I'm so sad I can't go, I've been living less than an hour from Toronto for almost a year (and so missed all the UK shows) but of course the one weekend I'm away in Seattle they have to come to Toronto

if it weren't for exams I'd make the effort to travel to one of the other US dates but I just don't have the time or money really, just gonna have to wait for the Europe tour when I'm back home

That sucks! When are you going back home? Hopefully they give people an expected date in advance for when they're going to do the European tour.

I'll be back at home on and off during the summer between travelling, but from August onwards I can go basically wherever in Europe whenever, so I'll find a way to see one of the Amsterdam/Brussels/Paris shows somehow!

Have a great time at the Toronto show though! I'm very jealous

Thank you! I'll leave a review here after the show as I don't think anyone else on this forum is going to a Toronto show lol.
And that's great! I was always jealous about how easy/cheap it is to travel between European countries. I mean, I can go to the US easily but the culture is essentially the same. Whereas from Greece to France to England etc etc. the cultures are quite different!

I would love to go as I live pretty close to Toronto but I'm kinda disabled and I don't think I could physically manage it.

I'll just have to content myself with living vicariously through you blueapple_x!

I'll try to write a thorough review/spoiler! But if you change your mind let me know!
I'm not gonna lie, I have an impending feeling of dread as I can already envision myself standing awkwardly in the corner of the lobby while I watch people wearing cat whiskers scream lol.

I'm not begging you to write a review, blueapple_x, but I'm begging you to please right a review please? (even just a quick word on what they had to say about Canada!)
I'm an hour's GO Train trip away, but the shows clash with my daughter's birthday weekend. It physically pains me a bit to have to miss what seems to be such a special show!

I wonder if they'll wear the gold suits for the dance routine in Toronto. I can imagine their new American flag suits not going over well with some people!
blueapple_x Just out of interest, do you have a VIP ticket or just regular?
Lain Take your daughter to see them? (You can pretend its for her benefit

)

@Lain you're a good parent! Like bluntedclaws said I would've taken her with me and just made it up to her afterwards lol. You don't have to answer this if you don't want to, but are you going away for her bday and that's why you can't attend either of the weekend shows?
@bluntedclaws I have regular admission! By the time I finally caved and decided to go, it was long after all the VIP sold out. Although tbh I'm not the type to go up to famous people for pictures/chats so I wouldn't have gotten VIP anyway even if it was still an option for me lol
Ugh, I have a feeling they're going to bring the American shirts merch and the American sparkly costume...anyone know if the Toronto dates are on the back of the t-shirts?

Unfortunately too young to go! Just turning 6. We're not going away that weekend, but we are having two parties (one for her school friends at an indoor playground and one the following day for just family at the insistence of her grandma!). Just a busy weekend and sadly not the best time for a trip to T.O. My husband was willing to go with me, though - he'd like me to state for the record.

Aww I see. That's nice of your husband to say that though haha!

Either he's done something, or he's storing up brownie points - either way, be wary...!
That, or he's worried you're going to disappear off with two weird british dudes...

I'd disappear after sneaking aboard their bus to finally put this "how many beds" discussion to rest
(do you, do you see what I did there?), and have it drive away.

Despite how much I complain about their Canadian dates, I almost said fuck it and was going to grab the 6 hour train to TO for it. Turns out however that I will be in the middle of a move on May 8 in the complete opposite direction. I guess I will have to wait to live vicariously through those of you who do go.
Would they really sell the U.S. Merch in Canada? I'm trying to remember if I've ever seen anyone willingly wear something with an American flag in Canada. They'd be better having British merch I think.

I guess someone asked...
I kind of expected that after hearing them repeatedly refer to Toronto like such an afterthought lol

I'm still sort of trying to maintain the belief that they were just trying to avoid having to get a work visa (since you don't need one for one shot theatre productions), and not that they just forgot/were ignorant about the massively spread out country that their, what, 3rd largest fanbase comes from.
I'd love to see the sales numbers on the merch compared to the U.S. though. I want to see how many Canadian would actually buy a shirt with an American flag on it.

I'm sure they got one for the US though? I don't see why they wouldn't just kill two birds with one stone by getting a work visa for Canada too IF they intended to go to more than just Toronto so that after the US tour, they can drive straight to Canada for a proper Canadian one.
I'm more curious about what kind of apologetic joke they're going to drop (if any) at the Toronto shows regarding them selling American merch. I don't think the American merch will deter people from buying.

If that's the case, I'm a bit confused as to why they would have a second show in TO while avoiding the rest of the country instead of having the second show in Ottawa or Montreal, which would get them some more casual fans plus the hardcore ones from TO willing to drive the only mildly obnoxious distance.
As for the merch, I'd was more interested in if the anti-American sentiment has faded a bit. I remember a kiosk at a fair getting trashed when they had American stuff during the whole American idiot/post 9/11 era, and I don't think I've ever seen a Canadian wear non-satirical American themed stuff.
Anyway, I'm excited for you to catch the rest of us up on what happens. Since you seem to be the only one going, I'm dubbing you the current IDB ambassador for Canada.

or Vancouver!!!! Considering they're already finishing the tour on the west coast, it wouldn't be so bad just to drive up
Not that it matters to me because I stupidly moved a couple hours out of Toronto two years ago
Funnily enough I'm going in on the 6th of May, and would've loved to see the show, but I guess I'll just have to live vicariously through this forum rip

Yes! I remember looking at their tour schedule and thinking that if they had have planned it a bit better they could have easily worked in the tour city trinity by have the first TO show in Montreal instead and adding Vancouver to the end. That's why I think they either have no idea what they are doing or there's another reason.

So, is anyone from Montreal going?
I just can't quite commit to doing 12 hours on the train, even though decent tickets are still left and it feels like the opportunity won't come this way again anytime soon.

I seriously did consider it. I even considered if I had any Toronto friends that would let me sleep on their couch without asking me any questions about why I was in town.
Unfortunately, I had a 17 hour train in the opposite direction booked on that day long before they even announced their tour dates.
I wouldn't hold out for them doing any other dates in Canada, so if it's something you really want to see, I'd say it's worth it. Shows usually are, imo, since the travel sort of becomes part of the experience.
That being said, if they did announce more Canadian dates in the future and I had already trekked 6 hours to see them, I'd be slightly pissed.
