I don’t care about merch I just want the full HQ photos of Phil wearing it. :cherryblossom:
Amen! Give us those lookbooks boys! (I only vaguely have a sense of what that is, but I’m sure Phil would wear mostly his own merch and Topman and then finally get a modeling offer from them.) Here have some frustrating old tweets:
I’m assuming this never happened, correct me if I’m wrong.

Oh but it did.

As far as Dan posting a pic from 2008 in 2009 is 'it' happening of course.

Holy shit, I never knew about his account on here, but what a damn delight to go through. Especially some of his comments attraction thread worthy?

wait holy shit has dan's lookbook account never been discussed on here?

ok so a quick search tells me it indeed has not. huh. funny. i mean it's not super interesting considering dan was dan and abandoned it pretty quickly but it's still a thing.

The more things change...

Kind of on topic for ye olde phandom content: I was on a copyright claims website today and was curious enough to put 'amazingphil' in the search bar. It looks like he claimed copyright over the phan timeline in order to have it taken down at some point. I didn't know that had happened. Was that a thing?

Wow what a strange little world! Bryony is a Queen. And Charlie oh Charlie. Thanks for enlightening us @Catallena

@knq I’d heard about that vaguely but would love to know more.

Yeah that's why the phan directory has that fun little note for him at the bottom of the page, lol.

I think the general theory was that it was right ahead of all the TABINOF press and they were just trying to keep things from being easily searchable by media. They went on a whole radio/newspaper interview loop, if journalists were ever gonna dig that'd have been when.

Phil talks about his final project (stalker music video with Lex as the victim) in the first minute and a half of this video:

I’m wondering PJ and Lex’s breakup is why he never shared it, even as a look back/reaction video.

That breakup seems like it was pretty nasty so that's a valid guess.

I am still sad that Phil didn't stay closer friends with Lex. She's still one of my favorite youtubers. I feel like she and Dan would get along.

Yeah I still think big YouTube breakups like that are part of why Dan and Phil never made their’s public in the beginning. Of course them both being male also plays a big part.

I’m wondering if there is more to this Q&A than it seems. I feel like last time we were waiting for close to a week was for Phil’s background (that was a little over a week yeah?), but that’s because he was waiting for accessories to arrive. I’m not impatient or anything.

Phiiil, I could really use that Q&A... It's been 5 days, but somehow I feel like it won't be posted today. Tomorrow? I don't know.
I checked his members only post where he asked for questions, and it has 388 likes/975 comments. Makes me wonder if some people didn't extend their membership after the first month, because I expected more likes on this one.

It seems likely that Phil's video is being held up by the logistics of other stuff being ready (this time the merch, last time the arrival of everything he ordered online) rather than the filming/editing itself. He's been super quiet though!

On the copyright/take-down orders, the idea that they wanted stuff taken down before speaking with journalists about TABINOF/TATINOF does sound familiar and obviously I know Phil continues to have the vday video taken down, but it's interesting the difference between 'knowing' and seeing for yourself. For anyone else interested in that potentially uncomfortable experience, a few of Phil's earlier (2013-2015) copyright infringement notices include statements from him.

https://www.lumendatabase.org/notices/968209
https://www.lumendatabase.org/notices/1556122
https://www.lumendatabase.org/notices/10910709
Dan: https://www.lumendatabase.org/notices/1556121

He twice refers to the video(s) he's claiming as 'private' which is interesting as it doesn't seem like something that would relate to/strengthen a copyright infringement notice.
https://www.lumendatabase.org/notices/677456
https://www.lumendatabase.org/notices/1548426

While Phil has filed take-down notices somewhat continuously over the years (and it seems only certain parts of Google and Vimeo choose to archive their take down notices publicly on the Lumen database as I don't see any from YouTube etc.) Dan has only filed once, at the same time that Phil filed the one asking for the timeline to be taken down, which somewhat lends itself to the idea that it was a joint business decision.

It's interesting how different their communicating with an audience strategies are. Considering how close they are as people and how often they seem to adopt each others opinions, they have had very different ways of trying to control their content. At least early in their careers, Dan attempted (but didn't entirely manage) to persuade the audience to behave directly, while Phil generally hasn't spoken against fan behaviors but uses the laws that apply to him instead. (That could be a false comparison because Phil has copyright over the vday video, of course, but many of his take-down notices do appear to include different videos.) For as much as people hype communication, the more behind the scenes way works better, just in the opinion of another non-confrontational person. It's interesting that they both consider themselves to be people who avoid confrontation, though.

In other 'random stuff I found from years ago' news, I didn't know that danielhowell.com in 2011 was up (though empty) and had sections for 'About me,' 'Pets,' and 'Travels.' It would be fun to hear from Dan about places he traveled with his family when he was young, as that seems to have been a significant part of his childhood he might not have hated as much as the other parts.

Whoa check the sale page for Dan and Phil shop. So many things are on sale, including stuff that maybe wasn't even sold anymore? I can't remember seeing some of these for quite some time.

"DanAndPhil" seems dead. Especially considering what they said during the first II shows, how they have been canceling traditions from April Fool's to PINOF and of course the recent months.
It's a shame. I'm not even annoyed anymore, I'm just sad that it seems over and swept under the rug.

I think they genuinely are just clearing house which makes me excited for whatever comes next to replace it, considering we got confirmation just a few days ago that the shop is not closing.

Honestly, the only thing I'm angry about here is that they didn't put these things up for sale together. Like... come the fuck on. How many people need to complain about their exorbitant cost of shipping before they learn that we want to at least be able to order things together?

Fuck sake.

Preeeaaaach :ribena: I really shouldn't have to pay £6.99 in shipping to Canada for a £1 sticker set. Like. I'm sorry, you want people to pay £7 to ship...paper? And...idk. I understand having worldwide shops to remedy some of that but even ordering from the US shop to Canada the shipping isn't any better. And plus, I will give them more money if they had a joint cart. They did it once, they can do it again. All IRL shops, really, should have a joined cart. I know I'm not the only one who wants to buy one item from one store and one from other but ends up maybe not even getting either of them because I don't want to be charged twice for shipping, or even pay between £7 and £11 pounds flat for it.

If it helps, US shipping within the US isn't actually any better. It's been consistently cheaper/the exact same price for me to order from the UK shop and the UK shipments have gotten here faster.

I don't think the shop is closing or anything, but I also can't see them making new merch until they've uploaded a few joint videos. So... likely not that soon, but I hope they'll prove me wrong.

Huh. That's even more disappointing. What's the point of it then, besides getting to you faster? Especially since the UK shop is going to be the one with exclusive items, and I think even different makes of clothes if I'm not mistaken with the difference between the distributors.

There is none! I always order from the UK shop because US isn't worth it. It arrives max like... 1/2 days later, but cost is exactly the same in the end and I can get cooler stuff. I asked Martyn about it once... he blamed Brexit.

Unfortunately I think you might be right, they've hinted at it, from the early ii shows like you said, talking about going and doing different things. Which is fair enough, but does make me sad when the bants between them was my favourite content. Trying to be optimistic though, but there was an awful lot of wrapping up and dnp things not being done this year so far.

Anyway to try and be more cheery, sparky the stunt dog 🐕 seems like a very important board game character
