lmao that's the question everyone was asking! He mentioned rinsing pasta to get the sand off before he cookies it, and the collective answer was "wait, what?"

Then he called it dust, which didn't make it sound any better lol.

No wonder they get takeaway so often

He must have confused it with rice at some point right? You rinse the starch off rice before cooking it, is that where he got it? So confused.

He meant the dust of any crushed pasta in the bag, that’s all. Sand was a funny way to put it, though.

At one point, Phil pulled up the shop backend map so everyone could see themselves on the global map (which was quite fun) and I had two delightful things

1) I totally do that with my online shop, too, I like to just look at where people are sitting on the website from

2) I now know what they use for their shop backend (shopify)

Do we think Phil’s new video is going to be in front of the green screen?

I can only hear ‘super kawaii’ in Phil’s voice from AmazingDan. I still remember learning ‘kawaii’ from a Cats the musical fansite for the magical Mr Mistoffelees and the very popular guy who played him in the ‘98 video, they’d rewritten his song and shoehorned the word in despite too many syllables.

I’ve seen some discussion of this but Phil’s pin looked like it was in Manchester - Would that be because the warehouse is there and he was logged into the shop account?

I saw someone suggest that maybe they have moved? That could explain the weird location change. It would be perfect timing for them to do so, having just come back from their 2 week trip to Japan. Also, that could be what Phil's new video is about! :tinfoil:

what’s weird to me is this: the bit of the live show that i am having SUCH A DIFFICULT time digesting is—they went to DISNEY? and didn’t instagram it?? why is that so Weird and Suspicious to me (in a way that i don’t even know what i’m implying by Suspicious!) it just feels like a veeeeeeery instagramable place? i’m so thrown by the fact that we didn’t know?? that they went to disney??

why am i so stuck on it? who knowssss

anyway, great live show. man i love phil.

That STILL doesn't make sense he's putting it in water anyway and what's with pouring boiling water on top of it after the pasta was already boiled??? Phil Lester I love you but you're causing me heart pain.

Didn't we already know it was Shopify? I thought it was a known thing haha
And I think the pin just wasn't 100% correct location - even if I look at my own IP address (which is the thing the shop uses to identify the location) google indicates it something like 200km away from where I actually am, it just indicates the country more or less
Will probably never be over the BONCAS and the beauty of Phil Lester.

I don't remember if we've talked about this, but I think it's a bit iffy that Phil promotes a crypto currency to an audience of minors. Through Rize it was at least not front and center but now he talks about it as a sponsored segment and something fun to engage people.

I don't know, I just find it odd.

I find cryptocurrency in general and props in particular odd. Especially as last time I checked, Props couldn’t be used to purchase anything outside the YouNow app—which is no different from any in-game currency on any website. From the few articles I’ve read it is different, but either way I can’t bring myself to be interested.

YouNow/Rize has always seemed to target a teenage audience with their products. I don’t know if they had to make any changes due to COPPA? But if they bring youtubers like Phil and Rose and Rosie to their platform, I’m thankful for that.

Did the page Phil went to show an IP? I’m glad it wasn’t at his house. I don’t think there are many people who have both the ability and the mentality to show up at dnp’s residence uninvited, but still.

I think ip location shows where your isp’s servers are based, or the nearest if they have more than one base, though showing your location also shows me the next town over if not a bit further.

He’s pouring water over the pasta after cooking to rinse off the excess starch. I saw on tumblr the other day that that water is really good for plants so I guess we should tell him that.

happy ten years to the first tweet that properly made me think 'okay... there is no 'just friends' explanation for this.'

i mean, finding the 2009 social media stuff back when they wouldn't even put their arms around each other for 3-legged ddr was a wild experience in general, but this was the first thing that i couldn't reasonably explain away or brush off as a joke.

Ok just watching the liveshow on lessamazingphil now and his advent calendar review was so funny, trying not to cackle in my lunch break! Him assessing all the creatures on the front, the sadness of no festive chocolate shapes or pictures in the doors - he's taking this very seriously, I love it.
Also I wonder if the tree delivery company which keep disappointingly not wearing kilts were on their 3rd strike? :epictree:

I can’t stop thinking about the lost decorations!! I hope they find them; I’ll be genuinely sad if they don’t find all those ornaments they’ve collected together over all these years. (Not that I expect them to share their tree this year, but here’s hoping!)

Carla from Bon Appétit was just as impressed with Phil's inventive new way of cooking spaghetti as the rest of us.

These are precious. <3 I realized I haven't heard any of the IRL team speak enough to know who's talking. Is it Martyn and Cornelia?

That’s the photographer, I think, the female voice.
