Well, 2017 is off to a glorious start with the glitter ball of Phil-iness we were privileged to witness today between the ls and the new AP video

For a few hours, I couldn’t write or think of anything in particular to say; I was too busy grinning like a maniac and having an overall much better second half of the day than the first. I don’t know what kind of craft or magnetism this fella has but whatever it is, he super-charged it over the holidays. Seriously, I feel like I took a sencha shot of detoxing warmth and playfulness.

So for the first ten minutes or so of the ls, he was like (cut to 1:17-38):

I kinda felt like making that corny old joke when I saw the haircut…you know, “you got your ears lowered!” He has cute ears and now they’re more visible. One time I wrote a really trashy post about his blush-y ears but it was so trash even for me that I decided to delete it. I don’t know if it’s just my mood today but I like fell out laughing at the hair-all-over-the-floor story. I can picture their gasmen at the pub later that evening like, “Mate, you’ll never believe the ones we had today. One was like talking loudly to a bunch of imaginary computer people the whole time? And the other one just had clumps of his own hair…yes his. Own. Hair. Strewn about all over the hallway….nope, didn’t even mention it. Not a word. Just mumbled something like ‘we’re all connected…New York Telephone’

blushed furiously and ran away.”

Anyway…Phil now with insta-quiff action! Tell me I’m not the only one who got excited

Very, very intrigued to learn more about the super secret creative project he has in store (and it’s cool that he even mentioned it). And has he been getting ultra zen creator tips from PJ (the thing about having a clean space which is so very true)?

So Phil likes spicy food, I wonder if he’s tried any Korean dishes.

I might actually check out that Happy Valley series, looks like a good one to pick up on a snowy, post-Sherlock winter’s evening.

P.S.- No disrespect but gosh darn it if he isn’t one blindingly white little dude these days (I guess it’s his coloring w/o much sun?)…I mean, he's lovely as always but my eyes were actually hurting a bit from looking at him

[offtopic]Ehm, I have a question about community-contributed captions on Phil's videos.

How that exactly work? Is it possible to help to change the latest community version?

Days/weeks/idk before, somebody had changed the English captions of PINOF8 and Phil had to intervene. Welp, the same has happened to the Spanish captions of PINOF1, I don't know how long they've been like this. PINOF1 start with "Why are you always so gay?" in spanish, instead of “Why do you always make cat whiskers on your face?”. A friend noticed it and I've tried to fix them uploading a contribution, but they are still the same. Is there any way to help to change them without make a big fuss?

Some late thoughts on dan ls and phan: Warning: this is under the impression that they are indeed together: I think Dan is very uncomfortable and comfortable with the idea of the two of them together. Like at one point he wants to openly show off his relationship with Phil but on another level he's defensive about it and thats why we see those moments of "mocking"

Himi said it best:

i think dan overthinks things a lot (that's just how he is) and he just has complex feelings towards '"phan" the ship we constructed and they're maintaining through various degree of fanservice and simply their joint branding in general and then, their actual, real relationship that's why he does things like saying he's thankful for phil or he enjoyed his present and one second after, taunting us with a 'you happy now?' or a "obviously". There's him being as genuine as he can, being a bf in love in a closet relationship and then us feeding on it like wild animals, honestly i'd feel weird too sometimes

fancybum *inserts the longest phil yasssss ever* your post was so accurate about how they both treat their liveshows. I think I relate to Phil in that I usually can small talk really efficiently. It's why in social settings Im so comfortable talking to new people and finding common interests.It's why he's able to play nice with all the youtubers in events and talk to them while Dan is on his phone. Going off that, he enjoys the ls because we are like the many other casual people he meets and talks to about things that are interesting to him on a daily basis. Dan on the other hand almost depends on it to let his feelings out. Its therapeutic to rant to people about things he's interested in because he knows we will listen and respond. Im sure both need it but Dan can keep going wheras Phil is satisfied when his 40 minute quota is up

I rewatched the ls without lag and absolutely adored every part of it. Phil being a family man is honestly the best thing ever and I hope his kids will hold the same sentiments about him and dan

They're telling young impressionable viewers that it's okay to not feel like you fit in all the time, there's other people out there who feel the same way. the narrative felix starts (which is something i'm pleasantly surprised about) calls out youtubers who build a brand upon false positivity (like how he shows roman atwood's "smile more" merchandise), but in contrast deppy does something actually respectable in relation to their message to younger viewers.

