This!! I thought that Dan was joking at first, but when neither of them said anything about it I was genuinely surprised? Like, come on guys, have neither of you ever watched your own videos?

Besides that, what a cute video! I loved how indecisive Phil was, I can really relate to that, and how fondly annoyed Dan was at Phil trying to proof that he can, in fact, find things (and failing).
I'm kind of surprised they didn't do the Patronus test as well, but maybe that video would have been too long? I really hope there'll be more Pottermore videos in the future!

But oh my god wasn't that hilarious Them roasting each other is always A+ content and sassy Lester is truly the highlight of these otherwise bleak weeks. (Now I need them to play some rat-themed games just to see that sass) Phil being Hufflepuff is thoroughly predictable not only from his previous comments but also the answers he chose? They're so Hufflepuff-ish. Dan being a Gryffindor is a surprise though. I wholeheartedly support his saltiness since I'm still salty over being re-sorted to Ravenclaw after years of being a Slytherin. That Slytherin pride just doesn't rub off that soon.

I'm not on team more Pottermore-themed games, Patronus/wand/etc since while the bants are the actual quizzes just aren't solid enough of a content...? Very little gameplay going on and all that.

I just gotta say, Dan’s mumbled comment about Phil’s nostrils looking like snake slits from the front had me rolling. I can’t think of anyone in my life whose nostrils I’ve had any particular thoughts on. You would have to have particularly large, or small, or hairy or like, glowing nostrils for me to pay any attention to them. Trust Dan to know Phil’s features so well. (Also, Phil just staring at him blankly the whole time made me wonder if he was actually a little offended, his expression reminded me of the spoiled milk comment, which I don’t think he appreciated)

I was actually at the dentist today when we got the first snow here soo funny coincidence. I didn't enjoy driving home tho

I really enjoyed the video even though I'm not a bit Harry Potter fan. I used to be obsessed with it when I was younger but I haven't watched a HP movie in at least 5 years. I retook the test and got Hufflepuff again. I'm glad Phil got Hufflepuff again because it's just where he belongs I always believed Dan to be in Gryffindor because of the jumper he had (rip jumper, you will be missed).

Phil's energy and overall mood seems to be great in the last weeks and I'm up for that I feel like he plays a more dominant part in the videos now than before and I hope they keep this dynamic up.

I would really like them to film another part of 'gang beasts' because that video is one of my favorites it's just really funny and entertaining.
Other than that I'm really curious of what games they will play because I can only think of sims, dd (though I hope they keep it abandoned), maybe some christmassy flash games and a spon or so.
But to be honest I don't really care what they play I'm mostly here for the bants.

Uh, anyways, I personally wouldn't want more Pottermore content. Though I have to admit, I liked the video more than the usual shitty flashgames they play. Personal favourite would still be "proper" games, but that's not the content they are going for (anymore). I wonder this, too-- it seems to me that "Hufflepuffs are particularly good finders" has become so ubiquitous that people don't realize that it's not actually in the books (kind of like Carole from Glee not actually being a nurse) and that it comes from AVPM. I'm curious to see if other people on here recognize it as a reference to AVPM or didn't know/remember.

I know this is a bit off the current topic and 2 vids ago now but I've not been online much. When I watched ISG the other day I started thinking about how long it must actually take Dan to trawl through the emails, find good questions, find funny questions, think of advice, etc. and how a series most of us think of as fairly low effort (and actually a lot of us don't really like that much, let's be honest) is probably quite labour intensive for Dan to prep for. I've also beeing thinking about Dan's "I'm not competitive" remark. It certainly caught my attention when he said that, but it made sense to me. I think in general, Dan is not competitive: we don't see him comparing himself to other people (unless it's in a self-deprecating, jokey way, but even then not often), and he doesn't seem to measure success in a relative way. Indeed, someone whose childhood was characterized in part by being bullied is not going to want to think of himself as being competitive (because being bullied can amount to losing every competition).

In contrast, when we see him being competitive on the gaming channel, it's 1) a game, 2) with Phil, which is a unique, safe relationship, and 3) a performance.

On the last point in particular, I wonder if "sore loser/sore winner Dan" is as much of a construct for YouTube as "angel bean Phil" is. We've been talking about how much they probably affectionately roast each other in everyday life; Dan teasing Phil when he wins doesn't seem all that different to Dan teasing Phil in other circumstances.

Are there other manifestations of Dan's competitiveness that I'm missing? I'd be curious to know.

