I watched the video finally and surprised myself with how much I actually enjoyed it. Phil and Shawna seemed to have genuinely good chemistry and it was obvious that they get along really well in person - they both came across bubbly and happy, and seemed to be having a great time, which made for a genuinely enjoyable viewing experience. I'm so torn, as I'm not somebody that can separate the person from their politics - it's such a shame that her political views are what they are because I would have enjoyed that video even more if I could just forget about them.

This might be a weird question, but in fanfictions, why does Phil rub Dan's back in circles when they hug? Is this just a common trope I haven't heard of or something?

it's just a general comforting movement, not specified to dan and phil in paticular. whenever people comfort others they tend to rub their backs after they've spent a certain period just sitting/standing with their arms around them, probably so they have something to do and so they're not just standing their stagnant.

i would associate it to when you hug someone for an extended period of time and you begin to sway gently before letting them go.

That'd be nice but I feel like they don't usually do main channel and gaming videos back to back days.

Though, if Phil wanted to change that pattern up, now would be a great time to.

off topic, but is there a non-laggy version of dan's latest LS floating around anywhere? i want to rewatch it but I can't deal with that nauseating lag again D:

The version on Dan's tumblr worked pretty well for me! It was a bit laggy in parts, but it never went out of sync like the youtube version did (I swapped from youtube to tumblr for that reason, and it was much better!)

he uses it occasionally, but mostly just for putting a link to a new video, or liking fanart/reblogging fan gifs
tbh, i'm firmly on team "they-both-have-other-tumblr-accounts-that-they-actually-use"(or at least phil) so it doesn't surprise me how little he uses it

Popping in to say that the lighting / camera in Dan's latest ls was an improvement over his old webcam setup. That said, the lagfest / unsync'ed version posted to YouTube was *almost* unwatchable (I ended up just listening.) Peeps are saying ther Tumblr upload is better, not sure of the technical reasons why...
