Dan and Phil have seemed very focused on the DVD releases—I had no idea the digital release was earlier than the DVD until this week, and the information on the digital releases is so scarce one of the first reviews on the US iTunes was a negative review from someone wondering if they’d just paid $10 for two tour trailers. Google Play isn’t even linked to from the II website, and neither is the digital Amazon version.
I’m also wondering if the closed captioning on the digital release might be different from the DVDs. I definitely remember an IG story of dnp looking over the closed caption text, but on the digital release when Phil is supposed to say
the reason I’m here “is people ship phan” in his rap
the CC actually says “the reason I’m here his people shit ban.” which makes me feel like dnp/someone familiar with the phandom didn’t go over the captions.
It’s always possible the commentary and the release in countries besides the US/UK/Canada will happen in the future if dnp or their BBC producers are made aware of the problem, but probably not while they’re traveling to and from Brazil.
Silver lining: no one who bought the DVD will get spoiled for the commentary.

Um
I don't know if this is allowed (if not mods pls delete this and sorry!), but there's a very kind person streaming it continuously on Rabbit today for the next few hours. I finished watching it like 30 mins ago? including the deleted scene. {link removed - jesp}
Opinions: I liked the show fine, however strangely the deleted scene without audience was probably my fave part because it felt more natural, real, and like there was actual direct communication with us viewers. The edit of the show was weird. Made it look a bit... cold imo, mainly at the beginning. Maybe the audience sound was edited too silent? The first few shots looked like dnp were alone on a stage and the audience was in a different room, idk.
I know they're very rehearsed and they don't like to improv a lot of the show, and I'm very proud of them, but I wasn't crazy blown away by the end product, to be fully honest. I feel like they recite too much at the audience, and especially when the script talks about wanting to connect as people, it's a bit jarring whilst they speak fast and don't even leave enough time to register the actual reaction happening in real time before discussing it, like a beat they need to hit instead of being in the moment 100%.
Ah, I don't want to be negative though!
I loved the event, the atmosphere, I love that they're doing these things, just as an objective show I think the premise took too long to be established and was not that clear. Some bits could've been trimmed. I think it needed more time to be developed/written and they needed more stage direction to really engage and be present, especially in certain moments. My beautiful Phil rushed that diss track like a motherfucker, audios from other shows were a lot better, I felt so bad Still I'm of course very happy for them, and I can't wait to see them at the premiere looking like the hot yt power couple they are. Big love for the boys today, even if the release has been odd and I couldn't get it in my country lol
edit to add that I forgot about the commentary, I think I'm going to love that a lot more than the show itself, can't bloody wait

An ORIGINAL game on DAPG that isn't shitty flash, shitty app or based on Google answers?
Yes please.
Actually considering buying this game as a Christmas present now. It seems fun! Though I kind of expected the stacked animals to light up like the Tetris lamp-

"you're my plinth of life"
also, land and sea were a perfect description of dnp but they didn't even read it smh :–/
i really liked this vid! the game looks interesting. the end where phil was poking dan's face with the shark made my heart dance, it looked like he was giving him little shark smooches

maaaan just as the drumming game this one looks so much fun and i'd love to play it, but just as with the drumming game i'm never going to make this investment. additionally, i'm actually tempted to buy that hat now. dan and phil, back at being pros at making me want to spend money lmao
in the beginning, i had actual trouble imagining how the hell this game was going to work and how the ipad would fit in, but all in all it was a fun video! i'll never forget what noise phil would make if he had an electrode inside his butt and it was pressed against the plinth -- thanks, phil.

That video looks really fun but I'd love to see even more animals and a bigger platform omg The phlint of life moment, said with the fondest fuckinng voice? Phil confirming once again to be my man for loving tentacles and validating me? Kings of my life they didn't give me the commentary today but gave me a video alas I'll be satisfied until tomorrow

Well it took me like half the video to understand the game, so I'm glad they tried to explain it lol. Notable moments include:
- Referencing the kayak eating bear again
- "You are my plinth of life" do you mind?
- Dan vs Phil have evolved to weird animal noises now
- "I'll keep [my hands] to my self"
- Phil explaining his noise with having electrodes in his butt...
- Shout out Jenna Marbles
- Dan being SO STRESSED when he has to put everything together again and fails miserably
- Dans weird dancing to show off his pyjamas
Phil was in his element today, he totally stole the show. The game seems really fun too!

This is going to go up there as one of my favourite gaming channel games of 2018, just saying.
I loved it, and now I want to buy it, what a fun game. Also, sorry to say but Dan looked hot af in that beanie and the shaved sides have made a comeback
Will watch at least 100x

What was Phil referencing at 12:00 with the little ‘philly’s shark’ tune?
Dan telling Phil he's the plinth of his life in the fondest voice ever and then making a joke out of it is Peak Dan Behaviour and I've never related to him more.

I'm like 5 seconds into the new video but Dan saying BEAST reminded me of Alyssa Edwards and it made me chuckle.

