Loved the video, their voice acting was on form, so many quick character changes and still they're pretty consistent, Dan's dramatic actions here and there were great, and all the comments on things like family and parent/child relationships. I really liked their choice and reasoning for the response to Amanda being late, going for open honesty rather than mindless authority. I love how they kept calling him Diddly too, the real name is awful
Dan looked so good in Savannah's tshirt, it's tighter than what he usually wears and it's nice to see his arms. It's funny, he wears it and two sizes sell out so she makes cash, Deps and the rest of IRL make cash, win-win I guess.

Dream Daddy has an option to play a 'streamer-safe' version of the game that doesn't use copyrighted content - is it possible D&P could be playing that version and it doesn't have the bar scene for some reason or other? Although I don't see why D&P would play the safe version and Markiplier, etc. wouldn't...
I'm going to go and check and will report back if anyone is interested.
I enjoyed the video but was too distracted by waiting for the bar scene and then it not happening to take much more in!
P.S. I've played all the endings and Robert is the best Daddy don't @ me. Dan has excellent taste confirmed.
EDIT: Can confirm that before they started the video they just elected to go to bed while Amanda was having her sleepover and that skips the bar scene. We'll never know how Dan and Phil handle an indecent proposal *sigh*

What I'm enjoying about both of the Dream Daddy episodes is that they seem to be playing quite earnestly. It's kind of sweet. They are genuinely considering each choice and each character, not just clicking the silliest option, or the safest option.
Having to choose the storyline really does reveal quite a lot about d&p and the way they approach the world, (so far mostly in regard to parent/child relationships I think) which I kind of feel honored to be allowed insight into. Dunno, maybe that's just cause I'm super emotional and overly invested, just generally. But it is cool to hear their reasoning and anecdotes, those exchanges are half the reason I enjoy the gaming videos as much as I do. It's not the most exciting game, but I love story driven stuff so I'm fairly invested already. I do hope they don't stop playing, it's pleasant and I get to look at their pretty faces for nearly an hour.

Phil tweeted this earlier:
And Bryony posted a pic of the same thing on Instagram (thanks anon on tumblr who tipped me off), so I wonder if this was their gaming night?

I know literally nothing about Dream Daddy, so I'm enjoying the videos! My one complaint though is that the game itself is slightly too text-heavy, and at times I felt that there were scenes that didn't necessarily contribute much to the story/felt like they were dragging things on (the vomit flashback at the mall, for example, or the bit with Amanda and Daisy playing at the cookout). But that's a criticism of the game, not Dan and Phil.
I thought Dan looked great in Sav's merch (I personally really like her merch, and I think it's up there with Nathan Zed's merch in terms of quality youtube merch), and while I'm sure it was largely a spon for IRL I like to think he was also thinking of how his promo would also benefit Sav. I also agree that Dan probably admires the subtlety and aesthetic of Sav's merch.
In terms of the video itself, Phil is correct and has great taste in men, Mat is clearly the best Dad. I loved all the little moments where they related events to themselves, i.e. being late all the time, shopping at Bed Bath and Beyond, watching silly cooking shows etc. The game itself doesn't easily lend itself to much commentary due to the fact it's so text-heavy, which is a little frustrating, but I think Dan and Phil are doing their best with it.
Also, HOW did uni!Dan not know that cooking pasta involves boiling water??? My jaw dropped when he said that, omgggggg
). Cuz like, a) where? and b) it seems so mean to me to be mad that two not-straight guys may be kind of wary of peoples' reactions to them playing an LGBT-related game, when so much of their lives are already constantly scrutinised. They don't exist to portray their sexualities in such a way that meets the standards set by their viewers, and they should be allowed to just play the game at their own comfort, just as straight youtubers are allowed to do.
And thus concludes my thoughts on the second Dream Daddy vid.
Also dizzy you're probably right, Wirrow tweeted about watching 'The Room' earlier so I'd guess they had a movie night or something
(is that their tv maybe? too dark to tell)

