Bless the person who made the jump scare list and bless Deppy for adding it to the description though. I'm a wimp, I hate being startled :')

like you said, not particularly interesting but i also found it funny & i have the same ring tone. it is at 22:08.

a few other timestamps because i enjoyed this video so much :
0:11 - “a plain person in the streets, a vampire cat in the sheets.”
phil showing off his legs i mean socks cause that is obviously what we were all looking at.
0:57 - his whole “no indie games or weird files” makes me want to reiterate: no one is forcing you to play those - you chose them . if you want to play a “proper, expensive horror” NO ONE would complain..
1:44 - “woof”
5:18 -
10:08 - phil knows latin - i feel like collectively they know so many languages also made me have horrible latin learning flashbacks.
14:12 - phil makes himself laugh.
16:03 - “i spat on the screen,” “thanks for cleaning that.”
17:23 - “switch on the lights, please.” with quite possibly the cutest "please"
17:31 - them talking about silent games makes me salty they don’t play something like that on the gaming channel.
18:11 - cutest part of this video imo - “no” and the little shoulder nudge
24:43 - the fondest ever “philll, not now.”
also OT but today i watching an old phil ls from 2013 where dan and phil said they wouldn’t make a gaming channel and it made laugh a bit. but with all the talk about them not playing games they genuinely enjoy i hope overall they still enjoy having the gaming channel.

super rambly thoughts lacking structure:

i think i'm in a minority? I enjoyed yesterday's sonic video far more than today's. which makes no sense to me, either. Silent Hill is one of my most rewatched videos of their's ever. i diiiig this stuff. I think with Sonic, there were so many funny moments to me, and them just shit-talking and having in-jokes, i felt far more incorporated into the atmosphere.

not enjoying the content being played is rarely an issue for me, as it's about whether they're enjoying it. that's what i'm watching. flash game, spon, established game, i don't care. but today's, the game just wasn't scary to me, it felt banal and gratuitous (as the first Outlast does, too - though I adored Dan's solo play). that made me feel disconnected from their immersion, and that vague feeling of disconnect wasn't made up for by other moments between them to find interesting. having said that, i loved that they were so into it - that's what i signed up for, and i want more of that. for sure. i would still watch a hundred of today's over stuff they are struggling to make comment on.

Phil was more disturbed by the gore and themes than Dan, and I lean slightly towards Dan (i liked his explanation of this at the end) in what I find unnerving; fictional gore doesn't impact me at all, neither does continual high stakes action. i like a slow burn and psychological creepiness. it made me wonder if Phil is affected by haunting images and implications of suffering. that is one thing i can't take, real-life suffering (i'll watch horror movie after horror movie, but don't make me watch the news). fictional depictions just feel a bit cheap, they don't bring up war footage and shit i've had reoccurring nightmares over. So what i found valuable from this video was learning that maybe there is that connection for Phil. maybe not, maybe he just didn't know how to light-heartedly react and he's already forgotten about it. any hint of Phil's vulnerabilities is catnip to me.

Sonic felt like the 2010 gaming vids. i don't know what it was about their dynamic, but it easily could've been filmed back then. Dan was slightly too cynical towards the beginning, but towards the end he was sucked in and participating; watching Phil have that ability to make him interested is fascinating. people say Dan's enthusiasm and passion is contagious, even if you don't care about his subject matter - but I think Phil has that power with Dan in some pretty subtle ways. i wonder if that dynamic is an explanation for a lot of decision making.

I am going to rewatch it right now, in fact. their silliness and laid-backness is addictive.

and um...Phil laughing at Dan's cum joke? wth?! a filthy joke shared with not a smidge of Playing Dumb or Office Stare? i nearly fell off my chair. i might be reading too much into it but i even though i saw a hint of bashfulness in Phil's smile.

how do you guys notice things like the ringtone? i wouldn't have picked that up even in headphones.
took your timecodes out of spoilers because those things are a bitch to write down, and you shouldn't risk anyone not seeing and appreciating them!

agree with you 18:11 and 24:43 are cutie patootie. it's endearing to see them so immersed and playing on the same team for the same goal.

Months before they announced TABINOF Dan said he wouldn't write a book. Bitch ass liars indeed.

