You have a lot interesting folders there.
Mine was cleaned last mid-week, but then i had a lot of homework and GG stuff that came in-between (tho all of my programming homework is nicely in the documents folder, which reminds me how insane my documents folder is

We didn't do much in my actual course work on CompLing either, but I got into it through my Honours thesis, where I tested geolocation methods on Twitter by trying to find a link between language style, user relationship, and location. It was a much too ambitious project, so it ended up being a survey and outline for my tests only, but I definitely enjoyed what I got to do, such as mucking around with NTLK (which if you haven't checked out yet, is super useful - nltk.org/book ).icklebrina wrote:angrymob wrote: With you, me, and icklebrina we'll have a small gang of present and past Ling majors going soon. Yessss to IckleMissMayhem for posting mobile desktops too lol, missemma will confirm that every time we meet up I nab her iPhone and iPad and just like to look at what she has installed and ask her why, I'm so bloody weird.
I really ought to move this page of icons to the first screen instead of third,it's my most used stuff. And honestly, the need to have so much stuff available to me quickly is driving me nuts with it's lack of symmetry, I usually need to space out icons of similar colours or I go slowly bonkers but necessity has taken over lately.

I USED to have a really tidy desktop once upon a time (not human tidy, that's a wet dream, but still, tidy and organised and neat and satisfying). Dan and Phil totally ruined that for me lately - I just can't be bothered anymore with plugging in my Deppy harddrive every single time I save something that's got to do with them, I've given up! Yes I bought a separate harddrive just for D&P, shut up they're cheap. And it's VERY organised tyvm icklebrina.
Look it's my mobile desktop:
Btw when I uploaded one of the pictures above to Tinypic, I got the Captcha "Captcha in the Rye".
I actually had no idea that could happen. But apparently it's what my computer starts doing when the desktop runs out of space and I keep saving things anyway, oops.Anonymousse wrote:-Heap-loads of shortcuts stacked upon eachother (to make more room?)

(And how did I manage to click this thread for the first time in a day just in time for the Charlie references? Seriously, I've got radar.)
NO, human, I absolutely REFUSE to take time out of my day to click these.
It's all just junkmail.
Gmail on my computer separates them from my regular emails so I never ever have to see them, but my phone doesn't for some idiotic reason and keeps telling me I should read them, and they're drowning my regular emails so I can't find them
(I've heard there's some way to fix this but I'm technologically inept, this is a cry for help)

I'd have thought there'd be a setting in your YT account for email notifications that would allow you to turn them off... If not, I have no clue.felucca wrote:NO, human, I absolutely REFUSE to take time out of my day to click these.

IckleMissMayhem's evil fic writing alter ego.
felucca, the Gmail app might be a bit friendlier? The mail app is a bit pants tbh I never use it. Prefer to have separate apps for my Gmail and my Hotmail (that I use for work and Uni) than use the built in app.
Randomly, I wish I could delete those stupid hints and find a friend Apple apps, never use them, and stocks. They go into my "nope" folder, hidden from view forever.

human oh yeah I really should turn off Youtube notifications, more than half of those 12k are from them, maybe I will right now.
Still getting loads of junkmail from other sources though, oh well.
So idk. Ignoring him, I guess.
I thought so too, but Phil didn't actually unfollow Charlie until January 2014.kusunoki masashige wrote:Didn't Phil finally unfollow him after this one?IckleMissMayhem wrote:I'm not the one with it saved on my computer, but whatevs...felucca wrote:Umm....![]()

I'm minoring in French and I ultimately want to go into translation. I don't have a concentration in linguistics or anything; I think pretty much every branch of it is fascinating. I guess I'm a bit partial to phonetics/phonology/morphology though.
Also, I rewatched Phil's first video on its ten-year anniversary and he FREAKING TALKS ABOUT LINGUISTICS. After all the time I've spent complaining that he never mentions it, you'd think I should be aware that he mentions it in his very first video (and then never again lol).

