But! So many of the variables that probably played into the V-Day relationship(like just coming into fame, financial instability, privacy stuff) seem to be either gone or not as big of a concern as they were a few years ago that I honestly don't know how I feel they'd respond. Especially with this hypothetical second video being the second one, there's no real denying it, but then do they have a Big Serious Talk with us or just play it off as lol you all knew anyway.
I think there are things that everyone of YT keeps private and their peers respect. Look at Emma and Luke, I genuinely did NOT expect them to be together and then boom, they had been dating for years?! And there were photos of them kissing. YouTube has its secrets, and everyone is a secret keeper.
What is this hypothetical second video? I’ve seen it mentioned a few times but I can’t find any info because EVERYTHING is so focused on the v-day video.
edit: for gods sake. Of course this is at the top.

Which is smart, because skeptical people can interpret it as them making jokes or just commenting on aesthetics rather than physical attraction.
Wait, do you think they want 'skeptical' people to be able to brush off their attraction mentions as complete jokes? As in that's part of a strategy and not just something that happens outside of their intent(s)?

is the podcast talk the right time to bring back the "dan and phil investigate spooky sightings" idea?
Um it is always and forever the correct time for this, now if somebody (fullscreen? anyone? bueller?) could just throw some money at them for it, that'd be super swell.

They're making a very clear effort to make their attraction to men known, but in like baby steps. They could even do a twenty minute video talking about men's abs and some people might not even get the message until they say "I like men!". At the same time, deppy haven't exactly made it entirely clear what their individual sexualities are, they're just doing what they're comfortable with, and not stepping outside their comfort zones.
However, saffarinda is arguably correct in saying that being selective in what they say is smart for a wider audience, if you want to argue that they're doing what's comfortable and they don't want to put sexuality as a forefront to their identities. And I've seen people come here on IDB and argue that they believe that these mentions are just purely aesthetic based. As well as that, I've seen arguments that their discreet and quiet mentions are smart for these reasons. I don't get what's so bizarre about this. I definitely don't think deppy are actively trying to pull wool over the eyes of the casual fan, but it's pretty obvious how low key they are, anyway.

I agree with this! I don't think you can argue that either of them are straight, but especially not Dan. However the casual viewer still views them as two platonic (possibly straight) men.
Their selectivity is smart, because it allows them to say 'we're not straight' without saying it. If you're not looking for it and you don't particularly give a shit about sexuality (i.e. aren't homophobic) you're not going to notice it. I doubt they'll say anything about their relationships/sexuality; but it is looking more likely than it did before I took my hiatus (which for context, is from when they announced TABINOF to when Dan did his rebrand).

Basically this ^^ Dan and Phil attempt to make most things neutral, for the most part. This was the first year Dan pretty bluntly alluded towards who he was voting for and supporting, and whilst they do discuss many issues in liveshows, if you were a casual viewer just watching their main channel videos/gaming videos you could gain almost no information regarding political/social ideologies. They do make copious amounts of innuendos, but if the audience wants to, they could see it as just "lads" joking - all depends on the perspective they're looking at it from (still can't get over that image of pastel dan and phil with the comments from that guy who was asking if they were gay and was v confused oml ).
Ultimately, staying as neutral as possible allows for a wider potential audience. There are some opinions you can make known, as they're often widely accepted on the internet (disliking Trump, for example) but others (theism and atheism) are much more divided and can't be expressed without causing arguments and a divide. Sadly, some homophobes do watch Dan and Phil, so it's unsurprising that they aren't explicit with any homosexual tendancies that they may or may not have. If I wanted to be cynical, I could just say Youtube is still a job, and they just want to get enough views to rake in a good amount of money - whether that be from the teenage homosexual, or the student homophobe. I mean, it would be a great way of tricking someone - getting their views and adsense to contribute towards some queer guys livings.
Also lefthandedism I 100% agree, I couldn't see it either tbh! Along that thought path though, if they are in a relationship I wonder whether the Youtube Community knows... because I don't think they do. I doubt dnp would trust them in all honesty - people would love to spill that tea in a vid and grab those views.
Anyone heard of any other previously hidden youtube couples discussing whether they were open about their relationship with the community or not?

