Winston ohhh i'll have to watch that again, i didn't notice him gasping subsequent times. i always write off that moment because they reacted to the temperature of the paint initially and so it was more plausible to me that that was what Dan was responding to than an erogenous zone.

and awkward throat clearing obviously embarrassed/uncomfortable 5:10 and Phil just keeps going. getting a rise out of his bff.

I always thought his gasps were in response to what Jameela was saying.

At 4:14 (Jameela had just said "You've actually just mentioned one of our one's to watch") if you watch carefully, it looks like he's started the gasp before Phil makes contact with his glorious neck.

Then, at 4:40, he gasps at Jameela's 'dramatic' announcement: "At Number 5 .... It's not Miley Cyrus".

Finally at 5:01 he gasps in response to Lady Gaga's new single announcement.

I could be wrong, though. I hope I'm wrong.

oh, about the "I love you and your bird nose" thing, it was a snapchat of some girl at "playlist?" that was in the same car as Dan, Phil and their manager, so we could hear a bit of their exchange.

come on guys, it's so blurry and zoomed in that it's hard to tell anything and the sillhouettes blend together. it's hardly news they like to sit close to each other, but i doubt they were cuddling at a highly recorded event with people everywhere.

i don't think they need to be 'cuddling' to be in intimate physical proximity in public. not everything has to be sexual/romantic.

Not to poke any holes in this moment, but I think that this is probably the case too. Dan seems to sometimes gasp as a response, similar to his nervous nose laugh (and the variety of other unexplainable noises he tends to emit). An example of this is 2:10 in the Pete Wentz prank call video:

"I guess Patrick is, like, bummed about it.." *gasp* "..and then the whole band is bummed about it." *gasp*

and i agree with Diyes_Celine we need more of phil's butt and legs , (also the tour already ended so that means their levels of stress should have lowered already, why is phil still that thin? I showed my sister a picture of him from the doc that i definitely didnt have as my screensaver nope and she got a bit spooked, I didnt notice how thin he got in the tour cos Im always cheking their content and stuff so I "see" them daily, but since she isnt a hardcore phan she doesnt watch them all the time, so to her the change was drastic (?) idk where im going with this but im just wondering what are u guys thoughts ?)

Dan and Phil are Youtubers predominantly known for making people laugh. They are almost comedians. It's not surprising then that when they reenact fanfiction in their show it is made to be funny. Yes they are mocking it slightly, but they also mock themselves. They mock almost everything about themselves in the show, even their personas through overacting. So it's not an attack on fanfiction, it's just light-hearted poking fun at everything to do with Dan and Phil.

I think they wrote dan as reluctant because it's funny, because it produces bants. Jokes come at some expense, there has to be an object of pain for a joke to work. In this case the 'pain' is dan's 'pain' at being controlled and made to do homoerotic things with Phil. Damn, read that sentence - even the concept sounds like some kind of kinky phanfic - it can only be the brainchild of Dan Howell.

But coffeepenguin I would like to say that I genuinely found your posts really interesting and I think you raised some great points I just happen to disagree with you on this one

I think swofro raised an interesting dichotomy of knowing and believing.

I believe Dan and Phil are together, because it's the simplest explanation when you look at the whole picture as plot points and join them up, but I don't know it. I believe it, but my belief could be wrong.

I initially believed Dan when he implied he was straight and said phan isn't real etc, but it was like as time went on there were just more and more holes in that story until it reached the point where the story didn't make sense. I then came to the belief that they are together.

I ship it because it's what Dan wants, what makes him happy and what he has chosen for himself.

If he chose someone else, another person other than Phil, I would be happy as long as he was happy - and I would ship them. I mean unless he or she or they was, you know, really boring. In which case I would still stan Dan, just smh at his life choices.

I think if Dan and Phil broke up I'd be upset for Dan, because I ultimately just want him to be happy. But if it was what's best for them I'd get over it (pretty quickly). This is another reason I try not to be disappointed/unhappy with him about lying to stay in the closet with Phil - because if it's what he's decided is best for him, if it's what he's decided will make him happiest out of his available options, what right do I have to criticize him for it?
