I'm surprised that you find her dull. She's kind of reserved in a certain way, like doesn't have an in-your-face personality. Still I like her sense of humor, and she's a bit self-deprecating (like Dan) which I always love. Also I love her taste in music, and her covers are exactly the way that covers should be done (full of emotion rather than showing off your vocal range).jaej wrote:i'll be honest and say i can't really imagine a collab working tbh. she kind of mumbles and makes sounds and stuff and it wouldnt work with the very direct dinof speaking
she's very 'i miss 2007 youtube i miss meeting in fields !!' and twee and 'omg tea and glasses!!' and... dull. i see why she's popular on tumblr, she's got that smol bean flower crown twenty one pilots fairy lights thing thats kind of popular. i find her videos really irritating and dont really like her singing, and since my only other knowledge of her was from a couple of weeks ago when she put a video of a guy on a train on twitter without him knowing because she thought he was hot... not really a positive view.

Tbh I'm kind of skeptical about the credibility of this. Not saying it's not possible but I'd be surprised if Dan would actually say something like that about someone from that circle of friends. Plus he doesn't even follow her on twitter.daphenaxa wrote: this is relevant i guess. I am very surprised he would say that honestly. maybe dan said that to make the girl who asked happy or maybe he really likes doddie but that's funny he never mentioned her before or tried to contact her as far as we know

That's what I thought too, he doesn't talk about other youtubers like that saying they're "his favourite youtubers" (unless he's talking about Philblueapple_x wrote:Tbh I'm kind of skeptical about the credibility of this. It's also possible he gave a response similar to in the LS when Emma was mentioned and somehow she hasn't picked up on the withering sarcasm... unlikely, but makes me giggle.NarrysCanary wrote:That's what I thought too, he doesn't talk about other youtubers like that saying they're "his favourite youtubers" (unless he's talking about Philblueapple_x wrote:Tbh I'm kind of skeptical about the credibility of this. He might like her content, and when someone brought her up to him hoping for a positive response, been like, 'Oh Dodie- she's one of my favorites!'. Also sidenote: she's one of my faves right now. As you guys said, she has such a cute and lowkey channel. I wouldn't find t such a stretch for Dan to be enjoying her content.

I'm such a sucker for peeling back the curtain. Fleur de Force's latest video is a total #spon video but I think it's well does, she goes through her day as a youtuber from the business end of it. There's nothing really groundbreaking in it but it's satisfying for me to watch a youtuber really actually working during a vlog.

That was really interesting! I love Fleur generally, so it was great to see a YouTuber I perceive as pretty honest doing something like this.alittledizzy wrote:I'm such a sucker for peeling back the curtain. The one thing I found particularly interesting from that - though I enjoyed the whole vid - was Fleur referring to YouTube as a career and sounding like she was trusting her future to it, where I'm not sure I've heard such certainty from any other YTers before? Of course, she does seem relatively privileged/rich and can maybe afford to take more of a chance on that, but I do see YTers - mostly thinking of D&P tbh - still saying that anything could happen in five years etc, and not seeming to trust their future to YT in that way because they perhaps respect the bizarre way this job rose, and imagine that it can disappear just as quickly, so it's interesting to see Fleur - who also started in 2009 - saying that she's recently started to trust that longevity more! (the mention I'm thinking of is around 4:25) Beauty vlogging is admittedly a pretty different sphere from what D&P do, with more brand involvement, but it was still interesting to me!
Maybe he watched her officially coming out as bisexual despite never really being in the closet side channel video that was literally posted the day before this interaction & fell in love with her like I did. I mean, a longshot, but you never know.IckleMissMayhem wrote:It's also possible he gave a response similar to in the LS when Emma was mentioned and somehow she hasn't picked up on the withering sarcasm... unlikely, but makes me giggle.NarrysCanary wrote:That's what I thought too, he doesn't talk about other youtubers like that saying they're "his favourite youtubers" (unless he's talking about Philblueapple_x wrote:Tbh I'm kind of skeptical about the credibility of this. Does anyone here watch Cereal Time? I love both Charlie and Jimmy, so I turn it on as background noise while I do my makeup most mornings.
I ask because, idk if it's just me, but it feels like they had no plan before starting the show. Like... every day's topic feels like a desperate grab at something to talk about and generally it's extremely shallow. I compare them a lot with GMM in my mind and that really brings out the lack of depth in their content. I mean, they literally just did an episode about their favorite books.
IDK. Wanted to vent a bit, because I feel like the show had untapped possibility.