I don't get the problem/issue with false positivity.
Youtubers have the right to act/portray themselves as they want. If a viewer doesn't like it, stop watching, and why does another youtuber have to "discuss" the "impact", obviously (methinks) that youtuber has nothing else to talk about, so they'll "share their honest thoughts" about "this important problem". I think people want to make themselves feel better/look better by bringing others down. There are worse things youtubers do than false positivity, and only the naive do not realize by now that no one is always positive, thus they must fake it some of the time.

i got the impression there was a screening that lots of youtubers got invited to. dodie went to a screening last night with ryan gosling and emma stone, so i just assumed that dodie, pj and sophie, and dan and phil (plus probably other youtubers) were at the same screening maybe?

although now i think about it, maybe the time doesn't match up as dodie tweeted 11 hours ago, would that have been too early? i'm australian and timezones confuse me haha

I have to say I agree with everything you said. Im not even going to get into the bolded part because I think its completely nonsensical. All I will say is that Phil never perpetuated any of that, it was more of a projection from the fans (that even Dan *mocked*) that later became a mainstream interpretation in the phandom. He blatantly makes innuendos and even made that carrot tweet that made pete wentz unfollow yet he's still viewed under a similar lens. Like many have joked about before, Phil can make a video stabbing someone in the left tit and people will still revere him as a smol angel bean

back to the false positivity:
I've always admired Dan and Phil because of the story they tell and the inspiration and comfort they provide for many. Their stories themselves talk about the struggles of bullying, growing up in an area where you don't belong, struggling with anxiety and succeeding despite it. It's almost perfect the way they balance each other out- dan being more demonstrative and open about the rough things he experienced while phil bringing in the good. They aren't always positive but instead tell us a narrative of struggling to fit in and discovering ones identity. It's clear it's something they still struggle with today but are slowly learning to accept and commit. I think a lot of what they do shows that theyre human, not that they're always happy but that they do struggle and fail but are able to get up from that. It's why they have such a varying fanbase all struggling with different issues but all united and invested in them. We are rooting for their success because we see ourselves in them.

Dodie tweeted the movie was about to start just before 7pm (when Phil started his liveshow) and tweeted around 930 that it was over. It's possible D&P were invited to a screening, but unless Phil can bend time (and hey I wouldn't put it past him) it wasn't the same one Dodie (et al?) were at.

Also nobody mentioned Dan so Phil probably went with the secret ball and chain. But as it could have possibly been a screening and not a legitimate movie viewing of some kind, it still wasn't a date. No matter who he was with. There, are all bases covered?

ah thank you, that makes sense! so it wasn't the same screening then, but regardless of whether it was just the two of them or an official screening i'd be willing to bet dan was probably there too given that he mentioned he wanted to see it. guess we won't know until/unless dan mentions it eventually

I believe the reason the live show was early because they was going to the cinema, I checked the times of la la land at the cinema near them and one started at around 8ish and another one was at like 9.30.

Also why would a woman be knitting at a special screening?

He'd had a haircut when he tweeted on Weds. I think the whole "oh fuck, we've been living with a gas leak that could potentially have killed everyone in the building" situation probably trumped "haircut" on Tuesday...

I don't know I'd consider Phil tweeting about a haircut the day after it happened a lie. How many hours do people believe you have to tweet about it in before it becomes a lie to say you had your haircut?

I don't know if they were at the premiere or the regular cinema but I'd consider both equally possible as they've mentioned going to the peasant cinema plenty of times too, they by no means exclusively go to premieres.
And this is just speculation on my part but I'd imagine when it's out at the cinema at the same time and going to the premiere doesn't mean they get to see it early that in most cases they'd probably prefer to not have to dress up and do the red carpet thing.

As for the "date" aspect well some people believe their a couple (or would like them to be) and therefore look at the stuff they do from a romantic standpoint.
