I'm happy more people are interested in The Cat Lady. I was the one who first talked about it a few weeks ago, and then melon lord followed. As I said back then, it would be cool if deppy play it, but I don't think they would dare. It's too mature for their channel/audience.

You guys made me curious so I'm playing it right now, enjoying it a lot so far (first chapter reaction in the gaming thread). But yeah, I can't see Deppy play it on their channel, they'd had to trigger warning the shit out of it. So damn curious how they'd react to it though. Makes me want to play games with them.

I really enjoyed the video tonight, but tbf I'm not too hard to please at the moment. I just needed something fluffy to get me through dinner prep.

I cringed so much I rolled off my bed I love Philly (yes I call him Philly unironically, let me be) as much as the next person but I hate this subscriber pity party people do. It makes me feel weird and bad. On one hand, I think he deserves more subscribers than fucking Alfie but on the other I don't want someone to be subscribed to him just to match another person or because they feel bad. I think he might have found it funny but at the same time I hope it doesn't inspire another wave of "get phil to _ mill" I feel like his character and sweetness inspires attachment towards him and a motherly wave of support from everyone who watches (I'm guilty of being overprotective at times ). They want him to succeed but I hope people realize that the number of subscribers don't determine that. He got really far from where he started and has succeeded in everything and looks like he's in a really happy and satisfied with his life so yea

To add to that I think he should not play it safe but instead try to expand more on his career while he has the chance. I'm seeing a break from the AP persona in a lot of the spooky videos as well as his recent liveshows and I hope we see this transcend into his channel. They are literally the hottest most marketable youtubers rn and I hope they have a shit ton of future secret projects in the works

I'll be perfectly honest here, as someone so far up their asses I can practically see the light, do they really, honestly deserve any of these? Dan winning best series of ISG? Phil for travel vlog? Really? What's the point of these awards, we can see from the Teen Choice that they literally don't care if they win or lose. They accepted their award, went home and Dan was spotted by fans later that evening buying groceries. None of this matters, I'm sick of the popularity contest

About the video. I have many questions about the mask they did not answer and I doubt they ever will. I really hope a fan gave it to them, I couldn't begin to fathom why they would deliberately design and order them but this was my favorite video so far, this week had a rough start but I hope we finish out with a bang (baking video please )

I'm glad they are professional votes and not public, cause I will certainly disagree if ISG wins the category. Saying that I do hope will win the public vote for best collab, lets be real they have the best collab chemistry in the industry when it comes to old-school vlogging.

Agreed. It's very odd and a tad inappropriate to put ISG in the same category as, say, Oscar's Hotel, which was an actual months-long production with a big crew and cast and...you know...effort. Not that I dislike ISG or anything...

If ISG wins over the other nominees I won't know whether to laugh or cry because what kind of message does that send about the cost of producing quality content?? Don't get me wrong, Dan reading angsty emails in front of a camera is pretty damn funny, but I agree it shouldn't be compared to big production content. Which makes me really wonder if someone is trying to get interest/drama/speculation started over these awards...

Late as always. Just want to say I like the video but am not spooked by anything. I only got jumpscared once early on in the video. I find the video more funny than anything, especially when they are facing the eyes. It is so ridiculous I laugh out loud a lot.

I liked the video a lot, more because of how good they both looked especially since their fringes got mussed up when they took the masks off and then Dan's stayed there like a turtleneck collar. Good look. The game was interesting, I was curious to see where it was going and if the girl herself would appear. Seems I find all of them mysterious, if anything, rather than frightening, I didn't find Outlast or PT scary either. Those masks were horrible, though.

Good point about ISG being in that category. I saw Oscar's Hotel and that has a full story going through it, one for each episode, a massive cast, prosthetics and makeup galore. Jack and Dean Of All Trades has the stories too and is quite funny, though I didn't love it. I've watched less than half the stuff the Brit film and comedy crew have made and it's already getting samey, but they're growing up with it, it might yet branch out beyond awkward guys and their suffering girlfriends. I have a soft spot as Bertie Gilbert was one of the first I used to watch when he made vlogs as a kid. I hope Oscar's Hotel wins that category. Same with things like travel vlogs, a one-off seems on a par with one by a regular travel vlogger only in a pinch. Deps don't need to win everything.

