That was so enjoyable to watch!! I'm gonna have to sue them though as they are the sole reason I still haven't started my 2000 word politics essay that's due tomorrow, but damn I loved that. Loved how supportive Dan was being, he was in such a chirpy, positive mood and it was really lovely. Loved the little throwbacks to the first Mario Kart video and them talking about how they have so many inside jokes that they lose track of what each one actually refers to. Loved Phil trying to cover up the fact that he definitely said 'bitch' and not 'bish' lmao. Frustrating that it lagged so much during Phil's turn, but at least the sound still worked and overall it had such a pleasant, chill vibe to it, I definitely hope they do it again soon.

Agree that it's strange they moved partly in search of better internet, only for the internet at this apartment to be so bad. But of course, clearly they don't care so much as they're obviously about to move into their newly renovated forever home which has super fast internet speeds.

I watched about two-thirds of the livestream before the lag started eating away at my nonexistent attention span. What I did watch was really cute though! I loved Supportive Bf!Dan's return
The more I see of their new(ish) house the more unfit it seems to be for them tbh. They're still renting and the internet still appears to be less than stellar, which is things that they complained about with the last apartment. It's almost as if this is just a very temporary home [insert tinfoil hat emoticon]. Tbh I'm grasping onto every single thing pointing toward them moving into a forever home but whatever.

I will say about the internet nearly every british gaming youtuber complains about how bad the internet in London is. I don't think its just a ruse, or that paying higher prices would matter. Nerd3 moved to a different country for better internet lol.

The live play was enjoyable, but holy hell was it laggy. I think they can dial in the settings better, and use a standalone mic and not the built-in one (and adjust the levels WAY down) and there's no reason to be recording 1080p @60fps—that's probably what's eating up all their bandwidth.

And as others have said, their low internet speed issue does not pass the smell test... they're just not tech-savvy enough to work through it. 5mbps is hardly broadband—their issue is probably WIFI congestion (being London and in an apartment complex of some sort) and if their router is on one level but the gaming room in on another then that doesn't help either. If they can't figure it out, then they should get the Geek Squad or someone in there to help... for god sakes the internet is their livelihood, I refuse to believe tethering to a cellphone is the only option. I'm not sold on the moving to #ForeverHome right away, but if they knowingly rented an apartment with crap internet, then I'd be more inclined as ever to believe this is only a temp situation.

I listened to the video a bit and I am pretty sure they can fix the two issues for next time.

If their internet can't handle it, 1080p60 is definitely too much. It's not even a streaming standard yet; a lot of streams are still 720p30 so they could go for that without being called out for bad quality. Alternatively 720p60 or 1080p30.

Secondly, Dan said they are using the webcam microphone, which is likely terrible. Either they check if they had boosts on in Windows or OBS (which caused the gain effect) or they invest a hundred bucks into a usb mic.

A game suggestion that could be fun with subscribers that Markiplier does frequently in his charity LSs is JackBox. Maybe that would be something? Also more chance for both to bant since it's not reaction time based.

Ditto what everyone else has said about it seemed Dan had decided beforehand to appear supportive and not aggressively competitive (thank GOD, more pleasant as a viewer); it was interesting to see, however minor, his slightly sensitive side come out at 22.05 and 35.45 in response to Phil. shows the contrast between his sensitivity to tone and intent and (what i think) is the over-compensating he does as a result of that, to the opposite extreme.

lotta innuendo in this one which they seemed completely comfortable about, live. i side-eyed 'sweaty nights' and 'that's something we'd edit out if this wasn't live...'. moooree give us more.

I missed commenting here on the Edinburgh panel, but i haven't enjoy something they've done that much in years. it should be mandatory viewing, in my opinion. so much intelligent insight into how they feel about their own journey, and the landscape broadly, and reminds you they're both accomplished and confident live speakers with thoughtful things to say. Their ability to speak at these sorts of things, and even challenge someone like Sue Perkins a little on her perspective (i literally cheered at Dan at that part) sets them apart and distinguishes them within that first generation of youtubers. it was really satisfying to watch them excel in the professional context, and that not be at odds at all with their introverted lifestyle and choices, social anxiety (dan). that feels like a point that often gets lost in the bigger conversation around the sincerity of their branding.

You know, I'm not completely sold on these moving theories, but that's what I thought, too, in relation to Phil's bruises. Maybe not furniture, but some heavy boxes, maybe not even for them, but for the IRL or something, I don't know. But it's the most plausible explanation for me. I'm as clumsy as they come and usually covered in bruises from bumping against furniture, but two big ones like this at the same time in different places? Only if I was drinking and don't remember what happened (doubt that would happen to Phil nowadays), or if I was moving something heavy.

Loved the stream, the lag was making it a bit stressful to watch because I was afraid it would disconnect at any moment, but didn't mind it so much otherwise. They have to do something about it before next time, though (but I believe in them)

Been ages since I posted but just wanted to say that I loved both the Edinburgh panel and last nights livestream. It's nice to see them more comfortable, I know they both seemed a little bit on guard at the panel but that's completely understandable. Yesterday's gaming was so relaxing but entertaining as well, I thought Dan was not overly annoying as he usually is with the gaming. Also, I feel like Phil really shone through and they had a good balance between them - felt more like a partnership because Dan wasn't so competitive. I will have to watch the bit about the bruise later, it got so laggy 3/4 of the way through so I gave up.

[Offtopic]Really really off topic, but I was reading Dodie's GG today and it was about SitC, they said that Dan and Phil are banned because Tom doesn't like them? This exactly. I mean even /Pewdiepie/ is doing all of his livestreams in 480p to avoid the lag, I'm sure if he can afford to reduce the quality like this, deppy's audience could handle 720p30 if it meant the lag issue would be resolved!