I thought the same at first, but then it occurred to me that it's very possible they discussed this beforehand and it was something they were in agreement on. Phil's said before he struggles with reading fast-paced dialogue aloud, so it may well be that he asked Dan to take on more voices because Phil already has a lot to read as Dilddy (or Diddly, I should say).000dia000 wrote: A thing I found interesting was at the end of the Dad BBQ, when all the Dads were speaking, one after the other, Dan did the voice for every single one. I know that Phil does the voice for Dilddy, so it probably makes sense whilst reading for Dan to provide the answering voice to Phil's more constant protagonist/narrative. However, it's just disappointing, especially considering that Phil was very close to pushing the main Dilddy-person onto Dan to narrate. Dan really dominates the voices and I wish Phil had more weird voice opportunities, Dan seems to be struggling to really differentiate the character voices now![]()
Personally, I don't. I thought Phil happily provided commentary about which Dads were his favourite and why, and he didn't shy away from suggestive innuendo either ("he's gonna get the cane out" followed by giggling comes to mind). I agree that in the first video he did seem kind of low-energy, but he seemed objectively pretty upbeat and into it in this one to me.ewok wrote: Does anyone else get the impression that Phil is even more guarded/careful in what he says than Dan? Hmm. My tinfoil hat may be on too tight today.
Yeah, I will never understand people's criticism of their play through as "lacking in gayness" or whatever (not saying that's your criticism, ewok, you and I are on the same page I think given the eyeball emojiewok wrote: I'm very positive that everyone was wanting them to play Dream Daddy only because they were hoping for more of an insight into D&P's sexuality/attractions. When the phandom pushes, it shoves.

Why hello folks. I’m de-lurking and writing this a bit late because I’ve had quite the afternoon. Wait...what? It’s Friday night already? Geez, well…I don’t know how but that live show managed to slay me, revive me, then slay me again…so, that’s why I’m writing this from the crypt. The crypt which will be my home while I process all the domesticity and adorableness that we’ve witnessed this week.
First, the double live show.
Re: Dan-nus interruptus.
Re: Dream Daddy (this one is an actual spoiler warning as I’ve played the game and find the ones that they’re, well, mildly amused by…interesting. If you don’t want to know what happens with the daddies’ stories, please avoid!)
Alright, my weary workweek bones need a good night’s rest…so it’s back to my lurker tomb until the Sims drops or perhaps when one of them tweets about something other than food, the weather, or being awkward (not likely, as they’re probably on their best behavior in case Important TV Execs' PR assistants check out their social medias in preparation for Edinburgh next week).
First, the double live show.

Yes! I was thinking this as well, while watching. They actually approached situations in a very healthy way looking at both the parent's and child's perspective. This + Dan's comment about loving his family more after leaving home had me feeling very mushy.SneakyLizard wrote:What I'm enjoying about both of the Dream Daddy episodes is that they seem to be playing quite earnestly. 000dia000 Re: the voices, while it would be nice to hear Phil take on some of the other dad voices, they did choose it very strategically. Phil voices the main dad while Dan voices the daughter, Dan voices the other dads but Phil voices most of the other kids (except in the cases where the kids interact with Dilddy first, like Lucien). Of all the other dads I think I'd like to hear Phil voice Damien the most. But I think they knew their character had the potentional to go out on dates with all the dad's, so for voicing roleplay it works best, unless they trade off voicing Dilddy (which hey, it is a combination of them, so they could if they wanted to).

Thanks for the timestamps autumnhearth, they were really funny!
Now, people shaming Dan for not knowing how to cook pasta when he first moved out got me thinking. (Or rather, my baby brother moving out later today to go to uni got me thinking, and now I've got an excuse to talk about my musings that are probably bordering on off-topic but here we go anyway.)
I'm not really that shocked that Dan didn't know that you need water to cook pasta. My dad always uses himself as a warning example when giving me and my brother life advise because when he first went to uni, he didn't even know that you're supposed to scrub potatoes before cooking them so he had ended up with disgusting, soily food. His mum, my grandma, hadn't taught him any housework skills for the sole reason that he was a boy, and while I'm not accusing Dan's parents of consciously denying him of knowledge of useful adulting skills, they probably were affected by the social norm stating that men don't belong in the kitchen. I mean, my parents have actively tried to teach me (a girl) and my brother (a boy) all the same skills, but in the end, when I moved out four years ago, I was far more prepared for living on my own than my brother is now.
Social norms obviously affect not only how we are socialised at home but also at school, through media and so on, so if you think about Dan's situation from a wider perspective, it starts to make sense. Of course, it's always possible that Dan just hadn't wanted to learn useful skills before moving out despite his parents' best attempts, but even his possible disinterest in housework would've been affected by social norms. Free will is largely an illusion and all that jazz.

