talk about kids EXACTLY the same way they talk about dogs. They want them and think they're cute but logically it's not the time. I don't think the "we can't be trusted with *insert species*" comments are significant tbh. I sometimes make jokes about me not being trustworthy to care for a child for comedic effect but in reality I'm very good with kids. It always freaks my friends out how secretly nurturing I am lmao. it doesn't mean they won't eventually get a dog and/or kids, and either way it doesn't matter because to me it sounds like whatever they're doing, they're doing together.
spoiler because it doesn't matter but I totally agree with people saying you can love kids but not want them. I kind of feel this because I love kids and I'm great with them, but in a friend way, I don't think I could ever be a parent, you know? I have trouble disciplining because I want kids to like me. It's probably different if it's your kid, but acting like a mom freaks me out for some reason? Ehh I'm young.

While I totally agree with the fact that liking kids =/= wanting kids, and that a couple doesn't need kids to be "the next level of coupleness" or whatever, I don't think that's the case for Dan and Phil. As someone pointed out above, Dan has stated in the past that he wants children. I don't think Phil has ever explicitly said anything but I'm pretty sure he's mentioned wanting a family before, and from the way he talked about it I assumed that "family" meant "a partner and kids" (not like, a partner and dogs). Maybe I making that up but I feel like that was a thing that happened. (And also there's the whole thing with Phil joking about not being able to have kids because of having his laptop on his crotch. It may be just me, but I feel like someone who doesn't want kids in the first place wouldn't joke about that in the way he does*.) Regardless, I'm not sure why some people are taking the "let's never have kids" comments seriously. Dan and Phil (but especially Phil) have both joked about not being able to take care of a dog. But we take those as jokes because it seems like they both actually want a dog. And to me, this is kind of the same thing. Just because they made a couple jokes at the expense of the game doesn't mean what they're saying is necessarily true.

*what I mean by that is that I feel like someone who doesn't want kids would joke about it in more of a "I won't be able to have kids because I have my laptop on my crotch so much. Good thing/I suppose it doesn't matter because I don't want kids in the first place, haha" way. Where's Phil just jokes about not being able to have kids without any mention of not wanting them.

Just to add my little contribution, but you can find little kids cute and adorable and still not wanting to actually raise one (who is eventually going to grow anyway, they're not toddlers forever and you take this in consideration as well when you decide to become a parent; you can find babies cute but if you hate teenagers, being a parent may require some consideration).
Plus, I kind of feel that with his "Existential Crisis™" attitude, Dan would fall to pieces, realising he is responsible of an actual independent human life. But this is all supposition.
Anyway, in the video, it felt like they had discussed the issue before and that Phil was checking that they were still on the same page. I do that with friends when a previously discussed subject comes up in the conversation :D

Ok, so are people who won't even confirm a relationship, so why would they confirm plans to have children? I wouldn't take anything they say about children seriously unless and until they make it obvious they are in a committed longterm relationship. (They could suddenly produce a child as a surprise, but that seems extremely unlikely especially given how unlikely either of them is to be involved in an unplanned pregnancy.)

In general, even people who are married and "want children" are cagey about saying "Yes, we will have children!" until the first child is actually on the horizon. Nobody can actually guarantee they will have children: a process involving conception/pregnancy may or may not work out; an adoption may or may not fall through. A couple may only want children if they can get them through certain methods, but not through others. So it all comes down to a pretty personal business, about which people may dissemble a lot until they actually have the child in their arms.

Wait the live show when Dan said they were going to focus on life things for 2017... he said they both put up videos on their main channels, they would put up some gaming videos, and "THEN they were going to focus on some life things" Does that mean Dan was probably partially talking about Phil's birthday plans??? Idk why because this is pretty obvious but I had this realization while looking at the gif set of Dan talking about the life things and now I'm even more trash oh no.

+1 to all of this, but especially the part in bold!! I really don't get why so many people are taking what they said so so seriously.

Why would he all of a sudden change his opinion though? The shelter videos were fairly recent and based on a couple other things he's said I think he probably wanted kids before that. So why would his opinion have changed now?

Thanks guys for the birthday wishes!! :platonic:

As for the video, I have three comments. (Well, more than three, but these are the three things I feel compelled to say something about):

1) Phil was so delighted with his own instincts for troublemaking lol. Hilarious.
2) Dan's voice when he said hello to the kitty!! Cutest thing ever!
3) Phil: "Stop calling yourself 'Daddy'; it's really disturbing."

Edit: I have a fourth comment too:

4) Dan's hair. Thank you.

Also: So many good shots of Dan's nose! Happy birthday to me!

Both of their faces look a lot rounder in the latest gaming video, Phil's gym membership might come in handy. :D
I'm surprised they left "strange rubber object" in the video, but the bants were meh. just reacted without making a lot of effort to be entertaining, the entire video depended on the game (this time it was disturbing enough and prompted enough funny sentences to not end up completely boring). Dan's curly hair looks nice , but I dislike the (2015) outfit.
(I sound like a hater, I don't mean to.)

This!

Why would he all of a sudden change his opinion though? The shelter videos were fairly recent and based on a couple other things he's said I think he probably wanted kids before that. So why would his opinion have changed now?
Happens. A lot. Something in life that makes you realise you can't have children and don't want to get them through other methods. Realising you don't want to commit to a child even though you find them cute. Actually being friends with a parent and realising how horrible having a child must be. Finding out you have a terminal illness (Well, hope it's not that one :wtf: ). Etc.

I used to think I'd have two kids and be a teacher one day and in the course of a year I changed my opinion completely. I realised I can't stand kids and just wanted them because it was expected of me. The thought of having to care for another human or being pregnant gives me anxiety. I realised I want my freedom. So, yeah, possible But who knows, as LeftHandedism mentioned, I wouldn't take their comments too seriously.
