Or most Mondays.)Catallena wrote: Mon Aug 16, 2021 11:33 pm Remember that time when Dan said he was gonna do random #MentalMondays and post sections of his book, and then he managed to stick with that until uhhh... 2 weeks after that?![]()

Dan and Phil shop has been down for a week.
Do we think the last sale was their final gasp? Or is it gonna come back... somehow? I mean, I think them still having a place to sell things like the books or if they ever do joint content is good even if it's more like an offshoot of their actual shops than a proper one itself.
Or hey, maybe we're in for joint branding 2.0 and they're working on lockdown look plushes. (Complete with bad hair on Phil compliments of a Dan cutting his hair.)

I just checked it before coming here and saw it was down but didn't realize it's been for a whole week! I received my sale order a few days ago & I'm wearing the "cat whiskers" tshirt I had always kinda wanted but thought maybe it was too cringe but now it's just sweet nostalgia and it's actually really soft. Was hoping to get another one if they were still in stock.alittledizzy wrote: Tue Aug 17, 2021 7:15 pm Dan and Phil shop has been down for a week.

Bittersweet if it is actually *the end* of the shop. I'm gad they're moving on to the next chapter but man, the Dan and Phil™ era sure was fun and browsing through the shop always felt like a walk through memory lane.
I know this is not the point but this is the third time we’ve seen Dan with random strangers without a mask? Kind of disappointed
The podcast looks fun. I have a hard time with listening but I’m glad any time there’s new content. If anyone listens, did he say anything new?

Masks are no longer compulsory in England! By now, he must be double jabbed too.
I don't know much about pronouns since I never questioned myself, but could some explain what could be the reason behind Dan not having pronouns while the other two host have?

Dan’s pronouns (he/him) are on the podcast’s graphic above (in the Mermaids tweet) and also on the podcast’s insta post.

I really enjoyed that podcast. And was surprised at it just being fresh, new content he's done VERY recently!
There were certainly a handful of awkward moments from Dan. Sometimes when I listen to him, I get the impression he's being overly cautious with what he says and how he responds to conversation topics, which ends up with him either being silent or only sticking to things he's confidently said before. Or otherwise, he trips on his words.
But - on the whole - an enjoyable listen that really made me wonder if he's considering doing his own podcast and what that might end up sounding like? I'm sure he'd love the idea of a Stereo/liveshow type thing where he has more control and can edit what he's said after-the-fact.

I loved the podcast! I think this kind of Dan is my ideal combo of who we know as Dan and the sometimes over the top ‘Professional Dan’ he is trying to create. Smart and articulate but very funny and not too forced or scripted like I sometimes feel he is now

lmaooo oh Tyler what a troll I love it. I must listen to the podcast tomorrow, Dan looks so cute in those photos, what a lil squish.
I stg the interview process is messing with my vibe of keeping up with things. Investment banking is a trap kids. I am round 7 of interviews for a job I could do in my sleep, I should never have deleted my youtube channel in 2011

What madzilla said is true, but I thought it would be worth pulling out what Dan actually said in the introduction portion of the podcast as well:madzilla84 wrote: Wed Aug 18, 2021 1:04 pm Dan’s pronouns (he/him) are on the podcast’s graphic above (in the Mermaids tweet) and also on the podcast’s insta post.
The line about not calling is both very Dan and a call back to a joke made in the introduction of one of the hosts, but I think it is important to note that Dan continues to express openness to different pronouns. (Which, as mentioned in BIG, the indifference that Dan carries at the moment is in some ways a privilege)Dan wrote: Hi, I'm Dan and I can go as a he/him or whatever you want to call me, as long as you don't call me because I have severe social anxiety and I don't like people.
Within the first few minutes, Dan also (jokingly ofc) pushed back a bit at one of the presenters calling him 'Dan the man' and I think it's really interesting to observe and leave some space for Dan as he has and continues to work over his relationship with gender, expression and language.
So I listened to the podcast this morning while I was working and overall it was really nice listening to a casual, just chatting Dan podcast that wasn't centred around the book. I'll admit that I did give up on the YWGTTN promo podcasts because they were becoming way too repetitive to listen to so this was refreshing. I don't know if it's just harder to insert yourself into random chitchat as a guest on a podcast hosted by two people but I agree that Dan did feel a little absent at times.
Something that made me a bit uncomfy though was one of the hosts (Shivani I believe?) flirting with Dan several times during the podcast. Not in 'only phan allowed' way but in a not to people you don't really know and who aren't really playing along with it kind of way. He tried to save the sexy comment but he just ignored most of the others and it was very cringey to me when they kept it up. Sure, Dan's clearly a flirty guy online to a completely open audience on twitter or in collab videos with people he had some level of established acquaintance/friendship with but I don't recall him being directly flirty with an interviewer before. Admittedly it's something I'm quite sensitive about but, to me, it's one of those things that belongs with being 'playfully mean' as things you should probs leave to people you know well enough to know that they're cool with it too because it could make a lot of other people very uncomfortable.
Sorry for the off-topic tangent, it wasn't a massive part of the podcast by any means but it's been on my mind since I listened so thought I'd share.