[offtopic]UK people - you know how BBC 3 currently have that documentary about the murder of Sophie Lancaster? (how was that 10 years ago?!) I googled her and went to the wikipedia page about her murder. Apparently she went to the same school as Phil, and because she was born in November 1986, she would have been in the same year as him.[/offtopic]

[offtopic]I keep meaning to watch it but I've other things that are further up my priority list (I got all 7 seasons of Buffy on box set last month for my birthday...). Yep thats her. I've followed her story since she was hospitalised and supported The Sophie Lancaster Foundation since it was founded (my mum is a massive supporter of them too). I just found it strange that they would have known of each other? Her story really upsets me, and for some reason having it connected with someone who genuinely makes me so happy makes it even sadder for me, she had so much life to live and she was killed because she was a goth?![/offtopic]

Catching up with Vidcon stuff rn, so Psychic!Phil strikes again, predicting Dan losing his passport. Tbh by now he is much more qualified to become a psychic than the psychic twins. Does anyone have a compilation of Psychic!Phil moments?

[offtopic]I've never heard of that. That's so horrible. Phil may have known her too, which makes it all the more chilling.
It reminds me of his friend who went missing and was found dead (Phil mentioned him in his Draw My Life for those who don't know what I'm talking about). I'm not gonna say his name, but death was so mysterious. Sad that it was never solved.
Also, on the top of disturbing things happening at deppy's old schools, at Dan's old school, one of the employees murdered his wife and left the body on school grounds. It happened in 2006, so I believe Dan would have been attending at the time.[/offtopic]

I was thinking about making a compilation ever since I watched the VidCon video, but I wasn't really sure how to go about it. A video would be nice, but wouldn't be as easy to update as a list would be. Maybe both?
EDIT: [offtopic]Wait, was that the best friend that died in uni? It's been a while since I watched his DML, but I don't remember him mentioning that detail at all. My heart dropped just reading that sentence.[/offtopic]

So like when can I start some spurious rumour-mongering that there's beef between PJ and D&P? Because 1. I'm bored 2. There's been no public interaction in a while (did PJ even wish Dan a hbd..?) I'm too lazy busy to do any fact-checking on anything but it feels like it's all been A While. So what's up with that? Some kind of bitter sock feud? Unresolved sexual tension come to a head? Maybe by putting this out into the universe I'll be proven wrong and we'll get Twister 2 by the end of the weekend

[offtopic]Indeed it does. Her death is still pretty 'big' (for want of a better word) in Manchester. Afflecks are pretty vocal in supporting the charity and GMP are the only force in the UK that recognise alterophobia as a hate crime. I wouldn't be surprised if they had been friends/friendly.
I had no idea he died in suspicious circumstances! I always assumed he died of an aneurism or something equally sudden. Jesus, poor Phil. That would mess you up pretty badly.
WHAT?! Dan would have been in Year 11 (I think, he's almost exactly 4 years older than me) when that happened. What the actual fuck. I feel like my high school was decidedly less dramatic, the most controversial we had was a teacher who moonlighted as a guitarist in a polka band.[/offtopic]

Fun as that would be, I don't think it's too likely.
PJ did not wish Dan Happy Birthday on Twitter, but he also tweeted that day that he was getting up at 6 am and flying to the US, so maybe he just didn't get a chance to.
Their last online interaction was relatively recent
(if you don't count that, he also retweeted Dan's election tweet on May the 21st)
So if there had been an argument, it would have to have been as recent as June. And their lack of interaction online in June could just be explained by all the projects that PJ has said he has going on atm.
(also yes please I need Twister 2.)

Well okay, I submit my other theory then: PJ murdered crabstickz. There, I said it. D&P helped hide the body and that's why they're keeping low profiles with each other. Problematic favs. But we can all still look forward to the FF reunion, just with a more Weekend at Bernie's kind of vibe, I personally can't wait. Twister especially will be a sight to behold.

Idk I heard it from a reputable source that I can't name because it's a big secret and definitely not because I'm making this up as I type it, but yeah Phil put a stop to Dan and PJ spending time together in real life because he was too threatened by the sexual tension between Dan and PJ. :/ He's afraid the power of Dan's hair being curly now plus that dimple are too much for PJ's heterosexuality to withstand. It's causing a big rift between them. So sad.

Sounds plausible to me. I doubt very many people could withstand the curls, heterosexual or not... and I always suspected that Phil has a jealous streak. I would read the heck out of this as a fic. Dizzy or other talented person please to write?