Hm Phil enjoys thrillers and books like that, he's quite a Stephen King fan. He even mentioned in the video that if he'd read the description for the game on the back of a book he would want to read it. Maybe he just does better with books though.

he is yeah, i'd guess he's actually the bigger horror fan of the two from those things we know alone, so it's interesting to me what sort of horror or thrill he seeks and those he doesn't rate.

I dont know if its just me but i enjoy watching people screaming in fear its like a catharsis (because in real life i'm such a pussy myself) that's probably why i enjoy their genuine reactions. though i kinda agree those reverse crosses, children corpses, and cults are tacky but even if i dont find what their playing scary their scared reaction is enough for me. that's probably why for me the FNAF and sonic videos (just to clear this out I enjoyed the first sonic game Dan actually was worried that Phil installed a random .exe file he found on the internet ) are below average i'm not saying I didn't enjoy them they just didn't fit the theme of spooky week for me (sarcastic reactions, acted reactions, just forced jump scares) while the outlast on the other hand had atmosphere, justified scares, and the most important thing them being into it.

(oops this was mentioned already ohh well ill keep it) i was kinda surprised that Phil was still disgusted by this kind of stuff i mean he reads Stephen king i dont read a lot of Stephen king myself but i am somewhat familiar of horror ( i'm more of a Lovecraft kinda guy)

TLDR: I like their genuine reactions better rather than their sarcastic/bantsy reactions because it fits with the theme of spooky week better

OK. Now that’s what I call spooky :-o
I mean, it didn’t creep me out in that under-the-skin way that I usually go for but it had all the requisite traits for Halloween. I'm a happy safe-in-her-home-far-FAR-away-from-Arizona-desert-death-farms camper. Memorable moments:

- You all saw it. I saw it. Yes, I am referring to The Thigh. I. am. speechless.
- I had to pause the video and take in the whole vampire cat exchange. Mainly by cracking up. Oh those two
- Phil’s spooky star and moon cups were so cute
- The Raven: CAW muthafuckers! Phil: lolnopebye
- Phil speaking Latin yes please
- Dan semi-seriously giving notes on the shadow animation.
- Poor Philly, he was not having a nice evening :( Don’t blame him at all. The phandom collectively sends him a pot of tea, hot apple cider donuts, and a fluffy guard pup in the super hero costume of his choice to sleep at the foot of his bed.
- Phil softly protesting and Dan silently cracking up at 18:18-26 might just be my favorite part of this one.
- I’ve gotten steelier lately with the jump scares. The only one that actually made me physically jump was that one dude who appears when you leave the school and go back to the desert terror farm.
- Phil: “Grab an ear of corn and get some health.”
- Both of their reactions to the d*ck chopping were priceless.
Yandere Simulator is not super Halloween-y but it's so messed up...oh the bant and wtf moment possibilities. The flame somehow makes me think it might not be though- it has too many other disturbing murder options. Guess we’ll find out soon.

That was a great video! It wasn't spooky at all to me and I don't think I even jumped once, but that's probably because I just got back from Netherworld(one of the top rated haunted houses in the U.S.) before watching it and I'm all jump scared out. xD It was certainly a much spookier game than the others they have played this week, although I did enjoy those too.

Looking forward to rewatching this one a second time, maybe when it's not 3am.

(Also I know the subject has changed but I am LIVING for those compilations of their pictures of eachother. aaah )

Quick Review on today's DAPG:
Compared to PT (which still scares the fluff out of me to this day), Outlast 2 isn't... as terrifying? Haunting? Thrilling? Dunno, but Outlast is scarier (imo). I only threw my tablet once, and I got a quick hold on it, unlike in PT where even my earphones got removed.
I love how they keep making jokes (or whatever), and wouldn't even tell each other off because 'immersion'. Also, I think that Phil isn't really that terrified, but is more likely to be disturbed and is questioning the morality of the people in the game (whut). Phil seems to be more... drained? He seems to be pretty drained at the end and is ready to just stare off into space to question their decision on playing it. On the other hand... Dan is barely terrified, and I think that he found Outlast more terrifying than this. I like how Phil sometimes insists to back off, but on other times, he'll push Dan to check out something.
I have no idea why, but I'm not as 'immersed' in this as PT. The atmosphere isn't as established as PT, I guess
...Last but not the least: Phil's shorts Maybe that's why it's not as scary as I thought it would be.
Side note: I tried to keep my eyes on Dan, but I ended up looking at Phil instead lol.

eyyyy i'm alive barely*makes spooky noises*

btw about my gif you're all free to use them/keep them/whatever, I don't mind

I loved the video. I feel like PT is the crowning glory of spooky games on their channel but PT was a crowning glory in general in the gaming community and I'm still not over it being cancelled.

