I think this is why Dan plays most of the games - because when he has nothing else to do but make commentary, he turns into a bratty little shit who just wants to critique the game/Phil's skills more than actually try and make it seem like they're having fun.

That said, still liked the video. It's equally fun for me to watch them in this kind of scenario as it is them playing something they're genuinely into.

Fully disagree that the gaming channel was created just to spon the future book and tour/build their brand together, but a gaming channel was a business decision and I think, in true form to them, when making business decisions they try to go with a mix of indulgence/things that they enjoy and just solid financial decision making. The original FNAF is their third most popular video on the channel, it has over five million views. Dan might resent having to play the sequels but they are proven popular. I also understand them wanting to keep games they enjoy to themselves. Playing something with an audience of millions undoubtedly turns it into something that is less of an escape and more just a part of their job.

It's just that Dan tends to gravitated towards Phil when he walks so it seems like they are touching

Hi all, long time lurker etc.

Today's Sonic video was pretty poor content, in my view. Dan clearly wasn't excited by it from the beginning. Phil played well and was more into it. They needed to be on the same page: either both take it seriously, or both laugh at it, but Dan just ended up looking a little obnoxious because Phil was trying hard and he didn't really care.

It improved a lot somewhere in the second game, after both became more engaged with the storyline. Overall, /5

one of those thumbs up is from me, and honestly that sums up my opinion on both this and yesterday's video

i know some people still find it enjoyable, but personally knowing that they are playing something they don't like at all completely ruins it for me, it's not even a problem of them pretending to like it or not, hell, i think i like it more when they are at least honest

it's not even a problem of it being a 'serious' game or a shitpost on game form as sonic.exe is, i LOVE the impossible quiz videos, idc what the heck they play as long as they are genuinely into it

i understand and respect why they wouldn't want to play their fave games on camera, but didn't they think of that before deciding to have a gaming channel jfc

that being said, i'm fan of seeing them play 'serious' games, pt is my favorite dapg video after all, so i'm REALLY excited for the outlast 2 demo tomorrow, i've watched a few let's plays and it's a solid 5/5 spook as dan said

off topic: now that skyrim special edition has come out and a few youtubers have decided to go back to playing it i really want to see deppy playing it, and by playing it i mean getting distracted by random shit and doing random side quests not playing the actual main quest ever, also skyrim is a ridiculous game at times (think the sims randomness game of thrones edition) i'm pretty sure they would have plenty of # bantz for the peeps that watch the gaming channel but are not really into gaming

Like I really looked forward to that video as I used to really like Creepypasta so at least I had prior knowledge, but he just kept criticising everything. Every jumpscare he 'fake screamed' at, implying people that found it scary were young/stupid.

I get he's bored of it, or found it childish, but what does he expect when he caters to a young audience?

And why play a game if you're just going to moan and whinge through it, it makes you look quite obnoxious/pretentious..

i gotta say i actually quite liked the video?! I am done with this Sonic.exe since the beginnings of time (it was never good, even the 1st one) but Dan being so done with it and Phil very poorly trying to make us believe he was interested was actually pretty funny.
I liked it a lot more than when they pretended to be immersed and scared in the 2 installments of that thing they did the years before. The bants felt pretty authentic and unscripted too.
Obviously i would prefer they played games they actually enjoyed but they have for some reason decided against it something like 2 years ago now and appart very very rare exceptions like PT have consistently played only games they don't give a shit about and very often despise too.

I would love them to play open world games even if they have played it before it would still be fun to watch. skyrim, fall out new Vegas (that's my shit right there), fallout 4.

Critical yes, maybe we have different views of what being pretentious is like however that to me, was pretentious. He didn't like the game but he didn't need to act like he did, it just felt quite rude and "oh I don't like this I'm going to let everyone know I don't like this whilst making fun of people that actually like this because they're 7".

This was on the US tour, someone found them at the Chicago Bean and took pictures of them. When you zoom up, you can see they're not holding hands. But why would they in the middle of a crowded park after they met a fan?
Dan has got to be at least 6'4. Maybe he seems so tall because Phil has bad posture?

Half of the vid I was agreeing with him the other half I was Really makes you wonder what he must have been like as a child, he definitely acted about 5 or 6 multiple times in the video. However, I did like the fact that he made fun of his overreaction to the fact that the game said his name.

OT/ MAJOR throwback I was watching the old vegas live show and loled when dan mentioned not wanting Phil to show his messy bed while the one they were sitting on was literally perfect and supposed to be Phil's. He stated in TABINOF that Phil was incredibly messy.

Loving the YASSSS compilation but love your YouTube comment even more. I agree with you so much (as always) that they should play content they enjoy, it would be better for them and for us.

I didn't really get the sonic.exe video. I need to rewatch as didn't wanna watch with headphones on as dans screaming hurts my head so watched it really quietly in bed. I didn't find it very interesting and apparently neither did they as they both seemed pretty uninterested. My favourite bit was at the end when they were discussing it and Phil looked so handsome in the whole thing. We just need those glasses to make a cheeky appearance.

I hope they don't do a spooky Dil again, I'm still salty from the last time they tried to palm off Sims as a frigging spooky week video because decorating their house with a cobweb is so scarrrrry. Please no Dil this year.

can i just say how much i love when they have really in sync *cough* so married moments or inside jokes like at 5:52. there was no hesitation, right after dan read “like a rat” they both go and finish the quote. i think for me it just reaffirms how much time they really do spend around each other and i live for it.

Whether it's because they're afraid of the audience not liking new things or because they can't be fucking bothered anymore I dunno. But stop complaining and suck it up then, no one is making you play this game

Anyway the game was boring and Sonix.exe really should've ended after the first one because at least that one was actually disturbing. See Dan being obnoxious about having to play Undertale on camera earlier this year DAPG's wasted potential gets me angry sometimes. The hype for it before anyone really knew what 'Project X' was, the launch of the damn thing and it's few good months, the decline because of the book and tour and now...they seem to have so little interest in it. If they still actually gave a shit they'd put effort into finding new games to play, or revisit old school games from their childhood/teen years like they originally said they wanted to do.
