It's possible they won't manage it since the video is the ultimate spoiler, but Dan did say they're still trying. Seems they've already got the book ready enough that Australia won't be pictured in it so I wouldn't say the book release means definitely no Europe (though who knows, maybe they have their publishers on standby for a final burst of photos to fit it in). The book's got to hit Christmas, though, if they do Europe early next year, they've missed the boat this year and next (unless they did Asia and South America as well and could spread it out until next autumn, but that's just pie in the sky). I'd been expecting it to continue to at least Europe, it'd be a shame if this is the last and people hoping for Europe don't even know yet.visiblelurker wrote:Also slightly off topic, but based on Dan saying that the documentary and show will be out a week or two before the book, ie November 3, is anyone else thinking that there won't be a European tour?

I do hope they go to Europe! I've seen speculation that Australia will be it because of the YTR stuff, but I'm still hoping that they manage to make at least a few more stops. I would feel so bad for everyone if after the AUS leg they announce that was it.flarequake wrote:It's possible they won't manage it since the video is the ultimate spoiler, but Dan did say they're still trying. He said a couple of weeks-a month. Although I am now re-doing basic calculations in my head and there is a little more time than I thought.(good job me) How long before the US and AUS tours did they announce the dates though?
I knew this username was a good choicefancybum wrote: timtam congrats

I was hoping they'd do domestic flights because a) i hate #busgate b) Australia is huge. However they have 4 days between the Perth and Adelaide shows. The flight from Perth to Adelaide only takes a couple of hours and unless they plan on doing some touristy things I don't see why they would have done that? They haven't allowed that much time for Melbourne and Sydney which in my opinion are far more interesting cities than Adelaide (don't wanna offend any Adelaidians here but its true). It makes much more sense that they allowed that much time because they have to drive there. It takes about 23 hours of straight driving to get from Perth to Adelaide and there is absolutely nothing to look at. I think there's a section where there is only one rest stop for over 10 hours of driving. I mean it's also long driving Melbourne to Sydney. It takes nearly 9 hours and the Hume Highway is boring af. I personally think they would be stupid to drive everywhere but they drove everywhere in the US so maybe they are used to it.fancybum wrote:I hope they're travelling exclusively by plane for this leg and that #busgate can finally fucking die. Frankly I hope we don't even get a glimpse inside of the buses in the documentary and nobody gets any answers and have no choice but to let it go. It's meaningless.bluebox-away wrote: Looking forward to a new round of #busgate type action to keep us going through this next little drought, although I wonder if they might get domestic flights instead? Cause Australia is fucking huge to drive across I did a 15 hour overnight greyhound down the east coast this summer and seriously never again

I hardly ever comment, but rest assured I read every single post. I am a professional lurker.
They could be out and about in AUS right now (it's the middle of the day there), but instead they're sitting in their hotel room watching the Olympicsmrrobot wrote:I can't believe dan took his time to tweet that about brazil lol

I got this on notify because I also follow The Fader:
A really in-depth and interesting article about Branden Miller/Joanne the Scammer and the intricate quasi-double life Branden leads as a result of Joanne, his online persona, being so popular.
Interesting quotes by Branden in the article:
"I play a character that lets me do whatever I want. It's the one time I can kind of be free."
"I have to be funny at all times. If I say something not funny, the one thing -- they don't give me a second chance. I'm cancelled."
I think it's no surprise that Dan liked this so much, it's a thoughtful, insightful, and at times pretty scary look at being a real person and an internet persona at the same time. It's a good read.

Not to mention some insight into sexuality and being comfortably gay, but not necessarily flamboyant...achika wrote:I got this on notify because I also follow The Fader:

"Branden tells me he’s comfortable in his own skin, but online and in person he does things that suggest he still struggles. “When you ask me if I’m gay, I say yes,” he says. “Do I flaunt it? No.” [...] “I was raised a certain way,” he says. “I never kiss my boyfriend in front of my mother. I never hold his hand. She knows we date, and she knows I love him, but I never do that in front of nobody, actually."

i want to add one quote:
*talking about the florida shooting* “To me, that is personal,” he says. “I don’t want my Twitter to be personal. I like to detach myself 100 percent.”
and also the complete paragraph from that first thing you quoted:
For Branden, masquerading as someone he’s not provides a way to cope with — or maybe just circumvent — his feelings about his own identity. “It wasn’t my strategy, but it just so happens I play a character that allows me to do whatever I want,” he tells me. “It’s the one time I can kind of be free.”
personally i don't think the sexuality stuff has any relevance in this case, branden's experience seems 100% different to what we know about dan's, i don't think that's what he took out of this article and the reason he gave it a shout out, so i don't see the point in analising that

Okay I need to complain, I hate the angle of the photo.
It's really hard to see his hair from this angle.
I demand a better angle and more pics.
