I don't get why people are annoyed about their communication skills. I don't really see anything out of the ordinary compared to how it's always been and I'm fine with that. To be honest, I would just prefer they don't announce anything at all rather than commit to doing X or Y and then not managing to deliver on that. I don't see them as professional entertainers in that sense, they get away with what they can and they're not the organized people that some seem to wish them to be. They've always just came up with things as things went along and I'm just not bothered by that.
I doubt they really have a plan or schedule for their content during touring, but yes: if anything i hope they do as much liverstreams as ever because that is my favorite content ;)

‘As much livestreams as ever’ appears to be 1 between them in a month, so yeah, can’t wait.

The "exactly x months since the first one" someone mentioned would line up with this as well. Or it could just be a coincidence, idk. But if it was automatic there's a chance they didn't even notice it was expiring.
I was the one who mentioned that last night and I’ve been wondering this all morning as well? When I looked up the sponsor program it did say it was a beta for a handful or so of youtubers. It could be the fact there hasn’t been live shows (which makes sense). It could be that because it was a beta feature for a select few, it could’ve been a trial run (possible). Or it d&p shut it down bc of lack of live shows. It’s hard to tell but we’ll find out soon I hope.

The thing is... they are professional entertainers. Very much so. Their entire livelihood depends on entertaining their audience. That's literally what they get paid for. So, imho, the least they could do is learn to get a little organized and let us know what's going on.

I don't need the deep details of their lives by any means (though I still wanna know what they got each other for Christmas), but a quick tweet about the next live show being in 2 weeks because tour planning is taking up their lives wouldn't kill them. Right now, it just feels like we have no knowledge of what's coming next. When's the next video? When's the next live show? Will there ever be a next live show? Why is it so quiet? I'd even take an extra sprinkling of domestic tweets to tide us over but we're not getting that.

They know how this "influencer" thing works. Their entire living is on entertaining an audience via social media, so it's a bit frustrating when nothing is being communicated. And the fact that they're not organize people is not a pass for me.

I understand they're busy and I understand why, but that doesn't make my end of the bargain any less boring. And that doubly sucks when people are putting sponsorship money into it. (I'm also looking at you, Chris Kendall.)
susan2 wrote: Wed Jan 31, 2018 11:35 amI'm at work so can't look it up, but didn't one of them say recently something about new/different ways of interacting live? I thought it was in reference to communications with the wider audience during the tour, but I wonder now if it was meant more broadly and perhaps they're working on something that isn't quite ready yet. Does anyone remember the reference/wording?
I think there were 2 difference references alluding to both types of things. One was a way to interact during the show - I think people were suggesting an app or something? But generally we don't know.

Another mention came from Dan just after the tour was announced. I distinctly remember him stating that, unlike during TATINOF, there'd be a lot more content coming from them this tour, presumably because there's no DAPGO. I don't recall when that mention was made though. I think in a LS. My hope became that they'd instagram story, but idk what he perceives as content. Pre-filmed videos? Instagram posts? Who knows.

I don't think there is, other gaming channels who don't stream regularly are not affected. And, like someone else said, there was no promise of regular livestreams for sponsors anyway.
They removed the feature themselves, which imo is a good thing if they aren't going to give anything back and are doing spon videos on the gaming channel.

The thing is though DAN did communicate, at least with the liveshow thing. He said his live shows would be sporadic because he couldn't guarantee that he could be there every Tuesday at 9pm to do a liveshow. Phil is the one that has not said anything. I find is so weird because Phil let's us know everything. If he can't do a ls he says why/does one on Sunday/ joins Dan in his on Tuesday. If he promises a video for the weekend and it's not ready in time he let's everyone know that it will be up the next day. Before a video goes up he let's people know so this silence of why he has yet to do a liveshow is baffling.

Not really. Where in there job description does it state that they should manage their communications professionally? Who's the employer paying them for tweeting about their planning and keeping their audience in touch?
They're self-employed, and they get paid when we buy tickets to their shows or merch or by the revenue sharing model on advertisements that youtube uses.
So we as individuals (who of course are supporting them indirectly) may wish to apply our own standards but they don't have to abide by that and in reality they have never communicated consistently like that. They have always just done what they've done and I think it is reflective of their personalities. Sometimes they just jump of the radar, often the information reaches us rather chaotically or in bits and pieces.
I personally never cared much for a tweet about when their next video will be out and it's going to differ from individual to individual what someone expects of Dan and Phil as entertainers or people. I don't think we stick a job description on them.

@fancybum Well thanks for the medal, and let me give you one too in the hopes that it will ease the frustration you feel about their communication ;) I understand it might be unacceptable to you, but there's other stuff that they do or don't do that are much more meaningful and important to me.
Here's to as many liveshows as possible and to a 2018 that though i suspect it will be sparse in content will hopefully bring us quality. To fresh, funny and genuine video's :wine:

So we as individuals who of course are supporting them (in)directly may wish to apply our own standards on how we think they should act, or voice what we deem to be their responsibilities towards us as an audience, but they don't have to abide by that and in reality have never communicated like that. Self-employed does not equate to not being a professional in their field. They're business people and social media influencers, and are definitely entertainers from those aspects of their jobs and ultimately before them, as they were entertainers before they were business people or influencers. They provide us with entertainment, and they're making money off of ads, merch (and from the branches of their professional merch company), and while many fans have their standards for how they think Dan and Phil should act, they are firstly business people who function through social media. Their lack of communication is disappointing because it is literally their job to be on social media, and from that, communicating effectively to their fanbase.