I noticed it too but it didn't phase me much. They kept calling him sexy and hot, and I don't blame him for not responding as he was kind of put on the spot. I do think they are an old fan or something because they said on twitter that they were starstruck (and went into my mentions just to make sure we know he smells good lol). So I think for them it might have been a "this is my once in a lifetime moment with this man, if I don't shoot my shot my younger self will not forgive me" kind of thing.shan wrote: Thu Aug 19, 2021 3:10 am

I totally get that, but it was the persistence that really niggled at me I think. Especially since they didn't seem to be getting any kind of reaction that signalled these comments were welcome (and I think most of us would assume they probably weren't). Ending it on Dan please slide into my DMs didn't help either. I can't tell for sure whether they were serious or joking but it just sat weird with me. I'm probably also projecting a bit from my time working in customer service back in the day and some awful experiences with guys who wouldn't take the hint or flat out wouldn't accept no as an answer to their advances. Flirting with someone when they're in work mode just gives me uncomfy feelings in general.kavat wrote: Thu Aug 19, 2021 5:44 amI noticed it too but it didn't phase me much. Feeling very nostalgic recently so, since the boys aren't really giving us anything new to talk about, I have a question if anyone wants to play along!
You can erase your memory of one Dan and Phil related video and experience watching it again for the first time. Which video would you pick and why? It can be anything! Solo, joint, gaming, collab with someone else etc.
Mine's a bit basic but I would probably chose giving the people what they want. So much happened in that one video and I remember reacting so strongly to it, like actual out loud reactions instead of the usual smile and lol I get from most of them. I also remember needing a pillow to hide behind just in case during the yoga segment
It felt like the next big step of them not caring how they were perceived by the viewers and I just have lots of cozy mems of that video.

Ooh fun question! My mind went right to BIG but it took me days to process that properly and I don't think I have the energy for that nowshan wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 12:09 am Feeling very nostalgic recently so, since the boys aren't really giving us anything new to talk about, I have a question if anyone wants to play along!

Monster pops was so special, it felt like nothing else of the time. I would enjoy getting to watch that for the first time again.
But if I could cheat I might choose watching livestreams of Boncas. A shaky and blurry stream of a pretty poorly managed event, but seeing Phil bring Dan on stage and have no idea what comes next. What an evening that was.

For me It would 100 be Dan coming out. The way that was dropped with no warning, the reveal after reveal that kept happening throughout the video. I felt so unbelievably seen and so absolutely shook. I watched it twice back to back because it hit me so hard, even tho I should definitely have been in bed.kavat wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 6:29 amOoh fun question! BIG was the first one that came to my mind as well but it was such an intense emotional experience that I think I'm happy knowing where that journey is going now. It was a bombshell of a video to wake up to and I was lucky that nothing important was happening that day because it was a complete wash for me, I watched it three times in a row sobbing the whole way. If your emotions can handle it, it'd definitely be an amazing one to watch from scratch though!Tornbetweenfandoms wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 6:43 am For me It would 100 be Dan coming out. Sometimes I'm jealous I came to the phandom late and missed out on most of the post-baking universe moments in real time but then I'm also really glad I could speed run it without the suspense

I can say I would definitely not want to experience BIG blind again - as incredible as it is, emotionally it was quite harrowing and left a deep, painful impact on me for quite a long time (and I'm nervous to this day about Dan Beyonce-ing a new thing that might have a similar effect ... ow, my emotions!!!), especially coming out of left field like that.
I thought I'd also say GTPWTW as it was the one that sent me over the edge with regards to joining the Phandom; I'd watched them before that but that was the one that started my descent into phannie madness, I bought my II ticket because of it (very last minute) etc. But, having thought about it, I'm gonna say a quite recent one: Cards Against Humanity: Phan Edition. We'd had Dan joining in with Phil and Phriends not too long previously, but I thought that would probably be a one-off and the CAH one was the video I sort of never expected them to make, and especially after the long LONG LOOOONG drought preceding it it was content I never thought we'd see again. And not only that, I just remember how I felt the first time I watched it not only seeing the whole video but hearing them announce the twice-weekly liveshows ... I didn't think it was gonna be a permanent thing of course but to me it was the return of hope that we might see them together again, even if it's not for a while. It even helped me deal with the inevitable droughts (like now) better, because it showed that it probably will happen again, just who knows when? And that's a much nicer feeling than the previous ones.

Even though it's not that old, just because I was watching it yesterday I'm gonna go with VPMO 2. It was a video I had talked about wanting for months and it absolutely delivered. It was refreshing banter after not much Dan for so long, they were laughing a lot, Phil looked great and was open about trying to put himself out of his comfort zone a little bit, etc. Plus, it was the final nail in the coffin that they'd definitely moved into the filming flat, which was interesting and also a clue that they were planning a bigger move soon after we had been waiting and theorizing about it for so long.shan wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 12:09 am Feeling very nostalgic recently so, since the boys aren't really giving us anything new to talk about, I have a question if anyone wants to play along!
