Dan liked it, too.

Those men better be evaluating their life choices.

And that evaluation better end in something furry that woofs and I don't mean one of them in a fursuit.

It's a quiet day, so I'm double posting.

The Phil candle is back on in stock on the website - and I also got my candle shipping confirmation today.

I saw a bunch of other people also did in the last couple of days. The candlemaker posted on instagram I think three days ago that the second batch from the collab was being picked up that day so... I'm guessing that's not a coincidence? And what happened is that the first batch sold out before the site reflected it, and everyone's that ordered then got bumped to this restock batch and whatever was left from that batch after all the orders were shipped out reflect what's available on other website now.

I think that's fair enough, tbh, that they ran out of stock. But I do really wish IRL had maybe just shot out a quick email to everyone they knew wouldn't get theirs shipped right away to give the heads up. I just... wish so much was better about their merch business. I support and applaud them for being a small business (particularly the actual day to day employees, moreso than those two dudes at the top of the food chain there) during a time when small businesses are struggling. But there are just so many things that slip between the cracks with them and it's so frustrating.

I'm pretty much always on the side of 'a little extra communication never hurt no one' but working for a small business, I do get it. While I mostly don't do customer service, I did for a while over the summer which is our busy season and we had so many backorders (although we do most production in house) my boss was like 'we don't have the person time to reach out to people nor any decent timeline to give anyone, so only answer if they reach out to us first' lmao. We also produce over 5,000 different parts though, so I feel like IRL should be able to do a better job than us.

Because I'm a big nerd and instagram serves me up machining and production videos on my explore page, I saw a video the other day of printing designs on water bottles and it made me think of Phil's one. I think it's probably hydro dip printed or sublimation printed, but I'm not sure. Hydro dip makes sense since it's a design that covers the whole bottle, but sublimation makes a lot more sense since it's not a repeated pattern and the design is (I assume) in the same place on every bottle. Does anyone have one? I'd be curious to see it (the website pictures aren't great).

If anyone is curious or desperately bored in this week's content drought, here's a video of hydro dipping/water transfer printing on waterbottles https://youtu.be/3aLe5qOZoxM, dye sublimation on waterbottles https://youtu.be/HWW1WZWQX-s and a bonus inkjet printing on a waterbottle with darude sandstorm unironically(?) in the background https://youtu.be/bgTwHeHZIgs

I was one of the lucky ones that got my candle right away. I ordered from the worldwide shop and was shocked when it shipped out the next day because that never happens for me with irl. On the other hand I also ordered a plant killer sweatshirt from the us shop and it hasn’t shipped nor has there been any email about the delay. It’s always an exercise in patience ordering from dnp

Thank you so much for this info and the links! So interesting! I love seeing how things are made. I have the water bottle and I was wondering if the print on just mine was slightly imperfect or if they all were. I think they were probably made by hydro dipping based on the design also covering the bottom. IDB is just so cool with everyone contributing their knowledge based on their interests and experiences! I learn so much and thoroughly enjoy it here!

My candle-containing order hasn’t shipped yet - some of my friends who ordered the shirt or candle had theirs ship this week so I can only assume the hold up is the hot chocolate? I don’t necessarily expect individual communication about delays because as said above, that’s too much overhead for a small-ish business, but I think it’d be good to get general updates about item delays etc, like they did with the masks which also held up some orders going out. I know they’re probably having issues of their own with being able to have less people working in the warehouse etc, so I expect things to sometimes be slower, but it wouldn’t hurt to update the product page or put out a quick tweet if an item isn’t going to ship when they thought it would.

Yeah - you said what I meant even better than I did. I'm not really upset with the delay, I would rather them be supporting other small businesses with sourcing their products (like the candle and the hot chocolate) and that just takes longer, plus general pandemic related slowness - yeah, I definitely get it. It's just when it's things like this where they clearly had to wait for a second batch to be made to fulfill a large number of orders already placed that a quick update somewhere wouldn't go amiss.

Speaking... sort of, of IRL, can't believe I will Cornelia into existence. I think I surprised even myself with how happy I was to see instagram stories from her and Martyn both pop up. I loved the one of him squeezing her to him. Why do I feel like the Lesters must be the best huggers ever?

And as I wrote this post Phil had a very special message for us I'm editing in.
(hard refresh on desktop for IDB's very special message for the day)

I like Phil’s spooky theme but there’s not really any excitement if the theme change isn’t leading up to spooky week or a video. I don’t need spooky week to come back but maybe next year we’ll get Phil streaming on Twitch to make up for it

I was not expecting that today, very pleasantly surprised. He picked some pretty good products, I am very surprised at the quality of some of them! Also was not expecting to see Phil in a "fursuit" today lol. Wish we could have seen a Dan reaction like with the Nicolas Cage pants, I think that would have added a lot, but I love Phil and am happy to have his solo content.

Ok, with the combination of dizzy willing Cornelia content into existence and this comment from yesterday I'm beginning to get suspicious.... what semi-cursed magical powers do you have??

I'll do some timestamps later but I would just like to say getting a better look at how that room is laid out has really calmed me. Also sorry to people on moving hill, you must be getting a bit tired up there.

... brb honing whatever skill this is into a joint video...

And oh, don't worry, we're just getting festive up on the bill. Right before the holidays is a great time to move, yeah? :D Get settled in just in time to decorate for Christmas.

It was a fun video! Haul videos are never my favorite but they do the trick (meaning I get to see Phil be silly for 10 minutes straight).

I also enjoyed getting a good look of that corner, it helped me understand the layout of the room much better.

Wish vids are not my fav :/ but I do appreciate Phil making holiday-themed videos! It’s helps fill the gap left from spooky week and baking!

I must admit that I kinda sighed when I saw the video title (and then immediately slapped myself for being ungrateful in these trying times) but I did enjoy it for what it was. Watching Phil be cute for 10 minutes is pretty much always a good time.

That said, it really didn't feel very Halloweeny at all to me. Yes there were spooky products and there was a pumpkin in the background, but even in the past (not even counting baking videos) Phil has put more effort into spooky videos. It just felt kinda empty this year.

I hope he does something with sexy weird cheap costumes next year (to still fulfill his love for buying shit).