[Offtopic]This is just something I suspect, but I was at the last SiTC that had a Dan&Phil panel and things got really out of control with the queues for the panel, to the point where security had to intervene and some people were even hurt in the crowd. This is mostly thanks to bad organization and not specifying the rules on how/where to make queues, but of course some fans are to blame as well for not respecting the volunteers...

I remember that after the panel there were tweets from some fans and SiTC volunteers saying that Dan & Phil better not do any more panels at SiTC because of the chaos their fans caused, so this might be the reason.[/Offtopic]

Like they're not in a place you'd naturally get a bruise from a fall. He's clumsy yeah but I'd expect him to have bruises on his calves/forearms more than anywhere else on his body. The one of his thigh makes sense that he could have been balancing something very heavy on his leg etc. But the one on his arm? Weird. If he'd been carrying something heavy I'd expect bruising to be on the inside of his forearms, surely.

In yesterday's live stream (which was lovely, by the way) Dan wanted Phil to talk about how he got the bruise, so a part of me knows it can't have been caused by anything shady. But on the other hand, when they moved to London in 2012 Phil ended up covered in bruises, and I can't help but see some similarities (especially regarding the bruise in his arm). Granted, one can get bruises from a wide range of activities, but this, combined with the slow internet connection (one of the reasons they gave for moving out from the last place) have me wondering if they are (kinda) not living there anymore (as in, in the process of moving).

Thanks alittledizzy and mermaid blood for the timestamps, there were so many little moments I missed with it moving so fast. Really liked how light-hearted the whole thing was. [39:55] I live for their Outhere Brothers references. This time Phil follows it up with Vengaboys, Dan hums rather than words the next line lol. '90s school disco tastic.

NSFW music refs - Yep, I've got one foot on the moving train - Dan admits to the seeds he planted last time around, seems like he's doing a very similar thing again. I hope it was in the plans for them, would suck if it's just not working out as they hoped and they have to go through the stresses of moving again. Not fun.

the two things that confuse me are -

a) why didn't Dan say 'but we're getting it fixed! cause it isn't good enough' when stating the wifi is bad? their main income is...online. moving from the previous flat because of bad wifi was given as one of the reasons.

b) the sweaty nights comment - do they not have air conditioning in this flat, too? was this a reason given in the moving out video? even if it wasn't...that flat doesn't seem a huge step up if they had adequate time to search and choose this one. if it's an environmental concern (valid), then don't use the clothes dryer either that you've mentioned you have.

c) when Phil refused (twice) to give the reason he had bruises, was he refusing to tell a lie they agreed upon beforehand, or refusing to tell the truth? because it's one or the other.

if their lie was a half-lie, like he got them moving a new piece of furniture (true, but where to/from?), it's possible Phil got cold feet at the last moment even saying that. it was suspicious nonetheless and Dan seemed surprised at Phil, too.
susan2 i agree i hope it's voluntary. if they're *not* moving, i actually feel sorry for them, because they're paying money (probably a good amount) to live somewhere that doesn't have the very basics of what they need.

And it was a really good teaser in that case. Loved Dan’s conspiracy shade.

I hope they sort out the lagging issues. I really liked the live stream, but the lag was really annoying and I’m not sure I would watch on a regular basis if they don’t sort that out. If the wifi is bad, buy a LAN cable. However, the issue might be that even though their ISP might provide a decent downlink the uplink is usually much slower. Hopefully, they just went into this first live stream to test everything out and to see what they could get away with and things will be better next time.

I’m on fence about them moving soon. Wouldn’t be surprised though. There seems to be similarities with their last move, but we’re also talking about two major trolls here.

Don’t know I feel about a slime video, but I like the tweet and that he’s sort of seeking support to do something he wants to even do it’s old news.

Edit: Mermaid blood, I've been thinking about the air con too and perhaps they don't have it all rooms. Like only in the more open areas, is that a thing?

I'm fully on the moving train but i think this is a more likely explanation.

If he got the bruises from moving boxes/furniture i don't think Dan wouldn't have egged him on to tell the story (even with dropping hints, that would be too straight forward).
I think the whole exchange between them might have been to build curiosity for the story, especially linking "conspiracy theory" to it, because there is going to be a video about it. (of course, that doesn't exclude the possibility of that video being a Moving Out 2.0 video)

I'm glad that I can finally give you all some good news - we've fully migrated to our new host, and the board has been updated to the newest version of phpBB, which brings some nifty new features like the ability to jump back to the original post when it's quoted in another post, as well as the forum theme being responsive, which means that it will automatically adapt to different devices {so no more squinting at your phone screen when reading IDB}.

You might, however, have also noticed an uptick in the amount of spam posts over the last couple of days. At the moment, we don't have the all of the usual spam prevention measures in place so they're slipping through. We'd really appreciate if you would report any spam posts that you see, and remember not to click on any link that looks even mildly suspicious to you. We hope to have our full spam prevention measures back in place soon.

There are also small issues with links to the forum not working, especially in both the Forum FAQs and Dan & Phil FAQs. I'm working on updating them all, and hope to have them sorted as soon as possible.

Finally, we're working on restoring the previous custom themes, as well as our other custom features. This is a little difficult because of the software upgrade - the previous forum styles that the old custom themes were based on are not compatible with phpBB 3.2, so we're working on workarounds for that.

More updates will follow as soon as we've managed to get things working fully again, and in the meantime if you have any questions or concerns please do let me or another mod know. Thank you once more for your patience.