I watch Cereal Time sometimes, mostly because I also love Charlie and Jimmy (and they are much better presenters than D&P imo), not for the subjects they choose.. The episodes with guests were nice though. Back on GG felucca linked to a podcast episode where they talk about the show. Iirc it's Hank Green's project (he's the producer), they spend only 3 days a week on the show, planning on Monday and Tuesday and filming all week’s episodes on Wednesday. And they have a very small team, including them, producer Josh and (one?) other assistant. So for the amount of effort it’s not a bad result I suppose, but I agree the topics could be more interesting. I guess they're not motivated financially to put in more effort and they are both involved in their own projects/jobs.rizzo wrote:Does anyone here watch Cereal Time? Hank also recently said in this video that Cereal Time is not taking off like they hoped/thought it would, and is expensive to make? Not sure how that fits into this but.vincentian wrote:I watch Cereal Time sometimes, mostly because I also love Charlie and Jimmy (and they are much better presenters than D&P imo), not for the subjects they choose.. Wow! Thanks for the insight, guys. That's sad and I wouldn't be surprised if it's heading swiftly towards a cancellation of sorts.bee wrote:Hank also recently said in this video that Cereal Time is not taking off like they hoped/thought it would, and is expensive to make? I really do think it has promise and agree that Jimmy and Charlie are excellent presenters, so I wonder if there's anyway to revive the show. First step being the reliance on cereal-related content. You can have a "cereal time" show without needing cereal news etc. But perhaps vincentian's right and the motivation isn't there.

Ticia I used to watch them like a year ago! still love them but I'm not up to date with them, how are they? did E graduate? I tried to watch one of their videos now but they don't capture me like once.
If you mean that both have a lovely relationship, love to tease each other but are super supportive of each other yes.

beckie0 on why she's not called beckie0 any more, interesting in light of Dan's URL change/potential 'rebranding' (although some of the issues she brings up aren't things that would affect Dan as one of the biggest YouTubers).
This was cute (and there was a whisk mention at the very very end).
And this seems like a pretty big deal but I didn't see anyone mention it yet:
Thanks and have a great day! Oil me
Sorry to double post, but I just watched Thomas Sanders new Q&A video and this response caught my attention:
Soo glaringly carefully worded to not include himself, I don't get it. Granted I've only started keeping up with him since that vine with D&P, but through my limited travels I've learned that he's not explicitly 'out' in anyway, buuuut...

Leo choreographed/performed a dance for his birthday:
Like this isn't the social media of a closeted person (obligatory 'phan would never'), so I was surprised by the way he responded to that question. Maybe even disappointed? I know there are non-straight youtubers (and viners probably) who aren't complete garbage (I'm thinking mostly of Matt Lush with that statement), but they don't really do it for me. Sorry, but I don't care about Rose & Rosie, or that other male couple whose names I forget. They're nice or whatever, but I don't really watch daily vloggers, I find them boring. I just don't care. What am I even complaining about right now, let me think.
Oh I'm having a breakdown apparently, fair warning:
But like.. why wouldn't he just say he's part of the community?
"they need"/ "you guys"/ "that community"Question: Do you support the LGBTQ+ community?
Answer: The answer to that is a big ‘heck yes’ because I absolutely love that community. I think that they need a lot more representation in traditional media and one of the best blessings that I have been granted has been a platform where I can at least do my part in bringing representation. So I love having vines that feature the LGBTQ+ community because I love all of you guys so much and I just appreciate all of the support I have been given from that community. I want to support you guys back.

I found that odd too! Especially as he said he loved Leo in the video you linked, his last video - though there wasn't any clear context (which I did notice at the time), Leo was a separate 'thank you and I love you' than his friends, so it didn't seem like he was actively hiding their relationship. He replied to an ask asking how gay he was with 'like, 15 gay' a few days ago, has reblogged a 'couple aesthetic' post and tagged it 'me and Leo', and even featured Leo in his vine as his boyfriend, so yeah, I was pretty surprised. He really doesn't seem to be in the closet, but I guess his YouTube is a bigger platform (with the vine reading fine as a 'joke' and only really being significant as part of that larger picture) and he only wants to be out to people following him on social media/who actually care about him so he doesn't have to deal with any possible backlash/making a (YT) media story and that rush of attention? idk.fancybum wrote:Sorry to double post, but I just watched Thomas Sanders new Q&A video and this response caught my attention:

I'm with you on the 'maybe disappointed' front too, just b/c I thought he was out and suddenly not so much. I don't mean to say that I'm disappointed in him, b/c obviously it's entirely his choice, no one has to come out, especially if they're a public figure etc etc, but it definitely sat oddly with me for him to actively talk around it and imply that he wasn't a member of the community like that, when his social media paints such a different picture.
And a million to your below the spoiler stuff!
