anyone notice they used the blindfolded-cat-face-game music when they were showing all of the animals and naming them off? not sure if anyone has mentioned it already, but for some reason it just stood out to me. it was cute.

It was more subtle this time, but they do use that music quite a bit. They probably don’t have the same specific association with it that we do, but it sure does make me soft every time I hear it.
The game was fun. And I’ve gotta say, while the devolution of “Dan vs Phil” was getting tiring, I love the recent spins on it in the drumming video and then today with the animals clashing.
I didn’t get to watch the ls yesterday but I watched back today. It was nice, I’m loving these weekly jointshows. Very clever to set up their takeaway order to coincide with the end of the show. Perfect excuse to jet out of there.
Speaking of jetting out, any chance that Fanta story was at an airport? The brown leather and darker wood flooring has me thrown (oops, no it’s wood table).
It was really nice to watch a stream of the ii movie today. Just what I needed while feeling super crampy.

It's really sad how messy this launch has been, but I'm fairly sure it was out of deppy's hands. They've multiple times talked about how annoying it is when things aren't released everywhere at the same time and for everyone to enjoy as simultaneous as possible. They also themselves seem to be pretty confused about what is available where and when, which makes me think that they weren't in charge.
There's a bit of a problem here, when Dan and Phil are the ones responsible for the communication, but without proper support from the people in charge. With their usual videos they have full control over everything, they would know every detail and be able to communicate that in a decent way. If it was a regular tv-show or movie produced and released by a big company (like the BBC), the company would have a marketing team in charge of communication, with a communication plan. It wouldn't be up to the actors/directors/producers to communicate launch details to the audience. Now I think they are stuck somewhere in the middle where they are the faces of the product and in charge of communication, without the full support of a marketing team from the BBC. We saw this as well when the show in Manila was cancelled, a lot of different information was floating around and people didn't know what was going on, because there wasn't any official source of information other than Dan and Phil's twitter, which isn't a great way to reach out to everyone effected.

I contacted Apple / iTunes about the Director's Commentary. Basically asking if (as part of the Series Pass) the Director's Commentary will be made available at a later date? / or if not how I go about requesting a refund...
So, that
sounds like it's being released at a later date.

When? Why? Who knows.

That’s a generic reply from Apple that if it’s released, it’ll be available, they actually have no idea.

Oh well, thanks. I've requested a refund anyway.
(Though, in fairness, not sure if that'll be possible as it wasn't Apple who said it was included in the first place - I can but ask

).

(sorry for double posting...and going on about this!)
But just incase it helps anyone else - the
(very kind and helpful
) BBC confirmed to me that the iTunes digital release doesn’t include the Director’s Commentary - the reason being they said is that the format doesn’t support multiple soundtracks.
So there we go - good to have a clear answer on it (even if it wasn’t the one I’d hoped for).

Well, that's interesting, I wonder why Deps (maybe just Dan?) got the info wrong. Apple gives you a week or two to claim a refund, I think, I'm not sure about the others.

Everyone, there's hopes of a sequel to this game, as there's loads of add-ons for it

Well that's really sad. I'm assuming amazon will have the same thing? Guess I gotta order myself a dvd that I have no idea when it'll arrive or how I'll watch it since that's the only thing I really care about :/

I wonder if they can sell that separately? That could also mean more money.

Thank you,
@susan2, for asking the BBC for us! I was wondering about that too.
@George, I don't think they can? The commentary usually runs on a separate soundtrack from the main one, so the format must support dual track. To release the digital movie with commentary added in, they would need to go back to production and remix the sound as a single track which might not be worth it. I guess?

I really agree with this. I think it must frustrate Dan and Phil to no end, to have the screaming horde (justified or not) demanding answers from them and for them in turn to have little ability to 'demand' anything from the people who actually have answers. They sold the show to the BBC to have it distributed; what is distributed how and when is not in Dan and Phil's control at all anymore. You're exactly right that in a more mainstream media based situation, it wouldn't be on Dan and Phil to play announcer and middleman at the same time. There would be official channels for that from within the BBC.
It's the same with the Mexico show, too; it seems like BBC agreed to a premiere event and gave Dan and Phil the freedom to choose where, but that freedom only extended a certain amount. Dan and Phil have no recourse to 'make it happen anyway' when the BBC is footing the bill and making all the arrangements.
I feel like at some point they were told commentary on the digital release could happen and maybe it just wasn't communicated well to them when things on their wishlist got denied. I can't figure out if they're ignoring it because they have no good answer besides "We fucked up, we said the wrong thing." or because they're trying to figure out some alternate way of making people happy, or they just don't want to give more wrong information.

I’m guessing right now they’re quiet as they’re travelling, they haven’t had a lot of time yet and might be talking to people behind the scenes before they say anything. This sort of mixup in communication again would be driving me nuts if I were them, I was glad to leave my last job where people took forever and didn’t read properly.

I'm not sure I buy that iTunes explanation as I have another movie with commentary. Would it make a difference if it's a movie versus TV show? If so why wouldn't it have been released as a movie? Lots of movies also come with extras. I don't need the tour trailers as extras?
Damn it now I need to find out about if it'll be on Amazon or Google play so I can get a refund on iTunes.

Honestly the whole thing is kinda annoying. It's obvious that this is mostly on the BBC since they're distributing it but it is on Dan and Phil to make sure what they say it's delivered will be delivered because it has their names, their faces and they've been selling it. They have the premiere tomorrow so obviously that's where their focus is but even just a tweet to say "sorry there's been a mistake" would be enough for me, the thing that I don't enjoy is not being sure of exactly what i'm buying. That is never okay.
To be clear, if the commentary was supposed to be on the DVD only since the beginning I wouldn't have minded as much - I would've grumbled because again, they're shipping from Dec 10th which is a nightmare with postage, and not everyone has a dvd player, but I understand physical copies= more expensive to produce, needs extras to justify the price. That's fair. I'm just upset that it wasn't clear from the start.
And that's besides the fact that it's not out globally which makes me

but i'm not even surprised because the rest of the world always has to wait sigh

Hey @susan2 thanks so much for sharing that info on the digital release. How did you find the right folks to contact at the BBC?
I wasn't going to request an iTunes return initially, but if the only way to get the commentary is to purchase the physical DVD then just the shipping is about the price of the digital download, so I might as well. (Shipping costs, man, I just can't. Charge me $10 more for the DVD and give me free shipping, I'm more likely to buy it.)
@lilabet The iTunes 'extras' feature only seems to be available on movies. I don't know why II was sold as a TV show series though.
@noodlebum Are those expansion packs $20 for one animal? Crazy! At least Dan and Phil can afford it. I hope they play the game more. It seems custom made for them. Jenga and breeding animals together to create stranger animals. Their favorite things.

THAT. i'm really really bothered by that because they said multiples times that EVERYONE could get it, which is not true. and it really pisses me off.

If it works like the TATINOF audiobook did, then it'll hit more international stories eventually. I remember people being upset over the same thing - it wasn't available everywhere at once and no one could give anyone any answers as to rhyme or reason behind what country got it when.

i really hope it's gonna be the same way then! i woudn't have complained if they hadn't said anything but because of them saying "globally available multiple times" i guess i really got my hopes up