Dan looks really handsome in the Dream Daddy video
I loved the video. I think the game is funny as hell and the romancing is relatable
While they may talk to each other less than in other video's because there's so much text to read out, I prefer their comments in games like this or undertale, i think they are more revealing and genuine than the *top domestic bantz* they put out in the sims.
The humor of the game meshes well with their own. It's witty, steeped in popular culture and they don't hesitate to turn a whole scene into a pun battle. Couldn't think of anyone else who does that
. Also, i've got the feeling that they are into the story. Especially Dan has been vocal about that. It's like they are personally involved into quest of finding a the right dream daddy...
Some things that stood out to me the morning after (i've already forgot loads)
- I felt Dan was almost painfully honest at 37:30 when talking about Robert: " It's like me" .. joking, double joking than triple joking" "and then everyone's just like.. wow. Do you have a personality? Or are you just hiding it under layers of humor as a defense mechanism" [followed by his signature self-realization stare]. To which Phil very sweetly says "Don't worry Dan" and Dan says "eh I'm kidding".
I'm not convinced you were Dan
-Phil gaving a rare glimpse into his personal preferences when he says that intelligence CAN be attractive but not in the way Hugo tries to show it.
- The way they commented on all the characters is revealing. Dan and Phil aren't impressed easily, that's obvious to me. Looks like if you were to meet them, the best chance you have of them liking you is just sitting in the corner and not trying to be cool or edgy in any way. Just say you're cool as a cucumber
It's a vibe I often get from them. Hence, I guess, why for the moment they seem to like Mat the best even though (Dan) found him a bit to Hipster.
At 23:33 when they have to pick who to talk to and Phil says 'I think this is like one of the first important decisions" we get some insight and a short review of all of them :p and they seem to more or less make the same judgements about everyone.
There's plenty of other stuff, I say give it a shot even if you think it's not for you. Just following the game is funny by itself. Can't wait for the next epsiode, i'm refraining from watching other youtubers play the following chapters just because I want to see my dads talking about their dads first

I'm trying to wrap my mind about how you can live for 18 years on this planet and not be at least dimly aware of some food preperation knowledge. Like that you don't bake pasta and that you're supposed to peel potatoes ? Are these the people who search 'how to cook bread' in google  ?
Also yes Dan gave some more *rare* info about his family and what he says about moving out and how .. absence makes the heart grow fonder strikes me as true.
It made me think again that Dan very likely gets along just fine with his family, and does have a warm relationship with them. It's often contrasted with Phil's family who appear to be even more tightly knit. But i think it's more reflective of their own personality. Phil is straightforward in how much he likes his family, and the Lester's seem to support one another without making much of a fuzz about it. Dan and his fam may be a bit more complex, I don't think necessarily the fundamentals are that different (i think they both come from loving families, basically) but like with many other things Dan likes to spend some time on the shadow side of things, and is more vocal about points of criticism and shortcomings that their parenting might have had.
IN effect, they're both lucky people family wise, and I do think they know that. As becomes apparent the moment there's a conflict between their audience and their own ideas (Adrian, them being pretty much very private about it all xept for a couple of mom cameo's ...)

I thought the same thing. I also don't think the game is ideal for playing it on your channel opposed to playing it by yourself.captainspacecoat wrote:I know literally nothing about Dream Daddy, so I'm enjoying the videos! And I saw a bit of PJ and Sophie playing it and they were really confused when things happened that you couldn't see on screen and were just mentioned, like the cookies Joseph brought them. I feel like they went in not really knowing anything about the game and Dan and Phil were aware of that beforehand because I certainly did not expect that much text and almost no animation. You really have to use your imagination a lot and I think that's something you either like or don't.
Nevertheless, I think it's a game I'd enjoy playing by myself but not so much watching other people play. But since I don't want to spend money on it, I'll just watch Deppy and hope they choose things I'm happy with
What sometimes annoys me is when Dan is way too fast for Phil to read and he has to finish the sentence for him, like slow down just a bit. I get why they go so fast but it's a bit exhausting to watch. And I can't believe Phil wouldn't even say "shit" as a different character, like, come on Phil!

No he did actually somehow survive his teen years, home alone, with only food and games to keep him company yet mysteriously unaware of the basic fact that you're supposed to add water to dry pasta and cook it?
I mean, does he ever look at pasta? Does he not appreciate it's moist and wet
nature? Has living years with cheesophobic Phil made him blind to the beauty of an al dente bowl of carbs? Does he just eat microwaved popcorn all day?
Thank you @autumnhearth and @alittledizzie for making me doubt Dan's general adulting capabilities and also how the fuck does he manage to make wok up some pretty ok looking dishes in some vids yet not know of pasta. This makes no sense to me. Is he pulling one on me? Is he actually a rat turned human? To many questions.