That was fun especially Dan nearly fixing the pile. I love the shapes of the animals and how awkward they are to balance. Dan looks lovely in that hat and the pyjamas look so cute on him. I thought I’d have more to say, but apparently I’m that tired, I’ve forgotten it already
the "baby shark" reference killed me, years of summer camps and counseling *shudder*
and more recently, my roommate, who never stops singing this

The video was cute!! The game is a bit weird, but it's a fun combination of a real game and an app. And of course "you're my plinth of life" - what an iconic quote, even if Dan took it back immediately, we all know which one sounded genuine.
Now...
I'm really surprised about the lack of information from them in regards to the digital release. They might already be on the way to Brazil, right? Could that be one of the reasons?
Hmm. I personally don't mind the digital release as I already paid for my physical copy, but I can totally get why people are upset. I feel like this is one of those things dnp should comment on and clarify what they meant, since they never truly made it clear. Also the staggered? release sucks. It's not available in my country, and I don't think people should frantically search for ways to get around it in order to buy it.
In situations such as this I tend to think something went wrong/they weren't fully informed and it's not only their fault exactly, but they do have to clarify this. I feel like there have been so many things like that in regards to this tour and it's stressful both for us and for them.

I love the new video! And I agree with others that the game looks like a ton of fun (although I think I would want more beasts to stack). Here are my highlights:
The first thing I noticed was that this video looks different than other gaming videos in a variety of ways. The framing is different, the colors are different, there’s obviously that white desk/table in the shot, and the background is in focus. I wonder if they had to change lenses/cameras for this video.
[0:25] Phil says that “uggs” is Northern slang for “ears,” and Dan thinks that Phil is lying. I have not been able to confirm whether Phil's version is also correct, but my research does indicate that “lugs” appears to be a slang word for “ears” in Northern England and Scotland.
[0:55] Dan gives a kick with an associated “Bam!” to show off the DanAndPhilGAMES pajama bottoms, and I have to say that I think it was a very effective way to advertise this particular item of merch.
D: Turn on the Plinth of Life.
P: Switch him on.
D: You’re my Plinth of Life.
P: Thanks.
D: Just kidding. You don’t give me life. You drain it.
[3:25] The announcement of a Dan vs. Phil continues to devolve into utter nonsense. This might be my favorite one yet.
[4:35] Does Dan often have to tell Phil to keep his hands to himself? That's the only reason I can think of to explain why that was immediately where Phil's mind went...
D: Phil, keep your hands still.
P: I’ll keep them to myself.
D: No having f--Well, firstly--
P: You know what I mean.
D: Firstly, keep 'em to yourself.
P: Alright.
D: Secondly, keep ‘em steady, man.
[4:54] Remember when Dan said that Phil was his Plinth of Life? That really gives this quote a whole new meaning, doesn't it?
P: Yeah, you have to press their butt against the thing.
D: Watch this. Watch this. I tap it to the plinth.
P: Ooh.
D: Ea--
P: Sorry.
D: What--
P: I’m taking it seriously.
D: No no no no no. No, I want you to explain what that noise was.
P: I just imagine if I had an electrode in my butt and it got pressed against a plinth, it might feel a bit weird.
D: There’s only one way to find out.
[6:13] Phil says that something you can do in the game is breed the animals, and he starts rubbing the bear and octopus together as Dan’s old sexy-end-screen-dance music plays very softly in the background. Dan objects to the octopus being bred, but everything else was fine by him.
[8:14] Phil tries to stack the warthog without tapping it to the plinth first, and the volcano god gets angry. Then Dan quips:
D: That’s me when I haven’t eaten for ten minutes.
[9:08] In response to Dan stealing Phil’s warthog, Phil calls Dan “biatch.”
[10:09] I never thought there'd come a day when Dan would describe an ass as "fabulous," but here we are.
D: Look at its fabulous feathery ass. It was meant to be in the sky.
D: I don’t know what the hell you did with that octopus.
P: Well--
D: You--You fully Leaning Tower of Pisa’d me there.
P: Me and something with tentacles: We just connected in a way that I didn’t think we would.
D: And with that one utterance, Phil ruined the genre--
P: Look.
D: --of Jenga and world religion at the same time. Okay.
[12:41] As he said the quote below, Dan danced his leg around a bit. Much like the kick earlier, I think this was a highly effective way to market the pajama bottoms.
D: Funeral up top, party from the waist down.
There are three links that point to danandphilshop.com in the video description, but I’m okay with this as long as the combined festive shop is in place (and the other shops haven't been updated with the new merch).

I know this was my sole hot take from after watching the video earlier but I do just wanna come back to it. This is such a halfway point between a genuine compliment and their pull-back reaction. I think Phil didn't know quite what to do with his face there - he was grimacing like it was Dan insulting him before Dan even got the thought out, like he was just prepared for a joke automatically. And Dan almost seem to add the joke... not as an afterthought exactly but just as a sudden realized of how it sounded. Maybe he did mean for his tone to be more sarcastic from the offset - but it just wasn't. I'm gonna end up rewatching that moment to pick apart so many times.

Phil's turn of a hilarious more-obvious misspeak; he thought Dan was going to tell him to keep his hands to himself, clearly, and them stumbling over their words to respond to what each other meant is so funny. But because it's Phil with the misunderstanding/misspeak and not Dan, Dan has no problem being cute with the "Firstly, keep 'em to yourself." part.
