I think the point being made here is that they did exactly none of those things after coming out. They confirmed themselves as a couple (to everyone except people that need to spelled out word for word in black and white) and all of that stopped. They monetized their chemistry, their compatibility, the fact that people enjoyed watching the two of them together - before that confirmation of a romantic relationship. Once the romantic relationship confirmation was out... nothing. None of that.

It took a year and a half for them to even sit side by side in a video and when they did it was only for a major life announcement that they knew we'd find out anyway.

Just watching the DDR vid makes me cringe because they were so clearly trying to avoid touching each other as much as they possibly could because of this exact reason, it's not what they wanted.

I mean, it might seem weird but if this is the boundary they want to set, so be it. That's their decision to make and it doesn't have to make sense to us, we'll still have to respect it. I'm actually pretty sure it makes sense to them. I can't believe they don't carefully plan out what to put on the internet and what to keep private, these are not spontaneous decisions on their part, so I think this is the level of sharing private stuff they're comfortable with and if this is where they draw the line, good for them. I also think that's exactly why Phil included that question instead of ignoring the topic alltogether. He's reminded everyone of this boundary and I think it was needed, considering people keep asking them this question even though they've made clear they don't want to answer it outright.

I also think we (like, the phandom as a collective) can't well say "But why won't they tell us they're together?" considering the ten-year-backstory of their relationship with each other and with the phandom. There was some dark stuff going on, loads of lines crossed and boundaries broken and just because most fans don't do that stuff anymore doesn't mean it never happened. It might be in the past for us but it sure isn't for them. So I kind of understand why they don't trust us with a clear answer considering their relationship and that's just gonna be something we'll have to live with. It might suck for everyone involved (especially for people who always respected their boundaries but got lumped in with the fans who clearly didn't) but it does make sense why it's happening considering the context and the massive impact it had on them and their careers for literal years.

Thank you. I feel like we'll also need to accept that they don't tell us this stuff because they want to share it with us so badly but because there's no way they can keep it a secret for long. So they tell us on their terms instead of having some fans find out and it blowing up and turning into a big deal.

Interesting! Going through the channel, it looks like they get a different person to present it each day so I'm guessing it's not his actual YouTube project, just another little extra.

I could definitely see him doing something along these lines moving forward though! He seems to be gravitating towards activism and spreading awareness so it'd fit the current Dan persona more than his old content format;

I'm absolutely bewildered how people can't just leave certain aspects of their lives private if that's their expressed wish. It really is a basic human right and the argument that this sort of thing happens with most other celebrities doesn't make it any more decent.

To disregard someone's request for privacy in this way lacks basic common decency. Even more so considering Dan's admission that he struggles with his mental health. If these are the boundaries they have set in order to cope with day to day life, then who is anyone to question it?

It isn't some game where there's a secret code to crack, it's two peoples' lives.

Very much this. No one knows what's best for a relationship except the people in it. Who are we to say what would be easier/better for them? Especially considering very few people can relate to the unique challenge of having literally millions of online followers. They've made their stance known and that should be that.

If we are talking about monetising their relationship after the coming outs, then yes, it could be see so. Although, I do not see the correlation between them not monetizing on the speculation and them not uploading, because the reason was not "we no longer* want to get the views from the shipping" (if it was ever there), but "dan needs to deal with his sexual identity/house as a part time job -> book writing / thousands of other more projects, projects which are more profitable simply in being something they like more than youtube (certainly for Dan, for whom the book and mental health thing was so important on a personal level!).

Not exactly, since they're not on top of each other 100% of the time: the "cute"/romantic interaction happen in clips that could be easily replaced by others! They know which little things make the phandom go crazy since you simply need to follow their tags and you see that a certain micro-second of video keeps being posted.

I assume doing this video was a one-off and part of the contract/deal/whatever for the panel, since they are the same event. It's really interesting to see Dan in that space, and I have wondered as he seems to move to more 'current social issues' type focus if he would be doing more presenter-y things. I do wonder too for things like this how he manages/balances his typical 'voice' and humor style while also creating something for a quite professional setting where many people in the target audience are not people who know him. I have the feeling that some people might take his humor style with such serious issues badly, without any background on him. Although it does remind me of a few things he did in like 2017? Maybe early 2018? Being on panels with much wider audiences/non-youtube based settings and stuff.

Also hard agree with soveinco, fucking a that audio is something.

This is a really interesting point. He does have a pretty specific sense of humour, it'd be interesting to see people's opinions who aren't familiar with him. Phandom tends to take over comment sections of any video either of them are featured in so it's rare to see anything about the content or Dan as a presenter/interviewee more generally.

I've seen the address theory and besides from my expectation that the return address would be on the envelope instead of in the letter, addresses are usually more than one line of text, so I don't personally understand that. It looks to me like it starts with the letter "H" and ends with the word "this."

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. The shops normally exist as separate entities, they're only combined for the month of December as a lil' festive treat of not making us pay triple shipping as we shovel our money lovingly at them. So this is just them going back to the status quo, shop wise.
