I would recommend basicallymonsters if you're looking for angst (and some fluff).

Another fave fluff writer: phanetixs. All their fics are a combination of pure fluff, hilarity and amazing puns

Amazing!! I wasn't that into the original story but I love this sequel. It's so cute and I agree characterization is spot on.

looking like a morning star by queerofcups - Phil is perceptive. Dan has nail polish, a choker and no timeline. It's all fine though. This is Phil perspective and done so damn well it's actually delicious.

feral: an interlude by snsk - Part of nad's puppy play kink series and also actual perfection.

A Night Reimagined - phan au where Phil goes to school in London and meets Dan the night Dan's girlfriend breaks up to him. It's 11.5k and probably the best phan au I've read in a really long time. I can't rec this one highly enough.

Looking Back by itislacey - Dan and Phil are in their 80s. I'm not sure I've ever read old person phan that wasn't just a tack on to a fic. It does have quite a lot of flashback scenes, which generally I'm not crazy about (just as a personal preference) but I like how the aged up scenes are set so much that I'm definitely reccing it anyway.

Currently reading and quite liking Bluebird by Ivckyphan. It's an AU and technically a WIP but apparently it's all finished and the author is posting a chapter a day. I'm a bit worried about the archive warnings though

Ohmygods. I can't believe I forgot to rec that! I mean, I haven't watched "The Bachelorette", but... damn. That's one good fic. It's 80+K words, but it's definitely worth it!

I have never cried at a fanfic before, but I've been sobbing for the last two hours. This broke me, it's so beautifully written and I was so into it I read it all in one go. I cried several times throughout the book but the end was heartbreaking. This is almost all angst, so if you like that than you should read it. If you don't, I advice you to stay far away from this book. This fic is amazing and so cruel.

Not sure if this has been recced before as a WIP, but it's complete now so I finally read it and it's so damn good.

There You Were (Inside My Brain) by parentaladvisorybullshitcontent - almost 50k, lots of communication mishap angst - but the romcom variety, not serious angst - and definitely a very happy ending. Good writing, good characterization, and I appreciate how Dan and his attitude toward university is treated. That felt very realistic within the au situation.
