I agree, to be honest most of them are the same questions just worded differently. Kinda making it easy for Dan and Phil to be unoriginal with it. I was going though the updatedphan Twitter and did find one question that felt kinda original or at least not asked before.

I would assume at least 3 hours pre show at the least. But it would also depend on travel time. They were still packing up 2.5 hours after the show. They would most likely take less time to unload since they have more of a time constraint; unpack, set up, make sure all is well. Where after the show it is just tear down and pack up. Not as much pressure for speed.

My guess on the why in regards to the cringey fans doing the generic questions for the M&G's is because they're too hyped to think of anything clever, or they know they have to keep it generic or may not have time/want to do something different, but they want their autographs to be unique in some way.

Looking at the signature in the book months later and seeing the part where you asked them a question and they wrote something just for you, regardless of how generic, has to be slightly more exciting in terms of remembering the moment, than it would be if it were simply just a signature and nothing else. To look at the book and see your handwriting, then their handwriting, sparks that feeling of the interaction you personally had with them.
