wat.
what is this in reference to? I mean, I assume (obviously) it is a joke but there has to be a reference of some kind...
the sanders girl is Dan
Please explain. I have no idea what that means....
Dan publicly supports Sanders, thus he is a sanders girl (this term being a joke of course). He follows his two official Twitter accounts and in a LS back in August, he said the following:
Chat: Opinion on Bernie Sanders?
Dan: Yes, he really does seem like the best candidate. Doesn't he, at the moment? From what I can say as an incredibly uneducated B R I T I S H young person when it comes to American politics.
Also back to an even earlier liveshow when he was asked whether he support a candidate (maybe Hilary, i forgot) he said no, he is more of a sanders girl.
As for Phil being sexual. Dudes at that age are pretty, sexuality driven so if he was constantly bringing up sex joke or saying he wanted a girlfriend, i think it was pretty normal. But it's more likely just a phase, a horny phase. He rarely being flirty nowadays but i think when he does he is way more chilled and subtle.

phil has a literal death grip. i get its meant to be a reassuring friendly thing but it is a tight grip and very close contact. ouch.

he was on youtube for close to 2 years before he actually made regular videos that could class him as a "youtuber". there were other vlogs, but not much more than the handful that remain. it's kind of hard to celebrate something that just wasn't really a thing. do you start with channel creation, first upload date? most youtubers technically started long before being actual youtubers. especially when they try to establish phil as the one with more experience, he can't celebrate 10 years when dans technically at 10 years too

Like in louise's collab he first pat the dog toy on louise's boob and then in the obama llama he almost touched louise's boob/stomach.

It was a sad day indeed when Phil decided to stop leaving the top buttons undone, I'm telling you.
Haha jaej... I definitely didn't think he was too full-on back then, but I was also sixteen at the time and he wasn't nearly the sluttiest person on YouTube (here's looking at you Daniel.) But even now I think he seemed fairly tame....just more, you know, of a real human with a normal libido.
Honest to god that phil killed me. One of like, 5 people I've ever found that made me question if I'm as demisexual as I am irl.
But I agree that age might come into play with how you perceive these things, I was 22 when I first found phil (and youtube for that matter) and it was just about two years and a half ago so I didn't experience the whole thing live.

really? I see it in a complete different way, I find it very sweet that he makes sure to touch a fans shoulder/arm and I honestly think it makes the day of many people. It also must make the whole photo-taking process a whole less awkward. And I remember reading something a while ago about a fan who doesn't feel comfortable being touched so she just said so and he was 100% okay with it, not even acting like it was strange or awkward.

I wasn't really offended, I totally see how people could get offended though. What kind of annoyed me with the video it's the "I'm trying to make you come off as problematic by asking you why you're living with a white person instead of a black person and why the person you're friend with isn't black ?" but I guess he (the interviewer) was taking the piss of people who try to make everything problematic (I swear I'm starting to hate this word)

I second akui's opinion about Phil generally being kind of clumsy. And especially in a fast paced M&G situation, I don't really think it's a creepy thing. Phil tends to go with the 'arm around the person, hand on the shoulder' pose a lot, which, all things considered, could result in things looking a bit strange.
(I say this because when I met them on the UK leg, as a 5'2 19 year old female, my hand may have slightly grazed Phil's butt when we first attempted to pose for the picture )

actually the way he grabs their shoulders (and the way dan hugs people, for the record) is actually something I was taught as a camp counselor when it came to physical interaction with the kids (because they were small, and small kids like to hug people).
they're two of the ways that makes the person feel like you're accepting their physical affection but at a distance AND you're in control of how close they are and where your hands are because small children (and people meeting their "idols" or whatever) tend to get over excited and just kinda launch themselves at you otherwise and without knowing how to handle yourself in these situations, hands and other parts might end up somewhere else accidentally.
it might not have even been their original moves, they might have picked it up from "fan interaction trainings"

It is definitely training; you can tell from pictures over the years that Phil used to give real hugs and now he and Dan both do the 'hand on shoulder' thing that lets them control how close the person gets. Phil just tends to do it a little more naturally, whereas Dan is the most awkward duckling ever. Phil makes it look fluid while Dan just looks like he's halfway to shoving the person away from him.

Moreover he does it with everyone; mums, dads, other youtubers so it came across at least to me as his natural go-to photo stance (with the exception of Sanders girl of course). Also he does own the big brother vibe and that I guess neutralise any strange/creepy feels that goes with his close proximity/handsy style.

That makes a lot of sense, I bet youtube must provide some workshops like this when they have their gatherings.

08/09 Phil vids are what I re-watch the most out of any of their channels. I started watching the last year (I was 25) so I didn't feel weirded out by his extremely outgoing/flirty personality back them, it is both hot and sometimes even funny in my opinion. But I'm just so y'know
Def a pity that he doesn't undo the top buttons anymore
As for Phil's pose at M&G, whilst I am more than ok with people being open to having doubts about youtubers (or any famous person in general) I feel like you are definitely exagerating. It doesn't look inappropiate at all, it looks kinda reassuring imo and well it's p much the same pose regardless of the age/gender/etc. Both of them are very good in how they treat the fans, so what's being implied rn it's kinda :/

Yeah I seen that too. But my favorite example of such behaviour was when Markiplier jokingly said in a video he had no idea what porn was and his comments were full of tweens helpfully explaining what it was complete with "I am 12 and I know that, how come you don't know"?
So you really can expect anything with this type of people

Thanks to everyone who shared their opinion about it. Just to clarify, I'm not saying he is creepy (it's just this particular situation (fan photos) and I don't like physical contact at all, so I guess that makes me way more sensitive in that regard).

Yeah everyone's different when it comes to physical proximity, I have no issues hugging strangers as long as it is of the same sex. However I don't have physical interaction with opposite sex (even friends) unless they are my family members and of course my partner. I'm pretty sure though respects any fan's wishes that may include no physical contact.

Re: the BG interview. It *think* it was scripted, but if it wasn't, that would have been a borderline ambush video. I'm undecided what it was.... Compare that to a Caspar Lee interview, where the point is not to make the interviewee uncomfortable, but to make the interviewer (Caspar) look like an ass - which I find much preferable.
Anyway, while on the topic of collabs, I wonder why Dan / Phil haven't done anything with Joe Sugg? Maybe it's not appreciating pranks (not my fav genre either?)

This intrigues me, actually. Maybe it's just because I like him so I'm very biased, but I thought him actually having physical contact with fans was a nice thing to do and made the selfies/meet and greets seem a lot more personal as opposed to Dan who just holds the phone and does a classic V sign. Also from all the pictures I see, he very rarely actually grabs people, but it seems like his hands are ever-so delicately placed and he's normally barely touching the person (like his hands are hovering moreso than actually grabbing.)
This isn't at all meant to invalidate your opinion, I'm just intrigued by it.
