Just going to go ahead and say I'm really uncomfortable with the financial talk, it's none of our business and I'm not sure at which point we are discussing personal information that we really shouldn't. Speculating about their earnings to this extent feels like it's starting to cross a line, imo.

It would be great to move into more exciting topics...

I actually think it's fair to speculate on their earnings since we're just using common public knowledge of youtube finances, and the discussion itself began with something that directly relates back to fans (pricing of tickets). Improper speculation would involve things like actual bank statements, which would be against forum rules anyway so there wouldn't be a question there.

But I also really hope they drop that Dil video today. I'm intrigued by Dan's weird teasing from the livestream about Dil's job. I hope we get an episode that focuses mostly on non-family stuff.

I actually think it's fair to speculate on their earnings since we're just using common public knowledge of youtube finances, and the discussion itself began with something that directly relates back to fans (pricing of tickets). I agree with this and I don't wanna bring it back but once in this forum there was a much more specific discussion regarding this, when someone tried (even if rudely) to say they were not okay with it the majority voted against them . In this case people are giving only a general talk about it.

Frankly imo yt is their job so they are gonna try to make the most of it in the short span of time they will be able to, so whatever, fair is fair, still they are in a situation where they could afford to be more classy about it. Lately on dapg their attitude seems more like a lazy job,as a fan I'm allowed to say imo they are becoming like the gleamers or tyler oakley.

I'm a little confused about people feeling uncomfortable by the fact of deppy "money-grabbing" by attending the Amplify thing? As suggested, they probably sponsored the tour and now must effectively do as they are obliged. And people annoyed that Phil disnt mention it? They're sneaky fuckers, or simpky put: they dobt care. It means nothing to them.

As well as that, it's already been established how much money they make off of YouNow alone, and shameless plugs and merch as it is...I mean, I don't think they're reached the point of "sellouts" as it stands, they can still exploit us all for more money before we get sick of it, that fact is without a doubt, but it's pretty obvious it's being done. I mean, we're gonna bitch and moan about it for a few months but then when the events roll on we'll "OMG!" about the cute domestic vlog or pic they do and then it'll all be the past and balance will be restored.

Ultimately, we're the ones in particular throwing money at them as they dance like monkeys and then we complain when they get someone paying them for attending a different venue for people to throw cash at them in person? What's the difference? And I know we like to humble them with when they do charitable deeds, and that's nice of them. But money is essentially the meaning of life, and I really dont care anymore about how much they make. I'm just here for the bants, and people constantly turning against each other when it comes to these materialistic conversations is getting old, fast.

2:03 - "Inappropriate" gift: autographed SMG signature for his bday, couldn't get SMG autograph so got David Boreanaz in a bath. "It was not the signed Buffy picture I was expecting, but I love it all the same."
8:10 - "Dan gets to do the nice smile."
9:10 - Went to see - with Dan - Manchester by the Sea.
9:44 - Cinema with footstools. Guy tripped over their footstools then fell face first into Dan's popcorn.
12:15 - Phil wanted to buy a drink for the guy who fell. "Hey, I brought you another coke because I feel awkward." Phil and his anxiety manifesting as a need to try and intervene to smooth the situation/end it as quickly as possible.
12:35 - "Man in our popcorn" He starts out saying Dan's popcorn, ends saying ours. Old habits die hard but they're not guarding against slips carefully or seeming bothered by them.
12:51 - "Lester male curse... of attracting situations." His brother doesn't. His brother would just embrace it more. "I'd be like oh no, I feel so bad. My brother would just be like loooooool this is hilarious, I'm going to film it." More of how Phil sees himself vs how he sees martyn, this always fascinates me.
15:20 - "It was a good day out."
15:40 - Gas leak 2.0
16:58 - ("You need to move.") "I know!" If it happens again they replace the entire gaswork of the house and outside on the street, and if that happens they won't have hot water or be able to cook anything for three weeks. They'd have to... go on holiday..... REALLY PHIL (<--- genuine in the moment reaction that I'm leaving in.)
22:25 - Mild misophonia - noises of chewing or nail biting make him cringe so much. Mouth noises are gross. what about blowjob noises
23:13 - Doesn't like thinking of mouths too much, they are weird.
24:44 - He loves Stephen Universe. I can't wait to see their continued reactions the more dramatic it gets.
25:37 - Addicted to The Santa Clarita Diet. So Phil doesn't mind comedic gore, but he didn't like the realistic gore of something like the Outlast 2 teaser.
26:40 - He got a coat on the way back from the cinema. He really wanted to tell us about this coat. No one is fooled.

29:47 - Make-A-Wish UK meerkat feeding. This whole story was the auditory version of eating pure sugar.

34:50 - Saw penguins. Route to meerkats went past lions then llamas. I enjoy imagining them having a laugh with the Wish girl over their old branding. Phil brings up lion breeding again, because of course he does.

i sort of feel like part of the problem with discussing deppy's financial situation is that it's actually two different discussions at the same time: whether one finds it generally appropriate/justifiable how much people working in any kind of "show business" earn compared to the work/effort they put into their career (be it youtubers or, say, professional athletes) and whether one thinks that deppy specifically are an outstanding example of this practice (be it that they earn an outstanding amount of money for an outstandingly small amount of work, or that they push ads/"charged services" such as meet&greets outstandingly compared to other youtubers). i'm also not sure how consistent an argument could be brought forward that they exploit their viewers in any sense, seeing that the majority of their content can be consumed completely for free -- it's possible to use an adblocker, even if younow encourages "tipping" broadcasters, it's not necessary to do so in order to watch the show, and the books and stage show were more of a "bonus content" to the whole dan and phil thing, but it's not as if it's integral to have read or seen them to enjoy the rest of their content. i feel like if this criticism were to be followed up on, we'd maybe have to discuss to what extent (especially the young) viewers are encouraged by deppy to spend money on them.

Ok, I was an event organiser, and the whole "The talent sets the prices thing' is most likely bs. There are two possibilities. DnP's management asks a flat price for them to show up and do whatever, or they get a minimum per person they have to meet. Anything beyond that is added on extra by Amplify. In either case, You can bet that the bigger celebrities are asking for more money, so why are all the prices the same? I don't believe it. Also it's hard to find, but I caught this on the cool for summer website "proudly sponsored by Rimmel London, Proactiv and Wool4School." Ticket sales are not the only source of income, and never should be.

Looking at their website, they barely have enough information to have announced and started selling tickets. That is probably why DnP haven't said much. I bet a whole lot of 'I don't know yet' is involved here. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be another clusterfluff that their management company talked them into.

I am interested in what everyone thinks they will be doing at this one day festival? Presenting acts? Another cutesy question and answer thing? Standing around looking pretty? As cute as it is, TIIH is not really concert worthy outside of tatinof imo.