That being said I think Outlast 2 is less "spooky" but it's also got a very different intention. It's the mystery of the horrors that you encounter that's the real kicker. Being a journalist and discovering effed up things and disturbing contents and potential cults and stuff, and you having to dig deeper into it with only a camera at your disposal, is quite scary, but I don't think it's the same intention as PT. I find it all quite fascinating in general, it's like... Outlast 2 is scary because you're finding out what people were capable of whereas PT is like you're finding out what paranormal beings can do to you and how the whole world plays with your mind. Also there is always something terrifying about corn maze chases in the dark with flashlights.

I think they should play White Day. Pants will be shit. that janitor tho, ngl human evil is less scary to me than paranormal evil but that janitor scared the daylights out of me

Haven't finished the video yet but I'm anticipating people are going to be unhappy with how un-scared they are. I personally find it hilarious though
Like seriously their reactions to the monsters are hilarious.
Honourable mentions:
Phil: 'It just wants to make out with you'
Dan 'Please love me!'
-----
Dan: 'It looks like slenderman flayed' (horrifying)
Dan: 'It was going to knee me'

This video was really fun! I jumped with some of the jumpscares tbh, and I watched it without checking the comments for jumpscares so I'm quite proud of myself :P

Dan's description of how scared he was, "life somehow found a way" I couldn't stop laughing.

So the clue was actually creepy dolls + hell!

I checked Dan's twitter and the emoji clue for tomorrow's video is this. Any guesses?

I actually really enjoyed that one, I did scream at the first jumpscare because I'm an eejit but the rest wasn't really jumpscary it was fun watching them play a game they did seem to enjoy! Outlast scared the hell out of me and I spent most of the video wanting to hug Phil because he seemed as scared as I was.

Where the hell did they get those face masks? That's the strangest/creepiest thing I've seen in ages

Damn, that's gotta be my fave so far this Spooky Week.

Because it was spooky (I got so fucking jumpscared jesus christ) but at the same time it was silly because of the graphics and all and that brought the fun out in D&P. They could make fun of the game AND enjoy it and be scared at the same time and the combination was just great.

Dan was such a li'l joy too.

No offense to the talent and hard work of the nominated creators, but this show is a joke and a publicity stunt. There are millions of creators on youtube, but the same 5 people get nominated for everything? Someone just decided they could make money selling tickets/getting views by having an awards show. I'm actually insulted by the lack of nominations for other, more talented creators.

I enjoy A LOT today's video. It was fun, it had lots of jumpscares, but above all, they had fun playing it, and that makes me happy. I love this kind of shitty games hahaha

YESSSS! This was what I wanted! I enjoyed this video the most so far. Maybe it has shitty graphics but I don't give a shit because it has jumpscares and creepiness and that's what I want from scary games. I don't expect them to top this one tomorrow, but who knows, maybe they'll prove me wrong.

Their face masks though, extremely disturbing!
Dan seriously called Phil out for ruining the immersion, I wanna slap him! Don't you dare say this when it's what you've been doing the whole first two videos, you little shit :sideeye:
At 11:41 I must've looked exactly like Phil because I was flapping my arms like that as well  I synchronised with Philly, this is making my evening I didn't scream though because I have a flatmate and it would've been awkward.

Yasss Dan was hilarious in this. The things that came out of his mouth . I need to study Phils face when Dan said the "fuck me in the ass" since I was too busy watching the game its probs not the first time he heard that from dan

The game itself was so enjoyable. It was a perfect mixture of horror, general creepiness, and appropriate jump scares. Also loved all their bants and opinions! Im happy that Spooky Week has been going uphill in terms of improving the content being posted and I cant wait for tomorrows game