In the end, they are who they want to be and I disagree that we are in a position to tell them what it should mean to be business people or social media influencers. They define their own standards in how they communicate.
I personally hope they don't want and will never fit all these 'professional' roles. If i'd just wanted to see a professional entertainer, i'd look to other places than youtube.

That's fine. But then, their audience will define their own standards in how they support/sponsor them. Namely: not.

If they do have something planned how exactly would they tell us. I mean they technically already did when they said they had ideas about "live content" that they could do while on tour and they need to work through those thoughts. Are they supposed to tell us what these plans are only to have us be let down if they don't actually work out? I think as tour slowly approaches we will find out more like when they decided to do gaming livestreams. It was probably an idea they thought of long before they told us about it. Once they realized that it was looking like a greater possibility they clued us in more about the steps it was taking to actually put into fruition.

Regardless of whether deppy are "real" entertainers or not, and whatever argument you may have like "they don't owe us anything etc" I just want to call them out on their radio silence, so is it bad to come here to bitch about it? Though, I do wonder if they're devoting a lot of their time towards planning this your. Even though it doesn't seem that far away, they did basically admit to planning, writing, and practicing TATINOF all pretty much at the last minute. Hopefully. Maybe they're just sitting in their sofa creases with their real SO's and we're running around like headless chickens. People freaking out that #phandivorce because Dan didn't tweet early enough need to take a break.

I’m not sure we’re all even having the same conversation, but I think the main gripe is them not communicating about liveshows because those are actually scheduled/expected (and Dan set the precedent of communicating that his would be off-schedule so what’s Phil’s problem) and now the gaming streams that people actually put money in for. If they changed their minds about that, cool, but say. something. Expected content being ghosted is the issue, not them not telling us their ~secret plans for tour or what they’re having for lunch. Wanting some acknowledgement of having changed a long-enough-standing-to-be-expected-schedule isn’t crazy entitled fan behaviour. I’m not harping on Dan’s shitty upload schedule on dinof because he’s established how he works on that channel; I respect his self-employed freedom to do as he likes (while saying so) and his methods there. I don’t respect Phil’s GHOSTING on younow that go against his previously established (and Dan’s currently established) schedule, self-employed or not. PSA.

(And I’ve had the thought that maybe they would livestream some of their stage shows? Or parts of them? And that’s what Dan was referring to? I’m not sure if that would make any sense with their hardline on “spoilers” but maybe a very fan-involved (whatever that might mean) segment that completely changes every show could be low-risk (spoiler-wise) to stream?)

phil going "next one is you" had me in actual tears, what does that say about my sense of humour?

what even was the part where they argued about having four or two in a row? additional bonus for "wtf is wrong with us" implying that this wasn't a moment intended for the video but just...how they resolve conflict. "let's say three". because that totally...makes sense (not)? i'm amazed.

things i never thought i'd witness: phil saying "this is not phone sex" in a stern voice.

things i didn't think i'd witness either, but since it's dan i'm like, i don't know what i'm expecting at this point: (licking his lips) "how to give explosive oral with a landmine" why am i here what am i watching at this point what is the meaning of anythign

The camera position of this video and the Zelda video is exactly the same so they were filmed on the same day (you move the camera a tad when you take out the SD card; generally their framing is slightly different in every video). In case anyone cares about that. More proof that they were/are busy?

Video was alright, bit bland. Liked the wtf is wrong with us moment. Had to play it back. Yah, nah... Babadook. Encouraging Dan and Phil mpreg fan works. What else is new? It’s 2018

I laughed way too much at that. They were really cheerful and it made the bants great.
This type of game works really well for them, i hope they play it again.

Okay, that video was delightful to me. I'm gonna do timestamps later after I watch it a couple more times but there is something so satisfying to me about videos where they're not doing anything but chatting over some options on a quiz. They were both into it, too - at least in terms of letting their weirdness and very synchronized banter just flow freely.

The bit about 'understand gay and lesbian people' - Phil had an interesting reaction there. I feel like I could see the wheels spinning in his head as he tried to figure out what he wanted to say in respond, which stands out since most of his other remarks after questions were pretty obviously unfiltered and off the top of his head.

I also feel like Dan took the comfort re: sexual jokes a step further here too, at the end when Phil makes the comment about throwing bombs all over the bedroom while he looks right at Dan. There's like three seconds of Dan with his mouth open not actually responding and then he meets it head on with an oral sex joke?? Way to go, Dan, not ignoring that innuendo like you have in the last few videos.
