I kind of wonder if that was perhaps filmed in the last few days after they received all the criticism for spending the sonic making fun of it rather than pretending to be spooked because their reactions to this one felt way over the top to me for a game that to me did not seem remotely scary. Maybe not maybe they just genuinely found that really spooky for some unknown reason.

I personally preferred the sonic game. That just felt OTT. Definitely the worst of spooky week for me. Still 5 videos in a week I'm not complaining.

I agree, I wasn't even able to finish the video because of the overreacting. I much more prefer when they made fun of the games and stayed true to their sarcastic selves (especially Dan) then watch this fake overreactions. The first time Dan clutched his onesie I was out, it wasn't even remotely scary. The more Dan says he is scared the less scared he actually is, imo.

I decided to leave until the last video to make a comment about Spooky Week because I couldn’t find anything interesting to say about the first two videos, so here are my thoughts...
1- FNAF: meh but I laughed at angsty teen.
2- Sonic 2.exe: besides Dan not being interested at all in the game, I found their interactions cute.
3- Outlast 2: game-wise it was the best one of the week and made me a little terrified, but not even close to how the first one made me feel. Also wanted to give poor Phil a hug, he was definitely shaken up.
4- Timore Inferno: the masks were the scariest part here but the game was weird too, all the bad quality graphics made it spooky.
5- SpongeBob Slenderpants: wtf? I have no words for this, just what the fuck D&P???

All in all, it wasn’t their best Spooky Week, but I’m not complaining about getting 5 videos in 5 days. Hope they saved something good for tomorrow (they are posting something tomorrow, right? Or am I going crazy thinking there will be a not gaming channel Halloween video too?).

With Spooky Week over so I thought I’d review it. Unwanted/asked for I know, but here it is anyway.

FNAFSL: Was ok. It wasn’t long enough really to get into the game. Dan was just not getting into it. Made me want to see more of the game. (So went to watch Mark play, good suggest it to anyone who liked the FNAF series and hasn't already watched his version.)Have rewatched it a couple times, but won't rewatch a lot, unlike FNAF 1 which is one of my faves and one of the reasons I love these two idiots.

Sonic: Hated it. I didn’t like the mood they were in, the game….I was never a fan of the original game but it was 10 times more entertaining than this. I will not rewatch and for me is pretty bad, because I rewatch videos a lot. After this one I was wondering if I was loosing my deppy attachment. Pure disappointment.

Outlast: Liked it since I liked the game. The bants were pretty good too. It was not as good as PT which really is a great one, as well as the first Outlast. Genuinely creepy, and yes there are places that are creepy af like that here in the US.

Timore: I liked this one too, even though the story is really...lost and doesn’t go with the game (but who cares about details when bants can be had?). The low-fi and the unknown part about it made it all the more creepy. The bants were great and their attitudes (Dan’s lbr) were good. It made me laugh and also made me jump (only once but that’s ok). Most horrifying part was the masks at the beginning of it, but really set the tone for the rest of the video, creepy and funny all at the same time. (Also Phil’s initial reaction to Dan’s tongue poking out of the eye hole: Priceless) Will, and have rewatch(ed) it multiple times.

Spongebob: Very pleasantly surprised. Saw the game and almost didn’t watch. I was a little irritated tbh. But low and behold, my favorite one this week. The bants were good, the reactions were pretty entertaining (surprisingly genuine for the most part), the onesies were great, the little peep show wasn’t bad(thx Daniel ), the decoration reveal was good, the game was not bad either and made me laugh a lot. So all in all the one I will rewatch the most out of the week.

4.75 out of 5 (Couldn’t give a stupid spongebob video 5 out of 5, goes against my moral compass.)

Glad the week improved as it went on, or my stanning days may have been over. Seriously had my doubts when sonic showed up again. I am excited for next month however so I guess I would have been back before too long. Undertale, festive baking , PINOF….ugh these two idiots are up to some kind of witchcraft or something…I can’t leave the black hole that is the deppyverse no matter how hard I try. SMH.