I agree. When I first got into them, I liked and agreed with all those comments saying "I feel so bad for Phil because he has less subscribers than Dan" and stuff like that. Omg, poor angel bean, how must he feel since he was there first and now Dan has more subscribers... But once I realised that subscribers mean nothing and it's the views that count, I stopped and I'm still cringing when I remember the few months I was like that. A lot of popular series (PINOF, DITL, most baking videos) are on Phil's channel and although his regular videos get less views than Dan's, they are still popular and as far as I know, the gap isn't too big.
Let's be real, both of them have viewers that only watch them because they are cute guys with British accents. Dan also has a lot of casual viewers that relate to his videos but don't care about him as a person. I think Phil might be lucky not to have many of those because many of his subscribers are actually dedicated and watch his videos. A lot of Dan's subscribers only watch him once in a while or never check their subscription box.
Besides, they're both successful. A dedicated fanbase, two books, a show in GB, the USA, Australia and three places in Europe, merch, etc., they have achieved so much. And I'm pretty sure the stuff that gives them the most money, is the stuff they make together. No need to feel sorry for Phil!

I agree that they shouldn't be in the same category, because they are so very different.

However, now that they are, i don't think isg winning would be so terrible. I only watched 4 episodes of oscar's hotel even though i bought all of them, because it bored me so much and if the jack and dean series is like their videos, i'd probably find it entertaining, but not actually funny, while isg makes me laugh every single episode.

It all comes back to the discussion on low effort vs. high effort content and their quality, but we've had that discussion several times on idb, so just ignore me

(i do understand why it would be disheartening for some of the other creators if something like isg would win, but that's the fault of the people putting all of them in the same category, what were they thinking?)

That's interesting, I do it the other way round because I don't want to miss the videos on channels I am only sometimes interested in. Well I'm anything but a gamer and I managed to beat all 5 levels first time somehow? It's awkward with a trackpad and I think I just gave myself repetitive strain injury but I came out of it with 71780 anyhow yeah I'm not that impressed in Dan's skills if winning that is his achievement of the day

also I've been super awol because school, life etc, but I'm enjoying spooky week so far, Outlast and the Doll game were my faves and I'm excited for whatever tonight brings

I'm late talking about yesterdays video (spooky week is so demanding lol) so I just some jumbled thoughts:

- Am I the only one more scared of this unpredictable weirdness and cheap disturbing imagry that was Timore Inferno than anything else so far? The most high-res blood splatter of outlast doesnt get me spooked that much, but being surrounded by geometric objects all rendered the same texture had me shitting my pants already lol
I LOVED the video but it was such a stressful experience. Maybe it's because I wasn't exactly sober when I watched this yesterday but I was honestly wondering why everybody called it crappy and non-spooky
(should re-watch and check..)

- Dan sticking his tongue though the eye of that mask was the most disturbing thing I have seen in a long time.

- Also there were so many great lines that made me crack up I'm sure there is material for a new thread name now

- In the beginning Dan says "Has the reckoning finally come for my soul I thought this would happen on a thursday"
Apart from this showing that they filmed all of this in advance (which is clear to us but to the general audience it might not) what's it with Thursdays lately? See discussion here earlier about first date/thursday evening simulator. Is this some kind of new inside joke or just a coincidence?

Hmmm, I don't know how to feel about this... He must be getting paid to tweet that to his 4 mil+ followers and to make it seem like a ''cute fun thing he's doing for lols'' without saying that he's getting paid feels a bit iffy to me. I mean at least he's promoting a fun little game and not a product per se but it just irks me when celebrities aren't transparent with these things. Don't get me wrong, I don't think that sponsored tweets are evil and I'm glad he's getting money but it's just...I feel like I'm being played in a way?
