Haven't listened to the RNZ one yet, but the Adelaide host has some incredible commentary before the played the interview.

Dan said he hadn’t watched this one in at least 10 years which could mean they forgot about it. But I feel like Amazingdan 2 was deleted more recently than 10 years ago which means he must have been watching his old videos including this one, more recently than 10 years ago, right? Maybe just exaggerating the timeline. Or is it possible he enlisted someone else to go through them because the cringe factor was too strong?? If so, maybe they actually don’t remember that there was an AmazingDan 2. Like him not remembering he tweeted about Phil winning him that stuffed monster, lol. (If he deleted it, then he obviously does remember it).

An aside: As a roomba on the floor of their lives, I want to know if they still have all those stuffed animals. The mention of snokoplasm got me watching old amazingphil and Phil had a lot of stuffed animals! Are they still chillin in the phouse? As a stuffed animal fan myself, I hope so.

It feels like part of the point of the Terrible Influence tour was to reassess their relationship with the fandom and figure out the right dynamic. I'm stunned at how perfect "roombas on the floor of our life" is. I'm floored.

hii it's been a bit since i've been here but i've been catching up on the year or so (god) of content (mostly because of my 10 year phanniversary being this month, which is insane to think about honestly, but also because they've been rent-free in my mind again since seeing tit in october) and i know this has been said before but i just want to marvel at how comfortable they are with expressing themselves and their humour. it feels so genuine and refreshing, and makes me really happy for them to be at this point. they have an audacity i never thought they'd reach, and i absolutely love it. i think part of me is always going to be stuck on not expecting more from them than what this fic depicts so it's just nice to see them hit those comfort levels.

anyway on topic a bit more: i was surprised at the lack of amazingdan 2 mention, but i went and rewatched it and the ~edgy humour is a bit off the charts for that one. didn't realize dan privated it completely, too. i guess i understand why they wouldn't mention it at all, i'd be embarrassed to bring traffic to something as obviously cringe as that, even if that was "cool" for the time lol

Honestly I haven't seen AmazingDan 2 in many years so the only things I really remember about it are that it's where the RPatz mask came from and Phil scolding Dan for playing with fire and blowing out a match. But I do recall it had nowhere near the cute energy of the original. iirc was a casualty of the great danisnotonfire channel purge of april 2018, which is when he deleted like half his channel including videos that had become controversial due to stuff like offensive jokes or a sex pest guest star. That was almost 7 years ago and they can't count years so maybe that's basically a decade to them lol. But he must've watched a lot of his past videos before then to decide which ones needed to go.

I also noticed that they cut the bit where Phil goes 'my paypal is [email protected]' and winks at the camera (and the shove Dan gives him) out of the reaction. Interesting to see where the line is these days, even if it's all over the place.

Them doing a reaction video for AmazingDan was honestly something I never thought would happen so it made me really happy, felt like an actual Christmas present.

This is completely off topic, but I've been having a full rewatch of all Dan and Phil content. Just got to the video of them playing Can Your Pet on the gaming channel, and I gotta say there is no way that they hadn't seen that game before. Dan especially! He's always been SO deep in internet culture and I genuinely don't think he could have missed the era of "its so cute!! But ACTUALLY ITS EDGY AND VIOLENT x.x".

Idk, I understand why they would want to fake it so the audience can see the official Dan and Phil First Time Reaction™ , but anyhow I just needed a place to say this lmao. Also I'm glad this place still exists Happy 2025, who knew we would all still be dnp trash after all these years

I think you're right, there's no way Dan didn't know. But it's so funny anyway and any time Phil does that one "I'm Evil" look to camera I just crack up.