Honestly who found that scary ? i was grinning at the entire duration of the video at least it was Better than the sonic video. Dan was acting scared and not being a sarcastic twat, the slender mechanics are good but. really ? sponge bob? sponge bob? theirs a lot of games they could have played why ? a flash game would have been scarier. ( they could churn up just them sitting in a room looking at the camera for 25 minutes and id still watch it)

kinda OT: phil says at around 28:00 in the liveshow that 'the dog below' was bothered by the fireworks or something like that. Was he reffering to his downstairs neighbor? if so is it possible that their downstairs neighbor has a different landlord then they do?

there are so many good horror games out there but they choose to play this, at this point i wouldn't be surprised if they literally played board games wearing halloween costumes and put it up on the gaming channel as spooky week content

random phil ls thought: do other people buy movies on bluray without having seen them first? this is so weird to me because then you would potentially own a movie you didn’t enjoy. also this doesn’t help their overflowing dvd collection and space problem they seem to be having.

And now…the startling conclusion to…spooky week

…what? Umm, OK. So when I saw what it was I was like ‘???’ but once that eerie version of the theme kicked in I was sold. I also just happened to be watching Slender earlier today so its whole setup was very fresh in my mind. Here are my favorite memories:
- Onesies. Of course. I suppose these are their Halloween costumes this year, perfect for getting cozy at home and watching horror movies all night
- That “wee whoo” noise slenderpants made whenever he appeared along with the screaming and laughter wtf hilarious
- “Oh shit did he just fly into us?!”
- Phil (leans into Dan): It’s fonding you from behind. I’m just gonna leave that one here.
- Bleeped out Dan
- I actually cheered for Dan when he beat the game. Nice to end on a high note
- Them sitting there in their little onesies with the hoods up and showing us the full decorations, they are so cute and couple-y there
- “Don’t dream of sponges” Last night I actually dreamed that deppy revealed that they both had a bunch of tattoos on their chest, back, and upper arms (that they usually cover up with t-shirts). Ngl, it was kinda working for 'em

Overall, I enjoyed it about as much at Outlast but for different reasons. This one was the perfect, manageable length for a spooky vid (a bit short if anything) and it was satisfying to see them complete it.

He was so cute today I don’t know what it was. Just very cheery and excited, especially with the DAPGO release coming up. Maybe that firs ep. of Black Mirror inspired him to put his honest opinion about the Walking Dead out there. I don’t watch it but from what I’ve heard it sounds horrifyingly excessive. I really enjoyed the little drawing game throwback (it’s just more fun live) and finally seeing his new glasses

Spooky Week has been a disappointment for me. Outlast was really the only spooky scary thing they played. Everything else was boring or just bad, with Sonic.exe 3 and this Spongebob fuckery being what you get when shitposts become games. And damnit I usually don't care about the games because I watch for them being cute, but they (mostly Dan) give such a fucking attitude during the videos that made me want to bite their heads off. You do not have to play this, pick an actually interesting game then.

So. This video. Their original Slender video was scary af, this was not. Why? Because it's fucking Spongebob that's why. Why would I take that seriously enough to be scared of it? Dan was doing the most as usual, I can't believe he was actually scared of anything in that game. Phil controlled a game again so that was nice (too bad Dan kept dissing his skills). Someone posted during the Sonic discussion that Dan becomes more annoying when Phil is playing because he's bored and I'm starting to believe that as well. Except this time he ditched the attitude and just gave us OTT reactions. And while I disliked the attitude, them dragging the game they were playing was actually entertaining while this.. not so much. And Dan didn't show quite enough skin to save it.

Spooky Week: 2/5 pumpkins.

I do hope we get something tomorrow on actual Halloween, I'm getting my flu shot tomorrow and I need the distraction when I feel like my arm's gonna fall off.

Unrelated: Love Phil's new glasses, love Phil's old glasses, just wish he'd wear them on camera more often. And with more often I mean all. the. time. His face was made for glasses, they suit him so well.

Spooky Week might have been the weakest one yet but this image has cheered me up no end. I wish he would wear his glasses every day, he is gorgeous.

Slenderman SquarePants or whatever it was called was cool. Not scary at all but I did enjoy it, and I watched it twice. I don't really have much to say about it other than I would love to know what Dan said when they bleeped and pixelated him. It must have been pretty bad seeing as he's used every other profanity this week.
I'm not disappointed "spooky" week is over, I found most of the videos weak tbh. My favourite one was Outlast and I rewatched it tonight, it's a shame Phil didn't like it, his face at the end was so funny when he was horrified, maybe when the game comes out Dan will make a little hour long video of him playing it. I'd be so down for them playing some serious not banty games once in a while.
