Yeah, food is definitely big with the Lesters. Half his tweets about his family are about them bringing him food/sweets, buying him food/sweets, sending him food/sweets, or him eating food/sweets while at their house.vincentian wrote:I agree, family discussion is a tricky territory. I feel like Dan also plays a bit into relatability to stereotypical teens here. As in many other instances, I wouldn’t take half of his somewhat "negative" family mentions seriously. The boy may be an open book sometimes, but I think not in this case.
edit: From what Phil says about his family one can conclude that good food is the major factor why he loves going home lol.
I think Phil is quite spoiled but not in a bad way, he's just very close to his mum and however feeds him(Dan).oqua wrote: Yeah, food is definitely big with the Lesters. Below I've compiled a collection of tweets I'm going to call, "Phil Is Maybe Slightly Spoiled." It's sort of hilarious. JUST LOOK AT HOW OFTEN HIS PARENTS FEED HIM CAKE.
This isn't a normal/northern thing then? When you're away you get packages every so often with things from home, or when you go home (or in my case nowadays, when the parents come home to visit!) they have to "feed you up" and buy all your fave treats. Not necessarily just food either... toiletries, all sorts of "home" stuff. It's BRILLIANT.oqua wrote:Yeah, food is definitely big with the Lesters. Someone on GG said that they were 18, I don't know if it's trueblueapple_x wrote:Now catching up on everything regarding the parent talk and it had me wondering....has Dan ever stated how old his parents were when they had him?
I always hear people say that his parents had him young but how young is "young"? Idk if it was a dream or not but I feel like I remember him saying around 23 but I could be wrong. Anybody know how old they were?

That's adorable, and no, I've never gotten a care package of any kind from home. I had a roommate in uni who was Northern and her mum constantly sent her things and it was the cutest. This isn't a normal/northern thing then? When Dan was born, his mother was 26 and his father was 31. I've never understood why he thinks that counts as "quite young."NarrysCanary wrote:Someone on GG said that they were 18, I don't know if it's trueblueapple_x wrote:Now catching up on everything regarding the parent talk and it had me wondering....has Dan ever stated how old his parents were when they had him?

That's not young at all, where do all the "Dan's parents had him young" rumours came from then ?oqua wrote: When Dan was born, his mother was 26 and his father was 31. I've never understood why he thinks that counts as "quite young."
These ones look way more appetizingIckleMissMayhem wrote:Sorry Philly, Grace has you beat on the donuts front...
Oh wow. From everything I heard about the whole Dan's parents thing, I expected his parents to be way younger than that. I don't think that's young at all.oqua wrote:When Dan was born, his mother was 26 and his father was 31. As someone who is both lactose intolerant and not a dessert person, just looking at all these tweets about cake is making me nauseous. Yes, I'm preparing to be judged.

Probably because in his Draw My Life, Dan says, "I had quite young parents, which was actually kind of cool, as my mum graduated in Philosophy and my dad was a DJ-slash-special-effects guy for films who used to sneak me onto move sets, which was pretty cool."NarrysCanary wrote:That's not young at all, where do all the "Dan's parents had him young" rumours came from then ?oqua wrote: When Dan was born, his mother was 26 and his father was 31. Thanks! Where did you get this info? Did Dan mention it in a liveshow/vyou? Idk where I got 23 from lol.oqua wrote:When Dan was born, his mother was 26 and his father was 31. I think we actually found his mum on the internet once.blueapple_x wrote: Thanks! Where did you get this info? Did Dan mention it in a liveshow/vyou? Idk where I got 23 from lol.
I remember something like that happening but I didn't know it had her age online. I guess his dad's age was also found in the same way?akui wrote:I think we actually found his mum on the internet once.blueapple_x wrote: Thanks! Where did you get this info? I went through both of their accounts and counted up how many times each of them uses the words “family,” “parents,” “mum/mother,” and “dad/father.” I counted manually to make sure that I only included references to their OWN family/parents, not any uses of the terms to talk about other people’s families or families in general.
Here are the final tallies. Draw your own conclusions I guess.
Phil
family: 35
parents: 85
mum: 86
dad: 25
mother: 2
father: 1
TOTAL: 234
Dan
family: 11
parents: 4
mum: 13
dad: 10
mother: 1
father: 2
TOTAL: 41
Translation: Dan lowkey hates his family. Please discuss.
Maybe, if they really haven't been very charitable, they're trying to save money for if their YT career gets less popular or dies out?Stakhanov wrote: On the topic of them not really engaging with charity causes and not talking much about the less fortunate, well.. they could be very charitable but private about it and i fear they still cling to the "i'm an entertainer so i have no controversial opinons" idea.
I think the broader fanbase should really try push them to do something for charity. Life has been generous to them, no harm in giving some back. and hey we might get some nice content with it
Lol, Stakhanov, thank you, I think.Stakhanov wrote:Not going to talk about their families because this has already gotten way to long but there's one thing i have to say to oqua There is no hope for you Your are the trash that gets thrown on the trash pile after thousands of subsaharan kids scoured it for anything useful.