I've always been under the impression that mac&cheese is a thing only in North America, so Phil hating cheese probably has nothing to do with Dan's pasta eating or cooking habits. Like in Northern Europe where I live, mac&cheese only exists in American teen movies and The Sims.Stakhanov wrote:No he did actually somehow survive his teen years, home alone, with only food and games to keep him company yet mysteriously unaware of the basic fact that you're supposed to add water to dry pasta and cook it?

I thought he meant that he didn't know this when he moved out for uni, but considering he mentioned it himself I assume he now does know you need to add water. Probably learned it after the first time he burned it. Which makes me wonder what happens when you try to cook pasta without water. Does anyone know? Do the bottom ones just turn black? Does anything catch fire? Do you have to throw the pan out? My parents taught me and my siblings to cook from a very young age (I had to help peeling potatoes when I couldn't even reach the countertop yet) so I don't really know what it's like to be this not-selfsufficient. That said, my brother has managed to burn soup and I've known people who set their own hair on fire while cooking an instant meal, so I suppose anything's possible.Stakhanov wrote:No he did actually somehow survive his teen years, home alone, with only food and games to keep him company yet mysteriously unaware of the basic fact that you're supposed to add water to dry pasta and cook it?

From the few glances we've ever had at their fridge/cooking/general adulting, it seems to me they generally do alright. (There was one moment, I don't remember when, when they showed a fridge just full with veggies and it made my health-conscious little heart really happy.)
Also, @somethingsketchy, do you never put cheese on any pasta dishes? I also live in Northern (Western? Northwest? IDK) Europe but there's definitely a lot of pasta dishes that we put a ton of cheese on. I often buy a small bag of cheese to put on my own pasta as my parents don't really like it.
Italians definitely put cheese on pasta tho.. just not in the pasta drowned in cheese sauce way Americans do.somethingsketchy wrote:I've always been under the impression that mac&cheese is a thing only in North America, so Phil hating cheese probably has nothing to do with Dan's pasta eating or cooking habits. We do put cheese in pasta dishes, but mac&cheese is a specific dish that we don't have. As far as I know, in America it's often made out of these just-add-water mixes that you basically just put in a pot, mix with some water and then heat up.citizen_erased wrote:Also, @somethingsketchy, do you never put cheese on any pasta dishes? Hm. I live in Belgium and i too only know mac and cheese from the movies. It's the same as spaghetti and meatballs which doesn't exist here either as a dish (spaghetti carbonari is very popular and similar though). But the "traditional" way of eating spaghetti here is with lot's of sauce (way more than an Italian would add) and cheese. I love it. I mean i'm the kind of guy that splurges on a piece of parmigiano reggiano just to grate it all up on one meal
Now I wonder what the pasta eating habbits in the uk are. I guess they either didn't like pasta or didn't really cook home meals regularly at the Howells.
For clarity the comment about Phil being part of the explanation was a joke, i was just browsing through his answers on the infamous Customerservicedepartment blog ( as compiled here http://indepthbants.com/topic291.html) and read his pasta-related answer:
im-a-danosaur-hear-me-roar asked:
This is a question that has been bothering the Phandom for a LONG time. Do you like pasta?
danisnotonfire:
yes but i don’t eat it that often because phil is cheese phobic
Doesn't really sound like much of a culinary sacrifice now the truth about his shameful pasta burning is revealed
In general though, i wonder what people think of their eating habbits? I think they order takeaway a lot. They love food, they are lazy af, they don't have to mind the money and they live in central London where the choice is overwhelming. Have we even seen a kitchen yet? Is any actual cooking being done on the breakfast bar?

Finding my own inarticulate prose
Weirding out strangers and laughing at those
Jaundiced and jaded, postured and posed
Not that we’re special it’s just that we’re
Closing in on a place where we might get to be
Living real people regularly

This seems like a tweet that's a result of Phil winning a gaming challenge.
"You loved it, you want to do it more."
"Alright"
"Alright"
Was just about to mention that. Wonder if it's another #spon..onceinaugust wrote: This seems like a tweet that's a result of Phil winning a gaming challenge.