These are the ones that stand out to me the most but honestly for me it's enough to look at the past 8 years to see the romantic/ couple implications behind it. One thing that I forgot and remembered yesterday is the video where they first put up the Rave tree, how Phil calls it "our tree" even though they wouldn't move in together until the next year

about yesterday's video: thAt was so soft. I wasn't at all surprised at Dan being a Gryffindor, as a slytherin that have never been anything but a slyth I always pictured him perfectly in Gryffindor. Phil being a hufflepuff is just too adorable

Also agree with everyone saying Phil is looking so happy, giggly and flirty lately, it's so good to see! He leans so close to Dan, he looks at him softly and he's just glowing lately. I hope this never ends

I finally got to watch the Pottermore video and I quite liked it despite not knowing much about Harry Potter

I'm also wondering how what other games they'll be playing to fill up another 22 days. Definitely 1 or 2 Sims videos, probably an Overcooked live stream or 2 and maybe the Candyland level on Golf with Friends.

I'm expecting some more Dream Daddy as well since both Dan and Phil have recently mentioned it during live shows and I also recall Dan saying they'll make a video featuring the Truth Bombs booster pack. I hope that means that they're actually gonna invite people over again to play the game with and that's it's not just gonna be a quick spon at the beginning of a video.

Dan also said that some people have been requesting Doki Doki Literature Club but I hope they won't play that. It's quite disturbing, requires a lot of reading since it's a visual novel and they most likely wouldn't play the whole thing so there's no point to it.

sorry to be #negative but gamingmas has started very weak for me and ngl, i’ve lost all hype for it even being a thing.
as i said a few pages ago i find anything to do with shelter boring and i’ve never been a big fan of harry potter so i found this quiz type of video boring as well.

No matter how my what my opinion on what their relationship is I do very much believe they love each other and here are some of my favourite moments that I believe prove how much they love each other and moments I just think are cute

Most of these are younow live stream moments

• 29th March 2015 livestream was so heart warming for me and their demestic arguments.
My favourites moments was them having a different opinion on how good Neo Genesis was and dan saying “ here we go here we bloody go” that few seconds was like a convo between my grandparents and the whole thing about phil being confused by his elbow.

•The time Phil popped into one of dans live shows like them telling us they were going to Japan.

• when they did the interview for Huffington post. The interviewer asked them about living together must be difficult and now that their getting older it must be different. You could see they were slightly uncomfortable but instead of saying when they will move apart or how it’s different they changed the questions to all the good parts of living with each other. That moment I knew that they love living with each other and don’t wanna part (well at least for now in their life hense why they co own everything)

• anytime dan has mentioned phil wanting a dog and the two that stand out to me is when dan said in his live show back in 2015 he said “ I’m sure Phil would be down for a shibe” then back tracked and said or whatever dog he wants in the future while nervously touching his mouth.

• And my all time favourite moment dan talking about how him and phil can’t get a dog yet because the place isn’t a dog friendly apartment. He was so happy after they moved and the whole live show you can see a huge difference they’d just been on their holiday together and he was happy. Him saying “ so who knows brace your self for that... or whatever mongrel we adopt”. Honestly I think him saying that wasn’t misleading I think that’s something he genuinely believes and was so happy in that moment he didn’t mind saying it, he didn’t back track like the time before.

I wanted to address to this part of your post separately and say that I think I mostly agree. Because definitely the times we have been shown Dan being competitive are all on the gaming channel and against Phil, meaning in his comfort zone. I'm sorry I don't have other moments where he shows competitiveness or I just can't remember right now. And let's not forget that more often than not, he cheers for Phil and even helps him most of the time when they're competing.

The pottermore video was very cute! It really wasn't a gaming video though, which imo confirms that the gaming channel has shifted from "games & bants" to "mostly bants and sometimes games (if you're lucky)".
Anyway. To me Dan is and always will be a Slytherin with maybe traits of a Gryffindor. Phil is a Hufflepuff with traits of a Slytherin.
I have always been a Ravenclaw at heart, the only house that I think represents me, but I also got a high percentage of Slytherin the last time I took the test. I think it makes sense, in that I do share some Slytherin traits. It's probably hard to find someone who fits one house 100%.

I think Dan got some pretty silly questions that don't delve deep into the personality of who's taking the test, and that might be why he got Gryffindor. Also the pottermore quiz might not represent the actual traits of the houses accurately; Slytherin especially suffers from having the "worst answers" that people hardly will pick. If you're interested, I think this is a good read about the interpretation of the quiz, with hints at the points where it fails and how it could be improved.

As for my favorite moments, honestly I second pretty much everything that has already been said (dan's isle of man pic with the smiley caption is a weakness for me, it never fails to make me stupidly emotional), but I want to take this chance to mention the most iconic tweet in deppy history and also a big turning point in my "beliefs" regarding their relationship: the uma thurman tweet, which is now 8 years old (as of yesterday, I believe)

Reading this made me see this situation in a whole new light, interesting, it really does seem like the whole competetiveness thing mostly shows when he's playing against Phil, but on the other hand, we rarely see him play against anyone else.
In hindsight, I agree with you speculating that it could very well just be a construct for Youtube.