Speaking of pictures, that edit of Dan with ashen white hair is doing things to me. I think it's the throwback to 2006 Gerard Way that does it. I've lurked on here for a LONG time and I wasn't even going to post an introduction but fuck it
idk what to say next so i'll just puke out some hip facts
-I swear far too often. Like I swear as a vocalized pause it's honestly getting to be a problem.
-I'm bisexual and have only told two close friends who actually ended being bi too so that was cool
-I have a passionate hatred for american cheese, even just touching it or smelling it makes me gag
-I get far too obsessed with things like dan and phil and actually have a lot of trouble balancing my interests. I'm stuck in a never ending battle between d&p, anime, and sims.
I briefly considered adding more to this list but I think I might get carried away.

If you pursue French-English translation in North America, you'll probably have to deal with Quebec and New Brunswick quite a lot and for that I'm sorry.
I guess it probably wasn't his favourite or what he expected (as it is for many), but c'mon Phil, at least give use more context to your example! What phenomema is the question talking about, Phil? I just assumed he was talking about the phenomenon of assimilation. I could be wrong though. I, too, wish he had talked about it more
And I personally happen to think assimilation is cool! Silly Phil. Though I will grant him the dislike of exams

Yeah, I just feel like their was probably more information in a previous question, since it seems to reference a specific phenomena and word/phrase, so the question sounds more confusing that it probably would be with context. I see you Phil, trying to make it appear more complicated/boring than it actually is. Not that I'm not guilty of that myself sometimesicklebrina wrote:angrymob - Thanks for the link to NLTK, looking through it a bit

I just caught up on 8(!) new pages, oh god. I can't believe I missed the HP house discussion (INFP/Hufflepuff seems to be a pretty popular combination btw? /high fives oqua + jhambs + whoever I missed/) I did that one really big sorting test that seems to have disappeared from the internet a few years ago and Pottermore actually sorted me into Hufflepuff the first time I took their test so yeah, 100% badger here
my Hufflepuff scarf is my proudest possession
I'm, too, really hyped for Eurovision this year!! I haven't listened to any of the other entries yet but I actually like our (Germany's) song. the girl singing it is a complete weeb it's so surreal and yet so fitting
Also, yes to both Anne Hathaway and Downton Abbey. Haven't watched it in ages tho because
But it's a real shame, the show is amazing. I really have to get over myself and continue watching.
And finally: yaay, desktop sharing!! Here's mine:

I'm 16, lmao, but I've signed up to my first online forum when I was 9 so I'm pretty sure I witnessed the very end of it. I don't remember much but what I do remember is glorious. So many gif stamps. Hi, lovely people! I think it's high time I properly introduced myself.
- My name's Diana and I'm studying Communication-related bulsh*ttery
.
- Just turned 24 last month ommggggg
- I guess I'm straight but I feel like I'm about 70% asexual. I can find boys attractive but it's usually veeery hard for me to like someone, I'm mostly like this smiley here - . (Especially during my HS years.) Even if I do get attracted to someone, it's usually some kind of a celeb or maybe a unavailable person.
- I'm very emotional and sensitive but when it comes to relationships, I generally don't feel almost anything. At least so far, my friends tell me I just haven't met the right person yet..
(And often exactly people who I would never like romantically are the ones interested in me so HA HA, I'm very lucky
)
- I used to be pretty active on Livejournal and graphics communities, where we made edits of our favourite shows/movies/etc. Then we moved to tumblr and I haven't properly interacted on there for years. I miss these times, back then my favourite pastime was creating icons or something on PS. So relaxing!
- My latest pretty big obsession up until last year was ASOIAF, I got quite invested in the Arya/Gendry future possibilities/parallels.
-Rediscovered D&P around late last summer or so, but I was a bit of a Dangirl in 2013 (?), when I found his videos. Took me some time, but later on I also subbed to Phil aaand then I kind of forgot about this side of YouTube, I guess.
Very happy to join this community!
